Another terrible experience but keep giving them a try in hopes for a better experience. I have been stalking the website day and night for over a month now for a specific dresser. Finally at 6:30am I checked the site and it said there were 56 dressers available and click & collect was available. So I ordered to reserved one for pickup at 11am. I made my payment and I received my confirmation email after payment was received about 10 mins later. I went back to check the site at 7:01 and it said 55 in stock so to me, the one I ordered for was accounted for and removed from the in stock count. Now At 10:40am, I get an email that the item is out of stock all of the sudden. This is the first issue. Second issue is I now have to wait 7 business days to get a refund on my card for something I was made to believe was available. When I called the customer service line no one could explain the reason this happened outside of maybe they oversold the product. I asked for a team lead, manager someone else that could handle my escalation request and was told no one is available and they would tell me the same thing so I'd need to call corporate. This is really terrible customer service and misleading to customers near and far. Interesting enough a local guy here in Charlotte that sells and assembles the hemnes dresser emailed me and told me he had dressers available at 10:30 this morning. Just yesterday afternoon he had none available. I do not believe the workers are doing their due diligence and pulling the items off the shelf when an item is reserved for click & collect. Ikea as a whole, please do better at how you manage your inventory and customer service request. I called corporates line (610) 834-0180 and shocker....no one answered Update at 12:15pm - just received a text that my item is now in stock smh and now it says 29 are available.....what's is going on. read more

I'm just so happy that we have an IKEA in North Carolina. It's quite a treat! I remember visiting my first one in Minneapolis and it blew me away. IKEA is a nice place to daydream and brainstorm about how you would like your space to look like. It's quite inspirational. I'm always able to find everything. These days, I prefer shopping online and doing the easy pickup. It's quite nice and convenient if you don't want to end up spending hundreds more dollars. It's pretty much order online, park, send a notice that you've arrived, and someone brings it out to you. It was so easy! This saved me so much time and money. read more

Ikea is a great store that's fun to browse. This review, however, will focus on the food, for some reason. There are 2 food areas. Upstairs has a cute little restaurant with great meatballs, macaroni and cheese, salmon and more. The food downstairs is a trap. It's awful. It's amazing how bad it is. I'd eaten upstairs before, so me and a friend decided to try the different options downstairs. I got a slice of pizza and a cinnamon roll while she got a veggie dog. We still don't know what those toppings were on that veggie dog. The pizza tasted like they forgot to spice it. The cinnamon roll (how could this be bad?) tasted like pizza dough with icing on it. So... enjoy the browse, avoid the downstairs food, and enjoy your furniture assembly when you get home. read more

IKEA, you have my heart. This was my first experience, so call me biased, but I loved it here! Unfortunately, I had to rush because I had somewhere to be, but I definitely plan on coming back! This place is not just any kind of furniture/home goods store. It is a whole vibe. There is even an area downstairs called, "small land," for children to be watched while you shop. We did not utilize this part of the store this trip because it appeared closed because of COVID, but the simple fact that they offer it, is amazing to me! There is also a cafeteria style place to eat upstairs and the food is not outrageously priced. It was good too, nothing special, but good and fairly priced. I ended up buying a few things while I was here, but definitely plan to return and buy more! read more

Do NOT shop here. I went here on Sunday June 13th to buy some furniture for my new house. It's an hour away in heavy Charlotte traffic, so it's not a fun drive. They didn't have the dresser my oldest daughter wanted (MALM) in stock. They wouldn't let us order it but said it would be in the next day and we could order it online and just come back to pick it up. They wouldn't ship it or let us order it right then which is ridiculous, but whatever. I'm an OTR Truck Driver so I had to leave out Monday but I ordered it online and asked my wife to pick it up Tuesday June 15th when she got off work. She drove an hour to get there and waited an hour and a half only to be told that they couldn't give it to her. She's my WIFE! I was on the phone with her while they're telling her they wouldn't give it to anyone but me. All they had to do is verify my information. I offered to give them my name, address, email phone number and the credit card. My wife has THE SAME CREDIT CARD! So okay. I told my wife I would cancel the order and she can just go inside and buy it. I call the 888 number and cancel the order.while my wife goes inside to buy it. Then they tell her it's sold out! The rep I talked to on the phone said it doesn't go back into inventory right away. They have a "process" and that they couldn't sell my wife the dresser because it wasn't back in their inventory even though I just canceled my order. They had the dresser RIGHT THERE! It's like they have no ability to think. They're just automatons following a "process" and they have no common sense, or discernment. Are people really trying to scam IKEA out of a $109 dresser? We had a toilet leak and are now remodeling a bathroom and my office. Back on April 30, I got up and the carpet in front of the tub was slightly damp to the touch so first impression was that did not have the shower curtain properly positioned. By the time my wife got back from Pittsburgh, the carpet was totally saturated. Turned out the gasket fitting on the fill mechanism of the toilet had corroded to the point that it was falling apart. Start the insurance claim and contact contractors. Because it was my office, I've been off line for almost three weeks and posting have been from a tablet. Office is not done yet but moved the computer back in so I can start posting again. One of the places we went was IKEA looking for a bathroom vanity. They had some and at good prices but the quality was not there or at least not what we were looking for. Lot of good deals on smaller kitchen utensils but not for what we were looking for. read more

Love IKEA usually, we shop here all the time...unfortunately this visit was severely tarnished by our checkout associate...Mahjabin. We came in so cited to look and price out our items for our new home. After having great fun throughout the store, enjoying a deliciously filling lunch in the cafeteria area then catching a GREAT FIND in the as-is section we were full of excitement to get some IKEA frozen yogurt...but as we were checking out we were greeted by the most horrible attitude from Mahjabin...she didn't seem she wanted to check us out at all...I noticed the same attitude with the family in front of us but ignored it in hope for a better experience after she scanned our items she made it seem as if we didn't have enough money....rushing us and rolling her eyes multiple times...HOW DISRESPECTFUL! This was so disappointing, even my daughter asked me if something was wrong with her...the outcome is we didn't get our ice cream treat...we just felt like she ruined the whole experience and I dont even want to plan our trip back this weekend for our larger furniture now... IKEA isn't just a store- it's an adventure. It's a great place for furnishing a home or apartment on a budget, or killing several hours on a rainy or extremely hot day. Since Charleston doesn't have an IKEA, we visited on a weekend trip to Charlotte. When you walk in, take the escalator upstairs to shop. The store is laid out by room/area, so you get lots of ideas for decorating and how to use your purchases- it's a smart way to sell! Open the drawers, doors, and closets, and you'll see organization options and how to maximize space. You can pick up your small items, but don't free if you miss one- chances are you'll have a chance to grab it later. For large items, I suggest taking a picture of the tag with your phone. I also suggest taking a picture of the store's map with your phone so you know where the shortcuts are and where you are. Regular shoppers can download an app, but as someone who visited for the first time and will probably visit maybe once a year, it was a bit tough to locate maps. The second floor is basically a maze and by the end of it, we were tired and hungry, so we sped through the kids area and had lunch in the upstairs restaurant. The food isn't gourmet, but where else can two people eat for under $20 and split a delicious slice of almond cake for dessert? The salmon meal for $6.99 was a bargain and hit the spot. After lunch, we headed downstairs to the a warehouse where you'll look up items on the kiosk and grab your large purchases. Many smaller items are on this floor too, with some at the registers. Once you check out, there's a small grocery where you can purchase candy and food items, including most items sold in IKEA's restaurant (frozen meatballs, desserts, etc). A food stand also sells ice cream, cinnamon rolls, hot dogs, and other snacky items. Personally, I had to grab a bag at the $7.99/lb candy bin for a sugar high for the ride home. My husband and I spent close to three hours at IKEA and took over 4,000 steps, so wear good shoes, drive a truck/SUV, and don't come in a hurry. If you have questions, just ask a staff member- wearing a hideous but effective striped shirt, so you'll know who they are. read more

I have ordered an order from IKEA to furnish my new apartment as a single father. IKEA outsourced the delivery to RXO. On two separate occasions RXO has sent delivery drivers with either an open warrant or prior felonies. On the first occasion, the driver contacted me stating he needed directions to get onto base and to meet him outside of the gate to give him directions. Once I met him, he stated I needed to get inside of his truck to make it either to follow directions. We proceeded to get on the military base and found out he didn't have a pass to get on the installation. The guards directed us to the visitor center to get the pass. On the way, the driver stops in the middle of the interstate and tells me he has a felony and won't pass the background check and was hoping the guards would just let him on because I am a service member. The driver then asks if I can just load my order into a friends POV to deliver it myself and carry all my stuff myself. On the second occasion, the driver calls and states he did not know the order was being delivered to a military base and the delivery couldn't happen. Once I asked for an explanation the driver stated it was a risk to the company. When I asked for even more explanation the driver stated it was a risk for incarceration. Then he hung up and wouldn't pick up the phone. I have been calling multiple times to the company both IKEA and RXO and no one can ever give me a definite answer. Half the time they can't locate my order or they put the blame on the other company. They also keep rescheduling it which is causing me to continually miss work. My family and I have been sleeping on the floor and eating our meals on the floor due to this negligence. Not one time have I been offered an apology or reimbursement. The company doesn't value my time or money. I spent a lot of money to ensure a comfortable living situation as a service member but this company does not seem to support our troops. read more

I think this place is pretty cool and even cooler now that I have discovered they have inexpensive picture frames (Around a couple of Dollars) now I can frame pictures for my Office. They also have some great gadgets and inexpensive furniture and home goods. You can put in a lot of steps in this place just to get back out. lol I can not eat there food only due to my Whey Protein sensitivity being in the cinnamon rolls, what else may have it? The maze and claustrophobic layout of the showroom to then take us down to an even more confusing warehouse, but some of the things you can buy aren't in the warehouse but are back in the showroom...and then there's mediocre food randomly in case you get so lost and desperate that you must eat something? WTF!? If you can survive all that, you get to choose between attempting to assemble your purchase before finally giving up, or you can hire someone right away to come out and assemble it for you. My very first visit to IKEA was today. Yea I know. I'm late. Well for all the single ladies like me...bring someone with you that has muscles if you're buying something that needs to be put together and packed on your vehicle. I bought a desk and chair and could not put the items from the pallet to my shopping cart. Too heavy! I felt like a whimpy girl. Then I couldn't get the boxes in my home. Had to hire someone to remove the boxes from my car inside my home and put together. I'll update the review later with pics of the work from home setup. The process is so manual. Customers do everything themselves. Everything. Well I did stop by to try the meatballs and hotdogs I hear so much about. Nothing to rave about in my opinion. Dogs are bland. Meatballs taste like they came from the freezer section. I kicked my diet for those. Highly disappointed. I'm glad I had a good workout out in today. Here is what I bought. Drove 3 hours to get here for one specific item that was available at this location on the website but out of stock in store. Unhelpful and unfriendly staff, what was meant to be a 2 hour outing tops was turned into 6 hours inside of the IKEA store. We asked if they could ship the item we came for and they said the shipping fee was three times the price of the original piece. Ridiculous. Negatives: Had to deduct a star for the maze they force upon you. The shortcuts are aren't much. I went back in after loading my car for some dinner, and had to walk the whole store again (again, those shortcuts aren't much after a day of Ikea). Very well maintained store, it was a pleasant first ikea experience but we came on the tail end of a Charlotte weekend trip and were not energetically prepared. My partner retired to the car to rest after we had lunch at the cafe, but I was determined to power through and explore all that I could. Toward the end I started getting restless, like almost a panicking feeling because I realized it's kind of a maze and I couldn't just simply walk out haha! Don't let that deter you though, just be sure to know this is a bit of a tiresome kind of thing, so arrive with a "full battery". So glad I stayed and walked through the downstairs, because I found a lot of useful little things for a great price. My most useful purchase that I'm still excited about was a great little dish brush. Is this adulthood? I also picked up an inexpensive bulk bag of chips clips, nice glass waterbottle, tongs, a dish strainer, wooden cutting board, a cute little octopus shaped clothes drying hanger, and a live lucky spiral bamboo! I was too drained to find any of the furniture that struck my fancy earlier on in the visit. Some things are priced really well, other things are a bit expensive in my opinion. After walking a long way, we finally made it to the big white building. It was mobbed. Like, if another person bumps me I'll have a meltdown mobbed. Ladies room was very dirty and every stall being used. Very long checkout lines. Bottom line - spent 25 minutes in here, didn't buy anything and realized that I really like IKEA's products but it'll be online ordering for me. I LOVE IKEA!!!! I can't believe I have not been here before. The showroom was so fun to walkthrough, even though we knew what we needed and it was not in there. But it was still really fun and cute! We were able to find our item quickly. I needed a clothes rack badly and I could not believe they had one for $12! Such a good price. Once we found our item and checked out, we decided to check out the cafeteria. So I obviously did not go into the dining experience with crazy high hopes since it is cafeteria food. But honestly, I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the plant balls and they were so good. I'm honestly not sure how swedish meatballs should taste, but they seemed pretty comparable to me. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were a bit bland, but definitely still enjoyable! Overall, this was a fun experience and I will be buying furniture (and probably stopping in for more food!) when I move into my new apartment. The prices here seem hard to beat! read more

We also bought a fridge! We were able to purchase it with a discount offered on the app. It was a savings of $350.00. We have bought appliances at IKEA prior to this and have always been pleased. They have some unusual succulents, which I was not expecting. I bought one that I have never seen before. People travel hours to shop at this store. While we were buying the fridge, there was a family that had traveled 3 hours one way to plan and purchase there kitchen cupboards and counter tops. If you haven't been, treat yourself to a visit. At worst you can sit for a wonderful cinnamon roll at the exit. I think it was $1.00! read more

IKEA is definitely the place for a wide range of home decor. From cabinets to duvets they literally have it all at a pretty decent price. The closest IKEA showroom near me is in Charlotte and it is HUGE. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to browse the entire store (which will take you hours). I love the individual setups of different rooms that are fully decked out. I was a little disappointed with my trip this go around as they were out of the three large items I wanted to purchase. I still came out with some awesome things though. I appreciate that they serve their on nice plates and you have actual silverware to dine with. Adds a nice home style feel. The lines were exceptionally long with only three registers open (felt like being in Walmart). No staff ever approached to ask if I needed help but it was very busy as usual. I went to your Charlotte NC store which is 2 hours from my house. When I was ready to check out, there was an announcement that your cashier machines weren't working and there would be a delay. Well delay was an understatement. An hour I stood there way too close to people in the hot stale air. The employees were rude and unhelpful. We asked if we could just pay for our items online and leave with them to which the old white haired shrew at the front of the store laughed and said "you can pay online but you aren't leaving with any merchandise ". What a bitch. IKEA is becoming a mission and a real inconvenience. I won't be driving my happy ass over here . A huge store with many options. It's an experience more than a shopping event. You will easily get lost in the store whereby you thought you were focused on one particular room but end up looking at everything else. So much to see! IKEA sells items such as home furnishings (shelving, entertainment centers, o tires, rugs, etc), kitchens, appliances, plates, glasses, flatware, pots and pans, sofas, chairs, beds, mattresses, linens, towels, children's furniture, etc. they have many different sections so grab a map so you don't get lost. The one downside is that everything has to be built. The box cones "ready to be assembled". There have been a few items where they did not have all the hardware so be sure to stop and grab extra hardware. It's free. Ask the cashier where to find them. Oh and wear comfortable shoes. The floors are all cement and you do a lot of walking. There are a few cut through if you don't want to go through the entire store. Enjoy! read more

I really want to visit IKEA again, I just have been trying to avoid going out for unnecessary things during this pandemic. Luckily, I did visit back in February before the world changed and I was happy with several of the items I found. For those who have never been to ikea before, understand that it is a day trip! And it takes time to go through all of the things... and be prepared that you and your partner might get into a little bit of a fight... but it is still worth it because of the reasonable prices on not only their furniture but also other smaller items that they selll. I love the light fixtures they have here, and there's also lots of customizable furniture pieces so that you can choose what works best for what you need!! I didn't eat at the cafeteria, but I did have to get one of the cinnamon buns at the end because I was a bit hangry after spending awhile in the store and it was really yummy. read more

Just left the store. November 8, 2020. The guy working the self checkout at 4:30 PM was extremely rude. I have never experienced anything like it anywhere. I was there to purchase Christmas decorations, but was not able to find what I was looking for. I came across an outdoor area rug that caught my attention for $30. Yes, please! Unfortunately, as I was at the checkout the cashier with an attitude yelled she was closed. Fine. I went to self checkout only to encounter the rudest and most dramatic employee. We were scanning the rug when he yanked it from us and said they don't sell floor displays. Like I was supposed to know it was a display since it was with a ton of others. I asked if he could see if there were others in stock and he said no. When I asked again he rudely responded, "No one is going to bring it to you." I walked up to him and asked for his name and he walked away 3x and yelled at me to stop following him. He caused a scene and to avoid further problems I went to customer service who apologized for his behavior and they'd look into it. Well, driving from 3 hours away has left a negative experience and I will be calling corporate. Hopefully they start training soft skills and professionalism read more
