First time experience in the CLT store. Quite impressed. I had to return some shelves & decided to hang around & shop & get some lunch. Great cafeteria up stairs with a nice second floor view through large glass window pane. I had the Swedish meatball special that comes with mashed potatoes and peas, it was excellent! They were a mix of pork and beef and very tasty. There's also and small bistro down stairs where you can order/pay for hot dogs and small hand-held on their kiosk. If you've never been to one of these stores, I would recommend going to their website and getting familiar with what you're interested in FIRST. They want you to go through EVERY department and SEE everything first. If you've got the time, go for it. Most people want to get eyes on their product, make a decision, buy and get going. It's very easy to purchase on their website and pick-up the product on the curb. You also have the option of going inside for pick-up. I would def encourage you to check out the 'As Is' department which is near the exit and where you pay. Returns are easy, just have your order number or receipt. There is no need to START a return on their web site as they suggest, it doesn't expedite the process at all. I was very disappointed at the attitude of some of the employees, especially in the upstairs serving line. Woman didn't want to be there and it clearly showed, she was miserable and want you to be too. IF you have a lot of stuff or want to pick-up your on-line order at the CURB they have someone there to help you load into the vehicle. There will be a lot of products by brands you have NEVER heard of. They are from all over Europe. I especially like they way they solicit shopper feed back. At every transaction point and almost every step, they are asking you to rate them. This place will give Bezos some competition.
You shouldn't have a problem finding parking. This place is massive. Plan on wearing comfortable walking shoes. Follow the arrows on the floor to help navigate you through the store. The store has countless affordable items for your home. Many don't require assembly so grab a cart. I recommend taking pictures of the items you would like to get before you head down to the warehouse portion on the lower level to retrieve the items you can't grab from the floor (furniture). The restaurant is the real treat in the store. The Swedish food is reasonable and delicious. They also have a smaller snack food area near checkout. I like IKEA. I like the prices and the modern appearance of their goods. You can spend a great deal of time in here and make sure you have ample room in your truck/van/car to carry your goods home.
I only gave the store four stars, but we like what they offer and will be coming back. The reason for the four stars is that they make it impossible to get out of the store without having to go through so much of it. We tend to have lots of parties and don't like plastic for alcoholic drinks, so we buy all of our wine, martini, and other types of glasses here that we use for parties. We're not worried if they get broken (which they do) since replacements are easy and inexpensive. They also have a lot of other cool things, such as their organization stuff and kitchen gadgets (I love gadgets). However, this trip got me a bit annoyed with the store. The first thing we did was grab a box of red wine goblets. We took all of the shortcuts we could find to get to the checkout, but we still went through so much of the store. After our purchase, we went upstairs to eat in the cafeteria. My wife always has to get the Swedish meatballs when we visit, and since we were both hungry, I ordered 16 of them. Who doesn't love ikea! After a terrible experience with a restaurant that we waited almost 2hrs for food that we never received. We were hungry and decided to stop in to ikea to get some food since their food was half off on Friday! We wanted something quick and fast and ikea delivered. The staff were so friendly, the cafeteria and dining areas are always clean. We got to the dining area got our trays, our dessert and food. And bam! We sat and ate our food, it was yummy and we were full! We didn't come to do any shopping this trip, but really enjoyed our meal at a awesome price. I got the Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, the bean mix, Texas toast and a cheesecake. All for about 13 bucks! This also included a fountain drink. Ikea never disappoints!
Massive. IKEA is always fun to go to but then you're quickly reminded how huge this store really is and how much time you'll actually need to spend there to make your rounds of rooms and products. For the most part, the selection they have is solid and while some things reasonable, less desirable looking items are expensive. A billion rooms to go through but they set it up well enough to go in a specific direction (if you want), to make the most out of your time and viewing. The showrooms are all staged well and give you lots of ideas and labeled very well (so you don't have to look for price/description) of item. The bottom floor with the separate products can be a cluster, but I'd attribute that more towards the customers that pick up everything and put them out of place. Plenty of lines but still long lines to wait. Overall, a good place to view/buy home goods if you want to spend half a day there.
I used to really like ikea but these days it just isn't worth the hassle. They are no longer the cheapest place to get most things and alternatives to their furniture can be found for better quality and prices on wayfair, shipped direct to your house. IKEA has also become way more annoying to actually buy from. It's weird to say, but the areas where they've replaced "get your own" with assistance are actually dramatically worse than before. Now, buying a larger item (closets for example) requires you to get assistance from a person at least twice but still requires you to do all the work of figuring out what you need beforehand. Now you have to have a person put it into an order form for you which you then have to scan and pay for - only then can you take it to yet another person who will scan it again. At this point you go into a queue to wait for someone to bring you your stuff which can be a seriously long wait even if no one is ahead of you. After all that, you're back to having to deal with the stuff yourself (man handling it outside and loading it yourself). On top of that, while you now have to deal with at least two new people in buying a Pax, they removed all the cashiers so you have to do checkout for yourself which is annoying when a Karen in front of you can't figure out how to scan the boxes up couch she bought. Like I said, it's no longer worth the hassle.
Who get's excited to visit a furniture store? Me! Who get's excited to visit one with a restaurant? Meeee! Tip #1 come with your walking shoes on! Seriously. This is a large store/warehouse. With a lot to see, touch, and buy! It took us about 2 and half hours to walk around and see it all AND eat. Tip #2 bring a to-go container! They have no to-go containers sooo if you don't eat all your food - you can wrap it up in aluminum foil *shrugs* The food is very good for the money and fresh! It's like a cafeteria set up. You grab a tray and pick out what refrigerated items you want and anything hot you get from the server. Very one was very kind from the food area or the furniture area. The entire store was very well organized and clean. If you are looking for inspirational ideas on how to put your space together or interesting pieces to decorate with - this is a place to visit. Ohhhh let me not forget - Tip #3 - the snack cookies from Switzerland - if you see them - GET them! They are heart shaped gingerbread cookies! We ate them so quickly I didn't get a photo lmbo!
I just love to walk around this place. The combination of the broad selection and the affordable prices is always a winning combination. I'll be honest I have not often purchase anything but the store but I do get lots of design and other ideas when I'm visiting. The service is top-notch, including the service on the floor, as well as the service and the restaurant and the snack bar that's located in the front of the store. I am always amazed at how many people are in the store, but it doesn't have that crowded over packed feel and you never have to wait a long time am I
Love this place and the food! Can spend the entire day in the store. Have lunch then shop! They even have child care. The store is always clean and organized! I have several sturdy pieces of furniture from here and even grab a cone on the way out!! read more

Nice and clean as always. I usually get good inspiration from here. This ikea can get pretty busy on the weekend but if you go during the week it's pretty light traffic. When I went in today I was able to browse in peace and there was help when needed. read more
I love, love, love looking around IKEA, especially on rainy days. It's a great way to spend an hour or so, wandering through all of the different rooms and aisles. I get some great home decorating ideas, and over the years, we've bought several pieces of furniture and other home decor, utensils, etc. there to decorate our home in a modern style. Lately, though, every time we go, the lines to check out have been atrocious. There are like 20 registers, but they only use about 4-5 of them. This past Sunday was the ABSOLUTE WORST. We were glad we decided to wait on "that set of curtains" after walking past the check out lines. See my attached photo. It's ridiculous. Hello, IKEA! How about staffing and customer service? Food is delicious. My husband had the meatball plate and for dessert, the chocolate almond cake. Absolutely fabulous. The IKEA is huge, with a grocery store on the first floor and home furnishings on the second. We spent the day wandering from room to room admiring kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. We loaded our cart to overflowing and headed home! Will soon find an excuse to come back! read more
Anything for the home One of my favorite places to browse to get ideas Today I came for a sink and cabinet for my bathroom. I found just what I wanted I also got a bedspread, storage containers, plates, a rug , ceiling light, cutting board,window shades and storage baskets This place it huge. I've been there 10 times and I can still get lost. It's easy to fill your shopping cart They supply a pencil to write down the item number so you can get it before checkout. Ahh, do those Swedes know something about design and efficiency? If you didn't think so, IKEA will change your mind, stat! I popped in on a day off and entered the store a little after 11am on a Thursday. Perfect, the place was mostly empty and I had full rein of the showroom with a handful of other shoppers. Very cool displays, some are by item type and then they have mini showcases that feel like you're stepping through a house. Getting a hang of IKEA shopping means jotting down names, prices and locations of items that you'll find self-serve at the end of your journey. At the halfway point is the IKEA cafe where you can grab some yummy and cheap eats, think Swedish meatballs for $4 and some nice dessert options. The IKEA cafe is really open, airy and light, great for a noon time meal. And once, you're done it's back to shopping. You can grab your table-top and soft items on the lower floor and then you enter the self-serve warehouse where you can get your flat packed furniture and larger items. You really have to appreciate how this place is designed to work with such minimal staff. Shopping at IKEA is definitely an experience, plan for 2 - 4 hours depending on how serious you are. And while it's not an amusement park, IKEA is definitely some fun.... read more

It's only been hour and half from their store opening and the line is ridiculously long with just two cashier stations open. The line goes all the way to the end of the warehouse. That's how bad it is. After a half hour of waiting they open up a new cashier and take the people from the back of the line without accommodating the people waiting in line longer. Rating 2.5: I like the savings one gets when shopping at IKEA. However, customer service is lacking. They only had 4 cash registers open for checkout. There was probably over 50 people that needed to be checked out. They also need more People on the floor to help assist with locating items you can't seem to find. The food here is good. You should check out the cafeteria for lunch or dinner. Just be prepared to waste a lot of time if you come to this IKEA location. read more

1st timer here. I'll admit I was completely overwhelmed in several ways. Overwhelmed at the size of the space, huge just huge. Overwhelmed at the awesome prices and markdowns...seriously?! Wow!!! Mind officially blown!!! I was well reserved in my spending because I can always come back and didn't want to make a ton of impulse buys, #Guilty. I did not try any of the food so can't comment on that. I really liked how the displays were organized. You really get a sense of how the item(s) will look in your space. Now, what I do not like...I HATE the face that you have to walk through the ENTIRE store just to get out. So annoying!!! Unless I was doing it wrong with the floor arrows. I also didn't find the sheets at a good price, imo. I can get an entire sheet set with shams and a comforter for the same price or maybe $20 more. Overall, it was a good adventure. I will return or at the least check them out online. read more
I started shopping here since the grand opening. I like their unique, thoughtful and sometimes whimsical offerings at great prices, although quality is suspect on some items. Need a little circus tent for kids to imagine the day away? $24 and it fits under your arm. Over the years I have spent thousands of dollars here and my experience, overall, is good. We even purchased a new kitchen and couldn't be happier (PS: not a DIY weekend project). However, sometimes I don't think they understand the American buyer. We're spoiled and want personnel at our fingertips, short lines, great sales, bagged items, and easy in/out. IKEA offers little of this. They are a big box (huge) maze, figure it out/drag it home/assemble it yourself seller of stuff that cannot be found elsewhere. And it's affordable. And, for me, that's the rub. The longer the store is open, the less staffing seems to exist as management works them ever harder affecting the exuberance of the IKEA idea. The long lines could be easily resolved with simple adjustments, especially when just an item or two is needed. It appears someone is watching the bottom line over listening to their consumer. Yes, call me a fan, but this is not Target or Crate and Barrel. PS: to avoid the shopping nightmare from hell, do not go midday on either Saturday nor Sunday. I told ya so! read more

Underwhelmed. Had visited Ikea in other countries and found the experience in Charlotte NC to be below expectations. Perhaps it's the snack offerings at the front, or the product offerings given that we are in the South where house decor items are easily found in other big box discount retailers eg TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshalls, Burlington etc. read more
First of I am a fan of IKEA, affordable household items and furniture.. can't beat that. I first started shopping at IKEA in college, with a limited budget and a apartment to furnish. Just wish they had more locations closer to home. With a huge parking lot there are never any issues finding a spot. I recommend parking near the exit, easier to load all your new items..especially if getting larger products. Upon entering the store I always scan my loyalty card for instant coupons (if you don't have one, signing up is easy and fast at the same scanner.) Most IKEA's are set up the same way, here in Charlotte the play area for dropping of your kids while you shop is right by the entrance next to the doors that lead you into the marketplace. I like to walk the show floor upstairs first. The show floor is where you take your time walking through multiple room set ups showcasing all the products sold here and getting hands on to see the functionality of them. I always get different ideas here and love seeing everything come together. All the furniture I've purchased over the years, I have seen set up first in a room before buying. All items have a tag on them with the price and location where to find it. There are also complementary measuring tape, pencils and paper for customers. Once I have my list or ideas set then I'm off to the marketplace. This is where most of the items are for sale. Carts are available right at the entrance here. The layout is by department, kitchen stuff is all together, bathroom items and so forth. Making shopping very easy to navigate. There are always special store discounts or clearance items in every department. When you come to the end of the marketplace it leads into the self-serve area. This is where all your big furniture items are stored, like a big warehouse every aisle is labeled ( this is where knowing the location of your item is important) Larger push carts are available for easy loading. But if you need any assistance employees are always willing to help. By the registers is an area for discounted items, also products that got banged up, scratched etc. I always do a quick walk through, I have found some great deals in the past on candles, curtains and rugs. After checking out I usually get a buy one get one free frozen vanilla yogurt cone..only a $1 at the bistro. There is a restaurant on site, but I've never ate there. All the furniture I've purchased here and had to put together ...a bed frame, dresser drawers and jewelry cabinet ...never any issues putting them together or lasting throughout the years. read more
Going to IKEA during the pandemic I thought would be a nightmare instead it was a great experience. It was more preferred than their regular times. They were very strict on social distancing and capacity rules. There was even social distancing with the long line outside of the store. I love how they thought about everything plus more and still made it somewhat convenient for families. Plus you can't beat the prices at IKEA. read more

If I can give this review no star I would. Worst customer service people. My husband and I were at the IKEA in Charlotte NC to look at beds. He had a question and asked for some help. 3 people was at a desk less than 30 ft from where my husband was standing. The guy said "I can't help you because I'm off the clock but these two can". I heard a snicker at that and both girls continued to ignore us and play on their computers. I waited a minute then said out loud that we asked for help to which I was ignored also. I waited another minute then spoke out loud and said "I guess we won't be getting any help here!" The white girl smacked her lips and finally asked what we needed help with to which my husband said he had a question about a bed and she asks what about the bed (still standing at the desk and not bothering to move). I finally snapped back and said this was such bad customer service and she whips her head around at me and snapped "what did you say?" I responded back "You heard what I said. I didn't stutter. We asked for help and have been ignored until now and you have an attitude?" The guy walks over to me and tries to deescalate the situation by telling me that we were in the wrong because if we needed help we were supposed to walk over to them. I said that was ignorant because the item we needed help with is over there and not at the desk from which they refused to move from. He threw up his hands and said that he didn't want to deal with me. I then asked to speak to a manager in which he stated that he was "the manager". I asked him that if he was the manager and then he should've made them move the first time we asked for help and a manager would NEVER say that they can't help someone because they were "off the clock". Things got more heated and we walked away only to run into them again as we were leaving and to hear them joking about the situation and laughing as they walked by us. This is when I snapped these 2 pictures of them. I asked another employee if he was indeed a manager and she said no. I then asked to speak to a real manager. Dustin came by and we spoke about this situation and he did confirm that the guy was just a member and not management. He was very apologetic about it and said he would follow up with this. I highly doubt it but I'm still posting this here for others to read that IKEA in Charlotte has 3 employees not worth their salt. I will also be contacting ikea corporate office. This could've all been avoided if either one of the girls would've just said that they would be with us soon instead of ignoring us. If you hate your job that much then get another job. If I would've spoken to a customer in that tone of voice in front of my manger I can guarantee that I would no longer have a job. read more
If you haven't ate at IKEA you're missing out. I've never had a bad experience with food here and the price is amazing. I've studied here as well on a weekday and that worked out well. Shopping is fun, I love the ever changing displays. I've gotten my duvet set and dish set here and both are awesome. I've picked up a few nifty gadgets and light fixtures as well. They are usually packed out on the weekends, if I can help it - I go on the weekdays only. read more
How can you not like IKEA? By no means am I advocating to get all of your furniture from this store, but if you need a bookshelf, side table, or some accent pieces, you should definitely swing by the big blue box. It's a bit aggravating that you essentially have to walk through the whole freaking place to get what you need, but it seems that I find a few more things than I came in for each time. If you've never been then make sure you wear some comfortable shoes and set a couple of hours aside for the endeavor. When you walk through the main entrance, you're going to go up the escalator, go through the whole upper showroom, then downstairs through the marketplace, and then finally to the massive warehouse. The great thing is that once you find something in the showroom you actually like, you don't have to find someone to schedule ordering the piece and either have it delivered or pick it up in a couple of weeks like other furniture stores, you can go right to the warehouse-like downstairs area and pick it up right then and there! Need a whole dining room set RIGHT NOW? It's yours, so long as you're adept with a hammer and a screwdriver. The marketplace is full of different decor and small pieces that bring your home together and whole at a value oriented price. My favorite spot in the marketplace is the drinkware section. You can get plain pint glasses for less than $2 each. Good luck beating that anywhere else! Make sure to spend some time in the marketplace section to find all the good bits and pieces. If you're looking for a 'red carpet' experience, you ain't gonna find it here! This is a self-serve giga mart that does have a few associates stationed around the showrooms, but don't expect any hand holding here. So measure your spaces and bring your minivan, oh and be sure to get your share of cheap yet filling plate of Swedish meatballs! read more

As a lover of ABBA, Swedish meatballs and H&M, naturally I would fall in love with Ikea. Low prices, cute home accessories plus bright colors all over the place , cheap hot dogs, what's not to love?? I love Ikea but hate the power it has over people ---to lose all ability to walk, speak and behave normally. When I go to Ikea, I am on a mission. So that means if you're standing still in the middle of the maze that Ikea is, I will take you out. I don't want to lallygag around looking at every item-as much as I love Ikea-I want to get in and out of there! I'm a fan of their rugs, kitchen and bedroom accessories but havent had much luck with their furniture since you have to assemble it and Bob Vila, I am not. After a fail of a home improvement project concerning a bed frame I bought at Ikea (which is now being held together by duct tape since I can't figure out how to fix it since I didn't keep the Ikea tools to put the bed together), I definitely won't be buying furniture from IKEA ever again. If you go online and create a shopping list and select your local Ikea, it will tell you what bin or part of the store the item is in so you don't have to write everything down as you look. My most successful, less busy trips have been Sunday late-afternoons or weeknights. If you go on Saturday between 10A-5P, you're just asking for a death wish. read more
Don't skip the restaurant! Ikea is so much more than flat pack furniture! I came up here early one morning and made a stop for coffee and some great Swedish pancakes with lingonberry sauce (a bit like cranberries, just not as tart) while I went through my mental list of the stuff I needed for my new Charlotte apartment. Once that was done, it was off for a wander through the furniture showrooms (yep, I'll have one of those and one of those and one of those that probably won't fit in the car) and then the smaller kitchen and housewares showroom areas. When it was time to start picking my furniture from the warehouse, I'd picked up a dozen little things, several of which I had no idea that I needed, but dang it, I really do need that! Pulling a futon bed and mattress onto the flat trolley and out to the register to pay for it. Ikea offers a 1% coupon when you use your debit card to make the purchase. And they'll sort of help you load stuff into your car, they're just not allowed to do the tying down. Fortunately, the futon mattress fit once I put the seats down and I guess I can still drive with it poking me in the kidney. A couple of tips: Have a list. Arrive early. Be patient. And don't skip the restaurant or the food shop at the end. You have no idea how many different ways there are to smoke and can and bottle different fish! read more
IKEA is an adventure more than a shopping destination. Plan to spend a lot of time here as you wind your way through the many sections of the building. Great selection of furniture and home accessories. We stock up on all kinds of kitchen and bathroom crap while we are here since it is dirt cheap. Some of the furniture is cheap as hell, and tacky, but there are lots of options. I even seen a denim couch while shopping here. There is no freaking way I would put a denim couch in my house, but hey if it works for you then more power to you. If you hate crowds then you may want to avoid this place, Very popular store. Not a store you can just run in and pickup something quick. It is more of a day trip. Highlights - Very affordable furniture and home accessories - Great selection - Some items are questionable quality - Child care available - Decent cafeteria with Swedish favorites - Remember, it is an adventure so plan accordingly read more

A fun store to walk through until you get to the end and have to wait in line 30 to 40 minutes to pay for your goods. Almost impossible to find a management person and when I did he simply said I've got everybody I can find. It is 6 pm on a Saturday night in February. I am amazed this company is still in business. I will not be back. read more

So my pals and I decided to take an impromptu trip to Charlotte, solely to visit an IKEA. As a group of friends from relatively small towns, none of us had ever been before. So, you know, this is pretty exciting. I'm gonna be honest the store itself is 5 stars but the food is more like 3 stars totaling to a smooth 4 star review. First of all IKEA is huge like WHAT. My friend Isaiah got lost after he went to the bathroom and ended up roaming the top floor by himself for like 20 minutes. The Swedes really now how to present furniture and create a flowing floor plan so u hit every section like "Living Room," "Bedroom," etc. The prices are reasonable for the quality and appearance of the furniture, and I made a vow to myself that when I own my own place, I'm gonna be a solely IKEA furnished house cuz I love the furniture so much. The bottom floor is kinda confusing though and has extremely long checkout lines, so if you think what u bought is worth the wait then go for it. Now let's get to the food. Honestly it's not too pricey to eat here, and they have these cool lil carts for all ur trays if u have too many to carry or just enjoy rolling your food around like me. I got a pulled pork sandwich with a swedish meatball add and some almond butterscotch dessert thing. Altogether it was like $7 plus some change. There was a Swedish meatball add-on for a dollar, because i had to try those before I left. Altogether the food was underwhelming, like average food you could buy from a grocery store and heat up. The dessert was unique though! Also the drink station is kind of confusing and the Coke and Fruit water does not taste all that good. Honestly, I probably wouldn't eat here again, I just had to do it for the experience. But I will definitely furnish my entire house in this addicting Swedish furniture! read more

It's been a few years since I've been to ikea but it is still the same. You can get things for your home at very reasonable prices. The cafe is also great because you can get a meal for pretty cheap. I got the barbecue meal for $4. This was a shorter trip but I made notes of things I want to come back for in the future. read more

Yes it is. The food court has COVID restrictions in place for social distancing. I enjoyed the meatballs in March while shopping for bookcases.
