Pleasantly surprised how nice their food court was. Japanese inspired with a very open space plan. When I was there on the second floor a large gathering of trading card enthusiasts. It's also great for remote work. There plenty of options for food. Unfortunately there were any Swedish meatballs available when I got there. The department store seems fine. It's a bit smaller than the Emeryville one or it seems. I didn't see much staff wondering around guess it's more of a self discovery shopping experience. Value is ok. I don't usually shop here but plenty of college kids and something quick for your apartment or some decorations for the office.

Late post from 9/27/25 - Happy 40th Anniversary to Ikea and many more to come. So glad Ikea is in the SF downtown area conveniently located next to the Powell Muni station. Always manage to find something for the home and kitchen at reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and helpful.

We were in the area early for a show and decided to check out the IKEA store located on Market St. between 5th and 6th Sts. The store is smaller city style format with 52,000 sq ft over three floors. The store items are focused on the urban lifestyle. The selection was limited compared to the Emeryville store, where I normally shop. At Emeryville, the store is about 300,000 sq ft or about 5 times the size. The restaurant here is smaller and the menu selection were limited to two entrees, Swedish meatballs and salads versus four at Emeryville. Also, there is no free parking here since there isn't a dedicated parking lot. Glad IKEA has a city concept store in SF. But to get a full flavor of an IKEA store, you need to shop the full-scale store in Emeryville.

I only went to the foodcourt area. It was so lively! So many options of food choices too. There was Bingo being played. Anyone could play. If I wasn't in a hurry to go watch a Broadway show, I definitely would have stayed. It looked fun! Even though there were so many food options, I really just wanted the traditional Sweedish meatballs. The service was quick for our Sweedish meatballs. Tasted great! Came with peas and mashed potatoe. Cost seemed reasonable. I think it was worth. Apparently, they have events here often in their food court area. If I am ever in town, I will have to come back and check it out.

I went to IKEA today and bought a new plant and some new organization stuff for my drawers and my utensils. The total price was about 40 bucks which is a really reasonable price and it comes in clutch as well because it makes my drawers look so organized and I'm loving my new plant. The value is very good as well. The plants are A+ quality all the decor and decorations that are now in my place feels like it's more organized and I don't have to waste time looking around and searching for my utensils.

So I had to go to IKEA 2 days in a row and I have to say the customer service I received in the store was very good. Even though it seemed like floor coverage was light the workers were moving around and helping where they could. Only area that would lose stars would be the restaurant. The food was good but the workers energy was like a zombie, no engagement or even a smile. I had rather deal with a robot.

    Plants! Succulents! Very reasonably-priced

Finally came here to shop. My mom and I enjoyed walking around and bought a few things. (After measuring some things at home, we will be back to buy more here.) Prices are very reasonable. There are good sales! Good food (in the food court but also for sale.) There's a nice plant selection and many options for different price points. Staff is helpful. There's bathrooms guarded by security. Will definitely be back. This is a great addition to SF the city as well as the neighborhood.

Ikea is one of my favorite places to go to. This one has two floors and a self checkout. The workers are very helpful in finding stuff and everything is really cheap. I also went to the food court which had a wide selection of food. I got the hogdog for 1 dollar and the pullpork sandwich. They increased the price to 1.75 which is a bummer but the hitdog was ok for that price.

Super cool store love it here But, my boyfriend and I were on a trip last week. Came for the first time and bought a bunch of stuff. They do not have Barcodes on the items, which is fine but if you're going to do that, make sure your employees know what is what. A easy mistake to make I'm sure, but they should probably fix there system style so mistakes like this are not easy to make. Sadly we didn't notice till we were already on our way home the next day, so there's not much we can do about it. Again all these could be fixed if they had barcodes or sku numbers. Other than that a super cool store, employees were friendly. But wish we were not overcharged for a cheaper item, and charged for something we did NOT get. Wish we could have got our money back but we don't live in San Fran.

Since then I've really enjoyed interactions with the instructor (Karen) and the owner (Donna). Karen was very helpful in providing hands-on training to learn about 4 different techniques for chalk painting. Since taking the class, she has been super responsive and has provided a lot of helpful and creative ideas on how to work with different combinations of colors and waxes, has sent me links to some really interesting furniture, and was kind enough to send me a paint brush I left in the store. Donna has also provided a lot of very helpful advice on painting techniques and how to take care of the brushes and paint to prolong their use. She was very thoughtful in recommending that I buy smaller quantities of some of their products which she felt would be sufficient and, in turn, save the pocketbook.

The male shopkeeper was initially pleasant when I asked about a pillow. My husband joined me, and we decided the pillow's colors didn't match our decor. As we browsed, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming. Upon leaving, I thanked him, but he responded with a side-eye, glare, and silence. It's clear only potential buyers are welcome. This is unfortunate, as I'm renovating my home and this store could have been ideal. I'll take my business elsewhere, as snobbery doesn't boost sales. Why would anyone want negative energy associated with their purchase? No thanks.

Just around the corner in the same building as Tartine Manufactory is Heath Ceramics, located in the chic former industrial district called Potrero Hill. Stroll inside and you will find rows and rows of simple sturdy dinnerware that is thicker than most, and finished in a range of earthy subtle colors that can serve at a beautiful understated backdrop to the food that will be served upon it. Mind you, the prices aren't inexpensive here, but the quality is worth it, even for just a couple of pieces to cherish and take home. It's about $60/each for a dinner plate, with prices hovering around that for most pieces. Heath also makes a range of wall tiles, and their manufacturing facility dominated by a pair of massive kilns is just behind the glass windows.
