The two star reviews are from people expecting Starbucks presentation and taste. Look, you're probably not going to be able to get an arduously handcrafted soy milk skinny decaf dirty chai with a milk leaf pattern here. What you can get is a solid cup of coffee when you're tired from traveling and you won't have to wait in a crowded line. Service is quick. Price is average and commensurate with the beverage quality. Lower your expectations and grab a simple dose of caffeine; you will have a decent experience. I can't speak for people ordering fancy personalized espresso-based combinations. Food is surprisingly good here. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich. They toasted and flattened it and it was filling and actually tasty. read more

Two stars are for the nice cashier and the outside/store bought chocolate chip muffin. I got a latte and it tasted just like steamed milk. I could not taste any espresso. If I knew that I couldn't taste it, I should have just ordered a plain espresso and added my own milk from their condiments counter. I got a chocolate chip muffin for my daughter and it was moist with lots of chocolate chip so that was the ONLY good thing about this place. read more

The first thing I see when I land in Tucson was Ike's Coffee Bar. PRAISE!!! Along with being happy enough about that, I was stoked to see their medium Americano was $2 and some change. My flight got delayed and there I was, stocked in TUS for at least 2 hrs. Not only that, Ike's espresso machine broke that day and they were unable to serve anything but brewed coffee and cold tea. So, I decided to go with iced chai tea. First of all, it costs $5 for a medium-size chai, which I would have been O.K. with if I was given real chai tea. The way they made my drink was: - dump ice in cup - pour in store bought chi tea that comes in a container that looks like a wine box - pour some milk - add syrup Then WALA!, there was my $5 tea. The drink looked like water-down milk with some sweetness to it. No taste in chai, just milk and sugar. It tasted worse than those chai tea bags. Definitely not worth it! I also got a chocolate croissant, which was first of all COLD, and stale - I threw it out after taking the first bite. I also ended up tossing my drink; there goes $8 into trash at TUS airport. Stumbled to the aiport terminal at about 5am on a Saturday... and thank goodness Ike's even exists here - I mean, there aren;t too many breakfast eats in TIA to begin with - and SERIOUSLY how many shoe shing spots does one need in the airport?!?!?!? Anyhoo, ordered an iced coffee and a bran muffin stuffed with raisins. The raisins were a little over the top - but the iced coffee was actually really good. I mean, surprisingly good. Once I sat by my gate, the dude next to me whipped out this amazing breakfast burrito. That's what I call a total BMF (bran muffin FAIL) So yay to the coffee... and go find that guy's breakfast burrito spot and you're set! read more

Ike's still is far from my favorite place to get coffee, but my latest experience earned this spot an extra star. My most recent flight out of TIA was scheduled to depart at 5:45 in the morning. I was unable to take the advice I gave in my previous review, and get my caffeine fix prior to arriving at the airport. My gate was next to Ike's, and I was ordering my drink as the airline attendant was telling my group to line up to board. Thankfully the barista was able to make my drink very quickly, and the caramel latte I recieved this time around was far, far better than the latte that I wrote about it my original review. Service could have been friendlier, but it was 5:15 in the morning, I get the lack of chipperness. read more

I love Ike's, but the airport locations aren't that great. The servers aren't very friendly, the drinks are subpar and the pastries are dry. If you want a good coffee in TIA, this is your only choice. Otherwise, definitely hit one of the brick and mortar locations instead. read more

This is about IKE's at the AIRPORT. Stopped by a few weeks ago while waiting for an arrival. I ordered a medium coffee "in a large cup", as I ordinarily do at all other coffee shops. I want to have room for cream without giving up the quantity of coffee. I have never ever been refused. I got refused in this way at Ike's: she said, "well, I'll have to charge you for a large." I said, "but I'm only asking for a medium sized fill, not for the whole cup to be filled." She insisted that "because of the size of the cup itself" that I'd have to pay for the large coffee. Not her fault-someone in management has taught her this OR has not corrected her. I don't need to tell you that I just walked away. No big deal, just not good business I think. read more

On those early flights after going through being searched at security because I have steel in my leg, it is just nice to have something to look forward to. I get get regular coffee with 2 extra shots of espresso, that is enough to open me wide up and face the grueling exercise we call flying. I see that the third time is the charm with the TIA Ike's Coffee Bar. I walked up this morning and was politely greeted by the Barista and placed my order. The selection has greatly expanded and I'm glad for the variety. I passed by all the sandwich eateries because I was feeling something small. Ike's didn't disappoint. Alright... maybe just slightly, but not much. I snagged a coffee, Danish, and an apple. All of it delicious... but la apple had experienced some bruising that I didn't see when selecting it. Anywho, besides the apple I'm happy, and I'm happy to bring my yelp up a few stars (from one to three). They're deserving of it and like I said, third times the charm. read more

The Tucson airport is really limited on places to dine or get coffee. I really wanted an iced coffee before I flew out this past week...so Ike's it was. There were 3 people behind the counter playing obnoxious vulgar music on their phones. They acted as if it was really inconvienent for me to even be standing there wanting anything from any of them. Just boarded a flight that was being called for final boarding. Bought a ~$3 bottle of water and handed the cashier a $20. She gave me back change for a 5 and said that is what I had given her. The manager said the only way to verify that I was not lying was to recount the drawer while my flight was about to close boarding. I hope this review was worth the extra $15. read more

I understand that this is an airport location, but when I pay for a cappuccino, it would be super if the baristas were actually doing more than burning milk and rolling their eyes. There are only *five* people in the gate area, it's not that busy. I approached Karla and said hello and asked how she was. She looked at me with such disdain and then looked at the menu above her head and then back at me and just glared. Seriously, Karla? You can't just be pleasant ? I know most travellers are grumpy, and I always make sure to treat employees extra nicely. Karla's attitude is really unbecoming, and the burned milk and crappy service really gets my goat. If I didn't want to make a scene I'd go give the coffee back and ask for a refund. Ike's doesn't have a website so I do hope management reads these reviews. read more

recently had a 3 hour delay in Tucson, and was accompanied by my 6 year old grandson. He wanted a hot chocolate while we were waiting, not really a big request. Went to the barista, asked for a hot chocolate....was told very rudely that it wasn't on the menu, she didn't know how to charge for it, and wouldn't make one. If anyone has travelled with small children, it's a test at best. This woman obviously didn't have a heart and didn't care. I would have even paid the latte price, I asked her to just leave out the espresso.....nope, can't do it. Not on the menu. c'mon people....good help isn't really that hard to find, and sometimes it makes people really really happy when you just try to be nice, not rude and uncaring. Very rude people at the coffee place, I ordered a medium coffee with syrup of vanilla should be $2.30 dollars. They got me large Latte for 3.93. I told the lady that I did not order Latte, she was talking to me which I told her that I can't hear, I need her to write down for me. She made face then told another lady who is pregnancy and She yelled at me and I wrote down to get manager. The manager came to me and was trying to solve problem and he spoke to the ladies. The ladies talked with bad attitude. The manager was weak and told me to take the coffee. I asked for refund. The manager told the lady to give me refund. Airports always make me sleepy. I don't really know why, but I think it has something to do with the air pressure in airports. They never crack open any windows and lack of fresh air makes me sleepy. Anyway, I had two hours before my flight back to Denver and it was early and I hadn't had breakfast yet. I looked around desperately for a Starbucks and didn't see one, but I did see this Ike's so I decided I had no choice but to give them my business. There was no one in line so I just walked up and cleared my throat. The guy behind the counter was cleaning the espresso machine so I waited patiently. A minute later he tells me he's ready so I ask for a caramel macchiato. He tells me that the espresso machine is broken. Why was he cleaning a malfunctioning machine then? So I order a medium soy caramel chai and a croissant. He looks around and says "Croissants? We don't sell those here sir." "Umm...yeah you do, they are right there next to the muffins and cookies" He finally see's them and grabs one for me and tosses it in a bag. He then goes to the little refrigerator and looks inside and tells me that they're out of soy milk. It's like 11:30 AM and they're out of soy milk already? So he makes my tea with whole cow's milk and then takes my money. That entire transaction took about 10 minutes which is like a week for a café. The croissant was stale and dry. I will never take advantage of the warm buttery croissants from Starbucks again. The caramel chai was disgusting. It didn't take like the chai latté's that I've had in the past. I didn't taste the caramel or the chai spices at all. It was like drinking unsweetened red tea with milk. They should try harder to get a Starbucks franchise in here. read more

It's okay to be probably new and not well-trained yet, but at least let me know if you're trying to melt my insides. Just went to Ike's at TIA. Server could barely get off her cell phone long enough to wait on me. Was charged 65 cents for a cup of hot water. I also bought a muffin. The next customer was not charged for a cup of ice, which was the only thing she ordered. Guess the rule is to treat the buying customers worse than the non-buying. read more

I was at the Tucson airport yesterday, while I waited for my flight to depart, I stopped by Ike's coffee & Tea at gate B7 at around 5 PM. The lady behind the counter was bitter and mean! I asked her for a Latte and she just stood there and looked at me for a while, after the awkward moment, I told her what I wanted again, she rolled up her eyes and asked what size. After that I asked her for splenda and she became very rude and angry! I suggest that Ike's pays more attention to the people that they hire. It's obvious that this woman is not happy at her job and is taking it out on the customers. I did tell her that she should try to change her attitude and she said that the owners knew she was like that and that she couldn't change. She said that's just the way she is because she is Russian! What does that have to do with being Mean and Rude!.....lady, you're not in Russia anymore!...VERY BAD EXPERIENCE, I have never felt so humiliated. I will never go back to this place again. read more
