I stopped by here as I wanted some coffee while grabbing lunch next-door. It was a cute little coffee shop. I decided to get the latte with added caramel syrup. I also saw variety of empanadas, so I decided to try the pineapple. The pineapple empanada was heated up and it was hot. It was tasty, but it wasn't anything special. My latte was a little bit sweet. Overall, it was $16 and I'm not sure if it was that worth the price. The service was friendly and quick. If you're in the area, I think it'll be OK to stop and try it. read more

This charming local coffee spot is perfect for a downtown pick me up. Sweet soft music gentle calmed my nervous system as I entered Ikes. The friendly staff greeted me and took my order. Iced hazelnut latte and super BLT. I sat by the window, a view of the metal sculpture in front of the library and people walking by. I felt the serenity of the moment. This place provides a cozy nook to get some work done or meet up with a friend. There is a small outdoor patio on the corner for some fresh air. The sandwich was delicious and came with a side salad. Although it was tasty, I'm not sure if I would call it super as it was a bit thin. Overall I am so grateful for this place, it's is in a great location and fairly priced for this economy. read more

I haven't had a chance to try any pastries or sit down there yet, but the coffee is consistently great, and the service is always fast, easy, and friendly. Stopped over to grab some lunch, as there were signs that said sandwiches and salads. Definitely was more of a coffee place than a sit-down eatery. Ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. The sandwich was okay. Unique cheeses and well melted/crispy but rather flat. The salad that came on the side was a bit wilted. The dressing was very good. I ordered a chocolate croissant/pastry on the way out. It almost tasted stale with chocolate chips that were not incorporated into the pastry. Definitely not worth the calories. It's located in a lobby of a building, so there's a lot of elevator traffic. The staff was friendly, so that was a positive. Maybe the coffee is better than the food and atmosphere? This morning is a very special morning for me, I graduate college so I decided to try a new coffee shop, I came with no expectations and let me say that the staff is extremely kind and patient, they have amazing customer service and they are fast and efficient, they were getting everyone's order done while smiling and having a great attitude, I got a cookie, a cinnamon pecan roll, a peppermint mocha latte from their December menu and it's so delicious, the peppermint isn't overwhelming, my boyfriend got a red eye for those who don't know a red eye is espresso and coffee together. Over 10/10 and prices are really good we got two medium coffees and two pastries for 15 bucks, what a deal!!! Come visit this local downtown coffee shop!!! read more

Go-to coffee shop for government workers in the area. Pleasant interior, light and airy, but the chairs are hard wood so don't plan to sit for too long. Great view of the area out of the big windows. Nice selection of coffees, nothing real exotic but they cover all the bases. Good selection of pastries, and they serve sandwiches at lunch. I stopped in to have a latte. I selected the July special raspberry and white mocha and I enjoyed the taste. The atmosphere of Ike's reminds me of establishments in DC. It is cozy and built for efficiency. As a college professor, I like to look for coffee places that are a little more inviting so I can stay and do some research and writing. Even without the Covid-19 pandemic, Ike's does not present the atmosphere I am looking for in a coffee house. I don't come to Ike's super often, even though it's the closest to my office, because a lot of the coffee runs too sweet for my taste (which is saying something, I assure you). But I popped in today and was greeted by a friendly and enthusiastic barista who was knowledgeable about the menu options and just chatty enough to be pleasant but not annoying. I ordered a peach scone and an April special- the Rosé All Day. The drink is a white chocolate mocha latte with a touch of rose syrup, and I ordered it with oat milk. Delicious! Manager Alison is very rude. Under her management, there has been a huge turnover of workers. In just a few years, there have been dozens of workers come and go. Alison belittled and harassed an employee so much that he slapped her in the face and quit. Alison has now begun to be rude to customers like myself. For several weeks she has been argumentative with me. Recently I have been avoiding her, but this morning she demanded to be the cashier for my order. She then engaged in a needless argument with me. I asked her to stop, and just take my payment, but she did not stop. She continued arguing with me over and over again. I could not just leave because I had to pay. After I finally paid, I went to the security desk. As I was speaking to the security guard, Alison insisted on speaking with me. I told Alison that I did not want to speak with her, and she insisted several more times; at which point I had to threaten to call the police for Alison to back off and leave. The security guard herself even told me that Alison had once rudely taken a parking spot that the security guard had already paid for. Alison's workers routinely confide in customers that Alison is very hard to work for. Alison should not be a manager. read more

I have no clue why it took me so long to meander into Ike's Coffee & Tea, but I am so happy that I did! We stopped by on today's lunch break, and I was thrilled to find a seasonal selection of coffee drinks as well as a decent sized lunch menu / food offerings. I opted for the "Pumpkin Pie White Mocha" half sweet, and a Greek Salad. The salad was priced extremely well, and made with the freshest of ingredients. Cannot wait to try their other salad options! My coffee was pretty good, but still a tad too sweet for my liking. I picked up a punch card on my way out, so I can come back and earn some rewards in the mean time! I'm not a fan. Both times I've gotten lunch here I was very very very disappointed. The latest time was getting a sandwich that had turkey on it, and they added TUNAFISH to it! I didn't discover this addition until I started eating it and tasted something SOUR -- it was the TUNA!! So gross. Not sure if it's the owner who doesn't really care about food quality or customer experience or the staff just need an overhaul in Customer Service, but the overall vibe is that you are bothering them when you come into the shop - even when there's no one else there. I also love this gluten free crescent shaped, chocolate dipped, coconut macaroon cookie they sometimes have at the counter l! I'm not gluten free, but it's so tastes. I stopped in on the way back from the parking garage to the Pima County jury assembly room during a lunch break. Ike's was a random stop that was there when the thought to have something for lunch hit me ... and there it was ... just across the street! It was an extremely pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was upbeat, modern and immaculate with sufficient seating for quick stop lunch crowd. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The sandwich menu offered a decent variety - I ordered their William Tell (turkey & provolone with slices of Granny Smith apple on a baguette) and a cup of coffee. The sandwich was both generous and tasty. What more can I say? If you're in downtown Tucson, looking for something quick that ISN'T "fast food", I can't think of a better place. I really hope the bakery stuff gets improved soon. I used to get a zucchini muffin here every morning, but stopped when for weeks the muffins tasted stale and dry. Plus, half the time I wouldn't even get the correct one - they would give me a morning glory. Which is less than ideal as I'm allergic to carrots. After a long hiatus, I decided to give it a try again. Get my muffin... Hoof all the way back to my office, crack open my muffin to find - morning glory. The last 3 times I've ordered, all three times given the wrong one. And just opening this muffin with my hands, I see it still feels dry. Also, I fear that Ike's has gone too far hipster. I know that is the vibe there, but another reason I cut down my patronage was because the staff there had become increasingly bored, annoyed and just plain slow. Drinks has grounds in them, and wait times were longer and longer. Given its prime location and being a fixture of downtown, Ike's will never want for business. First, the service was great and friendly and right on time. However, being on keto, I needed a salad and their Gotham salad appeared to be approaching a Cobb salad so I went for it. It wasn't good at all. Just about the whole salad seemed overly processed, even the eggs (I didn't know you could over process eggs). I'm thinking that the squares in the salad was chicken and there were other squares that I'm not sure of. And the salad is not cheap- $9 and change. A Baggins Cobb (also on Stone?) is much better, not even close, and maybe $1 more. I'm sure Ikes sandwiches are good but they need to switch vendors for their salads. read more

I work right across the street from Ikes and only come in here about once a month. It seems that every time I come in here, there is a whole new set of staff. I think it is because this place is pretty whack. The drinks and food are overpriced and the service is really inconsistent. There is nothing about this place that screams quality or value. For me, Ike's is about a drink called a Cassandra. One day I went in for a cup of coffee. The permanent menu had all the mochas and lattes listed, but then I looked at the obligatory coffeehouse chalkboard with the daily specials. It was there that I found my muse. Cassandra. A courageous innovation by its namesake barrista, a Cassandra is a creative concoction that spins the mocha up into a whole new Mexican flavored animal--with a stinger. It starts with coffee, chocolate and steamed milk, but then to that Cassandra was inspired to add cinnamon (somewhat expected) along with a bit of cayenne pepper, thus kicking it up a notch. Having lived a stint in Mexico, I've long been a fan of traditional Mexican "chocolate", but this was entirely different. Rich, sweet and warm with a zinging afterburn. The downside of Ike's Downtown? 1) Overall, the food is fine but a bit pricey for portions. 2) I'd love to sit a spell, but with no wifi, they're not going to get a second cup out of me. But don't go for the food or to stay a long time. If you're looking for a quick stop for a java fix when you're downtown, Ike's is a solid choice with lots of creative options. If you're feeling up for a coffee adventure, go for a Cassandra. Sabroso. read more

This is a great place to stop by when you work downtown and you need a quick pick me up. I've never had any of the food, but the coffee is always great.
