I went with the Chicken Fried Steak sandwich, loaded with lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes, while my wife chose the Tuna Salad sandwich. Both came out after a short wait, and wow--they were fantastic! The chicken fried steak was perfectly cooked (not overdone or underdone at all), with just the right amount of fresh toppings and a great bun. Everything was balanced, flavorful, and honestly one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. (Pro tip: their signature Dirty Sauce makes it even better if you go for it!) These sandwiches are great when you want to try something new. I'd never had them before and at first, I was surprised to pay so much for a sandwich. I found out the quality was great but the quantity was not. I got something with three meats and I could barely tell there was any on my sandwich. I was expecting a bit more for the price but it was nice to try something new. The Togo package was great though. They remembered everything and they gave us two lollipops. However, my next one was a disappointment. They really fell short on their seasonal offerings. Their Thanksgiving sandwich just wasn't good. Pairing sliced deli turkey with cranberry sauce didn't work -- the sauce just overwhelmed it. I think you need actual turkey breast to balance the sauce. I've been to this location twice now, the first time unfortunately I cannot remember so we will safely assume it was a good first. The second, most recent visit however, was a bit disappointing. I was originally looking for Friday the 13th but the employee said they only have that at the RR location. Bummer- but not her fault. Moving on, I get my second favorite: Name of the girl I'm dating. Loaded with honey mustard, chicken, cheese, avocado, and added lettuce and tomato. The wait time was minimal and she even brought it to me at the table which was very kind of her. While the customer service was excellent, the food itself was the letdown. My sandwich didn't taste like it normally does until the very last bite. Literally the very last bite. No honey mustard I'm guessing? And they added pickles...? I'm 100% a pickle girl BUT some things just done jive with pickles. This sandwich being one of them. Because it's kinda of a messy sandwich I didn't risk opening up, searching, and removing them. Although in hindsight I should have. I waited in front of the register for approximately 15 minutes while the only employee on duty was preparing sandwiches. I explained that I wasn't ordering food and only needed to purchase a gift card, which would have taken less than a minute.Unfortunately, I was told that the sandwiches had to be completed first, despite there being brief opportunities between customers to quickly assist me. There was no customers standing in in front me btw. While I understand that food orders are important, a simple acknowledgment or effort to help a customer with a quick transaction would have gone a long way.The lack of urgency, communication, and customer service left me feeling ignored and unvalued. Ike's in Texas!!! Been eating at Ike's when in the bay and now I get to enjoy it out here! Can't go wrong with Beast mode or Matt Cain but the 95.7 Damon Bruce is also good. Pro tip if you like pesto ask for the green pesto sauce! Only thing I'll mention that shouldn't be a surprise with todays market is the price. This was my first time at Ike's. The menu is extremely overwhelming (seemingly dozens and dozens of options) so I ordered the first thing on the menu, Paul Reuben, with chips and a drink. The total was $19.93. The cashier then flipped the iPad around to ask for a tip. While I waited for my order I sat down at a table and prepared to write the most scathing review in history about the audacity of charging $20 for a sandwich. While sitting I took in the decor, which I believe the kids these days would describe as "cringe." It could not be more "how do you do, fellow kids?" and just had to be embarrassing on purpose. If Chuck Norris jokes were a restaurant it would be Ike's. The music they were playing was awesome - as a child of the '90s it was right up my alley. I also really enjoyed the cream soda from the fountain. Then the sandwich came, and sweet baby Jesus it was big. I was absolutely starving by this time (it was 8:30 at night) and could still only put away half of it. It was amazing in every bite, and the bread in particular was incredible. It was late in the evening so the staff was getting everything cleaned up but they were still friendly and polite. This is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and I eat a lot of sandwiches. I would love to return to try more from the menu but I will have to hit the lottery jackpot to afford it. If my meal had been, say, $12-15 instead of $20 I would be writing a 5-star review from the Ike's dining room while carefully avoiding looking at any of the "funny" decor. So we are BIG Jersey Mike's fans, nothing in Georgetown we have found beats them. We went to Ike's with the bar set high...and I think this is our new #1 sub shop. I had the Da Vinci and hubby had the Elvis Kieth both on sour dough. The size was perfect. They cut the sandwich in two and wrapped each piece individually! This worked for me because I only had half for lunch. Will have the other half for supper. Hubby said "I'm not saving mine" and ate it all We are definitely coming back and trying a different one next time. Depending on which sub you get, they range from $10.95-$15.51 and have vegetarian options too. Staff were super friendly and answered my questions about the different sauces they have.
