My new favorite sub joint! I got a large salami with spicy peppers and it really hit the spot. It took them awhile to make my sandwich, but I like that they take their time to make it just right. The guy that made mine was really nice too. I noticed people complaining about their customer service, but I didn't experience any problems. The only thing I could see as a problem was that the other employees were laughing and joking while there was a line of customers. This location needs serious attention from upper management. The store, especially food prep areas and bathrooms need a deep cleaning. The counter and glass windows on the counter have not been cleaned in apparently years. The staff in general are disheveled, disgruntled and appear unkempt. I came in and ordered the Lady Bird which is their chicken salad. The sandwich maker spread a thin layer of chicken salad on my sandwich. So thin that I could not even taste the chicken salad on my sandwich. The picture of the sandwich shows an abundance of chicken salad which is how it should be. Mine was so lacking in chicken salad it may as well have been a vegetarian. While I was there, one of the employees reprimanded another employee for labeling the sandwiches in a large to go order. Why? Wouldn't that make it easier for the customer to know what sandwich belongs to who without having to open them? But when I come in for a Austin club and the girl only asks for bread and size. literally nothing else and you realize she is still missing ingredients for the actual sandwich. And still up charges for the sandwich.... Do you just pay and walk away or complain to the other person especially if it's their busy hour? Coming back to Central Texas it was great to get back to one of my go-to sandwich shops. I took my family's unknowing taste buds away from the bland, overrated national chain that gives underground trains a bad name. This is still one of the better, quick sandwiches you can get in the area. The meat is cut properly and flavorful. The bread (which I feel is so overlooked by some chains) is very good here and accents the sandwich instead of dominating it. The service was good and the restaurant was neat. The sandwich's have great names and ingredients that's sound awesome but I've tried this place several time to give it a chance, but every time the taste is bland. The bread taste factory made too. I wouldn't normally post to comment on boring food but the other thing about this location is the staff is pretty rude in my opinion. Just unfriendly. Not just once, but each time I've given them a chance. Each time the person taking your order can't even make eye contact, or make you feel like they're glad you've chosen their establishment. I don't need my any part of me kissed when I walk in, but a "welcome in, what can I get for you?" might be novel. All you get is "next". Almost thought I was in Manhattan with an awesome metropolitan city outside it's doors with some culture. Nope small town USA. This was the last of my local sub shops I had to try and it makes the top 3 behind 1) Hoody's and 2) The Blind Squirrel (both in Round Rock). Of all the sub shops locally I'd say this one is the most efficient. I like the location and the decor too and while the menu isn't as inspiring as the other 2 listed above what they do they do well. The bread and fillings are all clearly fresh (unlike Wich 'Wich) and they have a good selection of chips and drinks. I went with the Office Favorite; egg and bacon on a whole wheat sub. They are not too big so I decided on a large which was a good decision. It was just the right size on its own with no chips or sides. I will add this to the regular rotation along with Hoody's, The Blind Squirrel and (sorry) Subway (which is hard to beat on price and selection). read more

One employee asked us to step aside so she could help another customer while we were still being served. Thundercloud has great food for the money and it is one of the few places in Downtown for a inexpensive filling meal.There is always a sandwich on special as well. Store is clean, and the employees are a friendly bunch of people. I work in the area, and have spent many an lunch hour here, listening to great music, people watching, and using the free wifi. This was my first experience at thunder cloud and I have to say it wasn't a great first impression. I ordered an Austin club with man behind the counter without avacado because I am allergic. He accidentally put the avacado on the bread and I had to remind him that I was allergic. Then he proceeded to wipe off the avacado from the bread. (Which will still have avacado on it.) I let him know that we will need a NEW bread. He made me a new sandwich. The sandwich was just ok. I don't think I will be eating at Thunder cloud again. read more

Took about 30 minutes to make our five subs and one salad. He put pastrami on our Italian subs and when I called him out he said, "no that is capicola". I am appalled at how rude the employees are here. From the seconded we started ordering the guy making our sandwiches gave us attitude. We told him first thing we had a coupon as we ordered. The girl who rang us up gave us our total without the coupon and we said again we had a coupon. She snatched it out of my husband's hand with an eye roll. When I reminded the guy we had told him about the coupon he said "I'm sorry if I didn't hear you. You don't have to be so rude". My husband explained how he is the most passive person and never calls people out on their behavior but that this guy's attitude was horrible. I asked for the managers name and number. When I was given it I tried calling which just rang the store. And the girl behind the counter said "are you seriously calling right now? It's just a f@&$ing sandwich". And I had my 3 young children with me. I asked her if she seriously just swore at me and she walked away and stormed into the back room. It's obvious this location has a problem with customer service but this is beyond anything I've ever experienced. How the manager/owner allows this type of unacceptable behavior is unbelievable.
