My girlfriend loves uni, and this restaurant wasn't too far from our hotel so we gave it a try for our second lunch in Miami. We walked in and was seated pretty quickly since it was mostly empty. They didn't have the sake I wanted to try, so the server recommended another one... was a bit weak so after finishing the first small bottle we ordered the big bottle of it. We started off with miso soup, was so salty... which isn't a good sign for a sushi restaurant and it's a pricey restaurant that automatically included 20% gratuity. With only one server working, was so at times. After eating some sushi, some good some bad, we ordered tempura udon and it was so salty... we only liked the four orders of uni, everything else... don't waste your money. Our bill was over $400 and it wasn't worth it, walked out still hungry... and we don't really eat a lot.

Tempura ( today it had shrimp, white fish, green peppers that were not spicy, onion ring. Two pieces each and all of it was delicious! )

Really good and unique sushi, sashimi dishes. Everything tasted and looked very fresh. The service was prompt and very friendly. The ambiance is nice both indoors and outside seating. The vibe was clean , classy yet casual. We will definitely be back for more ! We saw a few dishes on our way out the door that we will be back to try !

Loooved Ikigai! We went there during Miami Spice and loved everything we ate. The fish was so fresh and tasty. We were concerned we wouldn't be full so we ordered an extra item - the Crispy Umami Shrimp which we did not regret at all because it was one of our favorite items. Service was super friendly. The interior of the restaurant is very cozy. The only thing we were caught off guard with was that we were asked if we wanted fresh wasabi, assuming it was included, but it ended up being an extra fee. Overall the food was top notch and we can't wait to come back!

This is a new spot, everything inside is brand new and shiny, you can tell they put a lot of thought into everything down to the smallest detail to make this look and feel like traditional Japanese dining experience. We did Miami spice but also ordered some nigiri ala carte. Service was quick and our waiter was very polite and explained everything. The food was as delicious as you would expect, all pieces hit really well expect for maybe mackerel which could use some more flavor and the scallop which had some smudge on top of it that I personally didn't like.

We had a girls night at Ikigai to try their Miami Spice menu and it was great! There's a parking garage located right next to the building that can be validated at the hostess stand so it's $8 but there's a garage across the roundabout that is free so I would recommend parking there. The interior is beautiful and the service is great. We all tried different things off of the Miami Spice menu but all of our favorites were the nigiri. The fish is very fresh!! We were still hungry after the set menu so we also ordered some handrolls which were all very good. The only critique I have is although the service was great by being quick and we were checked in on frequently, our main server seemed like they didn't know the menu well. I have a gluten intolerant friend so she asked about what was in certain dishes and things he would recommend but each time it seemed like he didn't know how to answer. Maybe he's new so we cut him some slack. Overall, it is a place I'd go back to for a special occasion and Miami Spice was a great way to try it!

8/10 on the sushi for being in Brickell key, but the service and atmosphere are on par for a great hidden Japanese vibe.

With their soft opening well on the way to great success, Brickell Key's newest hot spot is ready for your Japanese pallet. Let's start with the decor, oh my gosh, love the simply open modern Japanese style brown (bamboo brown), black and gray colors combination. The space is very clean, sushi bar area, lovely drinking bar area, beautiful tableware. Love the low yet, bright enough lighting. The staff is uniformed in all black, they look exceptionally sharp. Friendly and beautiful host greets you with a smile, get you seated with a menu which has a great variety of Nigiri, Temaki, Sashimi, Rolls, the regular classic Japanese sides, house special and classic Japanese desserts. The Fresh Wasabi for the Sashimi was delicious however I was not expecting it to have a charge seeing that it was done without us asking for it, nonetheless very tasty. The Otoro, Hamachi, Akami, Unagi and Hamachi Serrano Sashimi were all so freshly delicious I order second serving for all of these. They literally melted in the mouth. Our sushi bar experience was great Chef Nacho was the absolute best, he was friendly and his sashimis were chef's kiss. Ask him to make something special, thank me later. We had both the Mochi Ice (passion fruit flavor) and Matcha Cheesecake which were absolutely delicious. The texture and flavor were very pungent is a great tasting way. The cheesecake melted in the mouth. Perfect way to end a great delicious meal. Cheers to a great experience, welcome to the new restaurant on the block wishing them all the success.

Wonderful experience with hands on ownership! I arrived for a private event hosted here and the service was on point, the food was incredibly fresh and delicious and the vibes were right. Loved visiting this spot, and would recommend anyone looking for delicious sushi in the brickell key area to make a stop here!

Part of me wants this place to stay on the down low, but they deserve all the hype. This spot is a hidden gem on Brickell Key. The restaurant is really nice for a quiet date night. There's also a chef's counter, which is fun to watch. I highly recommend everything I had, but especially the smoked kampachi with apples and pecorino, the white fish tiradito, and the nigiri. Get here before the world finds out!

Great food, amazing atmosphere, beautiful view with nice places and great walking facilities

Everything tasted okay, very average dining experience. Personally would not go out of my way to come back here. Cute place though and nice service.

After a walk around Brickell Key we enjoyed the hospitality and amazing food at Ikigai Sushi Bar. The owners were very welcoming and the service was superb. Great place, highly recommended, many of us will be returning! https://www.instagram.com/ikigai_miami -- in Brickell Key.

I came here with some friends after an event for Miami Spice and wasn't sure what to expect. The atmosphere was modern, clean, and pleasantly not too noisy. The server was attentive and guided us through the menu, which was helpful. The food itself was decent for Miami Spice Lunch like $35, but the portions were on the smaller side, so it didn't feel very filling. Considering the price, I would say it was just okay. Overall, it was a fine experience, but I'm not certain I would return.

We chose the Oma Deluxe because we wanted the entire experience. Francisco explained each sushi and what part of the fish we were eating. Each dish was brought out separately. There were about 9 pieces of different cuts of fish. They were delicious! My daughter had Sake and I had Non-alcoholic beer. Both went fine with our meal. Afterwards, we were served dessert. What a great experience! Give it a try when you can. Later, we went upstairs to ASTRA restaurant and bar to further enjoy our evening with beautiful views of Miami. The atmosphere was really great, and the service was fine. Our issue was the sushi. We tried a lot of different nigiri's, sashimi, and handrolls: the only thing that we really enjoyed was the seared salmon; everything else was meh, with the chu-toro being particularly disappointing . I have had a good amount of chu-toro in my life and this had to be one of the poorest quality pieces ever....it essentially tasted exactly like regular ahi, without having any more discernable fat on it than a standard piece of tuna. A cool place to come and have drinks and/or the seared salmon. But as far as the rest of the sushi, I wouldn't come back for that.

However, if your most expensive sushi roll is $29, and it's the only roll that comes with 5 pieces instead of 10 pieces, there should most definitely be a mention of that on the menu. While our other friends who ordered literally any other roll got a full size portion, it came as a shock to the table when those who ordered the truffle Maki roll received 5, small pieces. The spicy edamame was pretty good. The sauce wasn't just spicy, but tasty. The miso soup was good as well. For drinks, the espresso martini wasn't out of this world, it just tasted like every other espresso martini you'd get at any bar. Our waiter was pretty good considering we had a large party of 24 people. At first he seemed overwhelmed, but thankfully they were able to recognize that and gave him two extra hands to help with orders, drinks, and water refills. The restaurant aesthetic was cute and had a few nice backdrops for photos. However, good luck using the bathroom. The one women's toilet did not flush and was backed up completely with toilet paper. This forced us to use the one men's bathroom, which was also backed up, but not as bad as the women's. To wash your hands there was a small trickle of water. Seems like they have plumbing or pipe issues. Overall was decent, but I won't be back.

The interior is dim and clubby, and the seating was comfortable. Our server had someone from the Miami Beach location training with her, so we had some extra attention. We started with a round of cocktails and since this meal took place approximately a month ago, I can't remember what we ordered, but we were all pleased! Off the spice menu, we had both karagee starters (chicken and shrimp). Three of us had the hama kama for the main, and Larry had the pork belly. We also ordered 2 each of the desserts (fried milk sundae and matcha cake) The food was all very good. We took a pass on ordering sake due to the wild markup on their sake menu. When all was said and done, the bill came to $500 for four people with tax and tip and while the service was certainly friendly, it was not remotely professional. The food did not all come out at the same time. Larry had to wait until the rest of us were almost finished with the mains before his pork belly came to the table. The starters were also not brought out together (although there was a less of a wait for all of the plates to arrive). They also brought out the wrong desserts (3 of one kind instead of 2 and 2). Are these major dealbreakers? Of course not and I feel a little silly typing it out; however, eating at Uchi is not an everyday experience (for most of us!) and when spending this much, I don't think it's asking too much for the service to be on point. At least there wasn't the typical waitstaff beg for even more tip since they don't auto gratuity.
