Food was very good. However, apparently you can't order a pizza in the dining room unless you are under 12 and want an appetizer according to our waitress Maria ! We watched other tables in the dining room get served pizza (no children at the table). Maria finds it very inconvenient to serve you food in the dining room from the bar menu. While other waiters don't seem to have a problem. We ordered from the dinner menu as well so not like we took someone else's reservation. Terrible attitude . Omg this place was amazing!!! I've gone to the bar before and didn't like it much but this time we had dinner in the dining room and it was a completely different experience! The portions are too small at the bar the dining room is definitely the way to go! I had a disappointing experience at this place. We were appreciative that they took our large group of 10 last minute, however we were shoved into a tight corner by the front door, even though the restaurant had other space. I believe we were given this spot because we had 2 little kids with us. So our waiter approached us and said what can I get you guys to drink? We got no hello or nothing, which set a bad tone right away. Throughout the visit, the staff seemed disorganized and inattentive. We had to remind them multiple times about our drinks, which were completely forgotten, he finally brought them after our dinner arrived and did not even apologize. The only time he came to us was to let us know kitchen was closing so we definitely felt like he was rushing us, didn't even ask if everything was ok, basic hospitality! After we received our bill tip was included which is understandable for our group size, but on our way out we just wanted to make a point to our server that for the gratuity being added automatically the service was horrible! He responded with its written in the menu! We said where in the menu does it state you get horrible service. Yet he still did not apologize or ask why, him and his co worker just laughed at us on our way out! Definitely not the level of service I expected as I am a restaurant owner and a server there too at times! Just a little disclaimer, just because you are guaranteed a tip because of large group size, does not mean you neglect your table. A simple sorry I forgot your drinks would have been nice! read more

We had a fantastic dining experience at Il Corso. The waiter, Enzie was warm and attentive. The Seafood Risotto was delicious and on par with food we had in Italy last month. We made a last minute reservation on a Friday night. Nothing was available on open table but we called and somebody had just canceled so we got a patio table. The place was packed when we arrived. We did not know they had valet parking so we parked a short walk away. The service was excellent. They brought me grilled veggies for an app as I requested vegan and gluten free. They said my pasta was also vegan and gf but I'm not sure as I had severe stomach pains after. I question whether some cheese was in my pasta?? Everybody else enjoyed calamari, pastas, veal, tiramisu and lemoncelo sorbet. They also had wines. Lovely atmosphere. read more

I haven't dinned here for several years but I remember I loved their pasta I had last time. This time, I'm on low carb diet so I wasn't quite sure what to order. I chose grilled calamari appetizer and special of the day, swordfish. What a pleasant surprise!! Usually Italian restaurants have fried calamari which I love but I never had grilled ones. It was so so good and I seriously want to plan to dine there again soon particularly for that dish! Sword fish was cooked with salt and pepper and came with sautéed spinach with tomatoes as garnish. Sometimes swordfish can be very dry but it was moist, tender, seasoned perfectly! I haven't been satisfied this much at any restaurants for long time. My friends had pasta dish and stuffed zucchini flower appetizer which they were very happy with it too. Ambience was also very pretty and nice. Our server was wonderful but little too busy which was the only small disappointment but I am looking forward to dinning there again soon! read more

I have to give Il Corso two stars based on the fact that their bartender (who calls himself Monkey Boy), stands on top of the counter tops to fill the shelves above the bar. He stepped on the bar towel and even mats where they store clean glasses (rim side down). My husband and I each had a glass of wine and a glass of water. We felt sick knowing our glasses had been sitting where he stepped. Disgusting. read more

Deserves 3.5 to be fair. This place used to be my top 3 favorite restaurants in Palm Desert. Sadly, that changed this last visit. Our large group arrived to the restaurant and first thing we noticed was the extreme heat in the restaurant. It had been 115 earlier that day and there was hardly a difference between the indoor and outdoor temperature. At first we thought we must be really hot from being outside and would soon feel the A/C. Well we were wrong. After looking around, many people were fanning themselves, women were arranging their hair up off their necks, and people were changing tables to different areas of the room, we then realized it wasn't just us. The waitress took forever to greet us as we sat without water sweating profusely. Finally when she arrived she was brief and unfriendly, never brought a wine/cocktail menu until we asked, which again, took forever and then again a long wait for her to return and take the drink order. No option to add an appetizer as she rushed off before we could ask. After another lengthy wait the drinks arrived and we decided to skip the appetizers as we had been in the restaurant close to 30 min by now. When the food came, some people said it was delicious and some mentioned it felt rushed and wasn't cooked to the usual flavors we were anticipating. The waitress checked on our group only once during the meal, and even the table next to us seemed annoyed with her. To add to the unpleasantness of our visit, a family next to us had their children watching cartoons on their iPhones at a very loud volume completely disrupting the conversations we were trying to enjoy. When we asked about the A/C we were told it had been broken for almost 2 weeks and they weren't planning on fixing it because they were closing in a few more weeks. So they were blatantly making their customers extremely uncomfortable out of sheer disregard. The very least they could have done was brought in fans to circulate the air or portable air conditioning to assist. Instead they shrugged off everyone's noticeable discomfort and collected the checks instead. I am very disappointed that our once favorite will now be on the back burner for dinner options. read more

Well very interesting we were in and out under 1 hour . As fast as In and Out ( the chain) my second course came while we were eating our salad . As a result I had to hold my salad plate up to my face as there was no room at the table . This definitely has resorted to a fast food semi Italian food chain. So it is good for when you are in a rush or on the road or driving a semi. As we were eating at 7:55 pm all the blinds came down . It was a rush job in all aspects. I love Il Corso for it's magnificent Sicilian dishes...arancini, grilled calamari, pasta alla Norma so I'm very sorry to have to post anything negative. Tonight someone in our party ordered the spaghetti alla vongole and 1/4 of the clams were bad/unopened. I mentioned it to both our waiter and to the manager who came by at the end of our meal. aside from an apology from the waiter the manager did absolutely nothing to offer any degree of compensation.... not so much as to offer a lemoncello to the affected guest. Some dear friends bought us a gift card and this was our first time at this restaurant but most likely our last. We had looked at the online menu before we arrived and my wife wanted to order pizza. We mentioned it to our server, but she apologized and said the pizza was part of the bar menu and wasn't available in the main dining room. While we were eating we noticed pizza being delivered to two other tables near us in the main dining room. I asked our server about it after we had already finished most of our meal. She seemed flustered and said, "They must have ordered it as an appetizer or something." I said, "I didn't know that was an option." She said, "Oh, maybe they ordered it ahead or something." She was obviously caught off-guard by the question and did a poor job trying to make up an excuse. We later saw our server hugging the patrons at one of the pizza tables like they were old friends, and it felt like we were treated like second class citizens. Admittedly most of the food was tasty, but the roasted potatoes were bland, and we ordered chocolate cake for dessert that was pretty dry. Although the food tasted good, it was definitely overpriced. There are other restaurants very nearby on El Paseo that are worth those high prices. read more

After having a great experience here we went back for my birthday. I'm now understanding many other one-star reviews, the service is horrible. The large woman with the Indian bracelets around her wrist was our server, she had the charm of a McDonald's cashier. When we're spending $300 for a special occasion dinner would be nice to have someone who at least gives a crap about what is going on at the table. She asked how the food was I told her that mine wasn't that great explain to her what was wrong and she argued with me. Then my birthday dessert was one scoop of vanilla ice cream, after spending $300 I expected a little bit more than that! The servers who placed the appetizers on the table had an "I don't give a shit attitude" just flopping the plate on the table. The main courses were handled with a bit more care but this front of house here needs a lot of help. The first time we were here it was earlier in the day and much quieter so I guess we got the attention of the main waiter who was excellent but this lady should not be working in a restaurant like this. read more

What a joke. They do not use any electronic means for reservations so you have to call to make reservations. No online website reservations, no Opentable etc. I called 36 hours before dining to make a reservation. No one answered so I left a message---no return call Called the afternoon of when we wanted to dine , no answer, so I left a detailed message describing the reservation I am making for the evening. Got to the restaurant, they did not have my reservation. They had not checked their phone messages in 36 hours. So there I was 90 minutes before a live performance and no place to go. This restaurant is just not good. We went because it had so many positive reviews, but I don't know how. First, we asked if they had a kids menu for our 1 year old son. Our server said no, but they can just make a pasta with marinara or butter. So we ordered him penne with a meatball. What we got was an adult sized portion for $26!! I ordered a "margherita pizza." What I got was a plain old cheese pizza with a load of greasy cheese. I sent it back and told the waitress it wasn't what I was expecting because this isn't a margherita pizza, she checked with the chef and came back and tried to tell me that what they have is the real margherita the way they do it in Italy. When I called the next day as soon as I could reach someone was told they got tossed as that's what they do. This place was outstanding it seems as if you are not in Palm Desert but rather in Las Vegas, Nyc or Scottsdale. Roaring ceilings with a massive wine rack with an attached ladder. Stacked stone , huge glass windows and plenty of staff so we never longed for anything. Stemware and Glassware outstanding. Everything pristine and organized The food omg. I was at the restaurant for my friend's birthday party. The ambience was very good, but the food was way too salty. After the main dish, I order a dessert and coffee. They brought a cup of lukewarm coffee, so I complained. They said they would bring freshly brewed coffee, but it was heated with a microwave. I knew it because the coffee was overflowed from the cup and this type of high-end restaurant servers do not make this type of error. On the top of this, the server brought a pot of coffee when my friends asked for refills, which was so diluted with water I could not believe it. I did not complain anymore because I did not want to ruin the good time with friends that night. This was just horrible experience and I would never visit there anymore. read more

Just Like Italy! There are few times that I can honestly say that I loved every part of my meal! The ambiance and people who work there are fabulous! The chef is undoubtedly very talented! My meal was authentic, fresh Italian food, just like I was in Portofino!! . The Salmone alla Checca was incredibly tasty. They offer a specialty drinks and any kind of wine your heart desires! IL Corso We were searching for a venue for dinner so we walked the El Paseo looking for a suitable venue. We decided to try IL Corso. The atmosphere is very nice both inside and with their outside seating. We were seated indoors as the outdoor seating was already fully booked. We were seated in the bar area. We ordered a bottle of wine. The wine prices are on a bit of the high side. We each had a Insalata Mista. The salads are large and could be easily shared. We also each had the Oso Buco with pasta from the bar menu. Overall, we thought the atmosphere was very good and the meal was satisfactory. read more

absolute WORST service i've ever received in a restaurant. called ahead and made a reservation for 4 at 7PM and indicated we were celebrating a birthday so we were excited for the occasion. 30 mins in - the only thing that had taken place was a drink order 1 hour in - had to order an appetizer from a busser because our server was too busy flirting with the hostess and checking on tables with older patrons for "better tips" (we are 25-27) 1.5 hours in - have only had 1 appetizer and 2 drinks, all not ordered from our server because he was no where to be found after taking our initial drink order 2 hours in - ordered entrees from what we think was the manager, who made no apologies or any semblance of customer service, only asked "has no one come around?" 3 TIMES 2.5 hours in - hours in, food received, ate, had to ask the hostess for the check and suddenly our waiter was really quick to bring the check around. didn't wait around to see if they even remembered birthday accommodations to avoid further disappointment. i'm addition to this - parties who came in 15, 30 mins and even an hour after us got served and even wrapped up their meal before we even ordered entrees. at the end of our meal i kindly let the manager know that we were unfortunately disappointed with our service to which he responded "sorry" ????? if the server with braces in his bottom teeth only is reading this - do better and that hostess definitely isn't gonna let you hit. read more
