Why have all of the food places around here gone so down hill? I used to order from Il Paesano Pizza & Grill weekly (Godwin Boulevard)I have given them about 5 chances of bad food. They used to be great. First 2 photos are from tonight. Last photo is what their stuffed pizza used to be. Was offered a $5 refund on my $60 order unless I bring the pizza in (I got it delivered for a reason) My husband and I share a car- he is not home...so I would have to take a lyft there. The SM did not care and said it was policy. Has anyone else been experiencing this? Someone please give me new pizza recommendations. I am done with them. I was highly disappointed by this restaurant. I use to visit here when they were called Sal's now they have changed their name so I decided to give them a try. Oh my goodness my experience was horrible. Me and my husband ordered 2 orders of wings 6 lemon pepper and 6 Garlic parm. Then for our entree we ordered Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and it came it a side of Caesar salad. Then my Husband ordered the meat lovers Stromboli. My salad came out first and it had a bug crawling all thru it. I gave it back to the waitress. The Garlic Parm wings had no flavor. Then to make matters even worse when the main course came out I open my utensils for the first time (since I definitely did not open them when I saw the bug walking thru the salad) and my fork had food stuck to it all throughout the teeth of the fork like it had not been clean at all. I was so grossed out. The only good thing I can say is My husband did like his Stromboli but it was cold. we just asked the waitress for the tab and left and vowed never to return here again. Save your money and calories and go elsewhere. They changed the name from Sals to il Paesano....emphasis on the il or ewww is more like it. It was mediocre at best when it was Sals and still the same. We thought they might have someone decent making a pizza on a Saturday night. No such luck. Sometimes you might hit the jackpot and get a better one than you would during the week. Nope! Ordered a large cheese and a large White Florentina. Supposed to be garlic on the Florentina. Not a hint of it. Overdone. You always get about 2" at least of crust on all of their pizzas. Bottom crust is always caked with flour. We actually stopped going here for a year or more because it was always disappointing. Sad when frozen pizza is a better option. You do not go here if you want and crave pizza. You go here if you need it immediately and are too lazy to drive to north Suffolk or elsewhere to get it. At least with Papa John's and other similar places you will save yourself some money. You at least know what you are getting there. It would be nice to get your money back ($42 for this and a large cheese) when you are served tasteless junk like this. Heed the warning. read more

Sals has never been my first choice in the area, but I will eat it occasionally as I feel like it is significantly overpriced for the value of the food. Today we ordered Sals for my work lunch. I ordered boneless wings and garlic knots. The boneless wings were just frozen nuggets that had lemon pepper on them, and my garlic knots had a 1.5-2" black hair baked into the garlic knot. I ordered a pizza from Il Paesano for the third and final time! Even though I can walk there. I ordered a hamburger pizza with extra BBQ sauce and extra meat like I have done for years. The pizza was overcooked and dry. I finally called to complain for the first time and was told to bring it back. It's Friday night I was hungry! I asked the manager if I could get a break on the next pizza next time, he said no! I extremly disgudted that the pizza was awful and more pissed that the manager would not make it right! We randomly found this place while exploring Suffolk and stopped in. I'm so glad we did. The salad was crisp, the pizza was amazing. We ordered the mac and cheese for our three year old, fully expecting nothing more than boxed stuff, but what came out was quite frankly the creamiest and most delicious mac I've ever had. Sals has been a notable go to for quite some time now. When they moved to Godwin Blvd for expansion the hope was greater and better. Well the lemon pepper wings are still great, everything else is just ok. The pizza toppings are great but the pizza itself is just blah, blah, blah (Hotel Transylvania's Dracula voice). Yes, the pizza is bland, no flavor. If you are a pizza connoisseur then you would not be happy. If you just want pizza and don't really care, Sals will satisfy the craving. The deserts are made by a third party so don't expect any fresh baked goods here. Don't get me wrong, Sals is good if you are running late on a work evening and want a quick meal. But if you are looking for a party in your mouth, a burst of taste and flavor, seasonings in every bite, keep looking, Sals is not the answer. Sals moved over near Food Lion and we ended up there on their grand opening... it was great! The food was awesome! We had never been and wow. Shocking. For the price you absolutely cannot beat the portions! It was absolutely delicious! Service was friendly and the restaurant was extremely clean. We were in town visiting my sister and needed to feed the kids so we called Sal's and ordered a Monster sized cheese pizza for a mere $19.99 and the bonus was it came with a free small cheese pizza. After hubby picked it up and brought it home the kids consumed all but 3 slices of the monster pizza and all of the small. It was breakfast the next day. The taste was okay but the sauce could have used a bit more seasoning. The crust was a tad bit soggy so don't expect a crunch when you dig in! We added our own spices on top and didn't get the toppings offered because it was an additional $3.50 per topping. The plain cheese did the job. Would I order pizza again? Probably, especially if there are multiple teens involved. Would I try other items on the menu based on the pizza? Probably not but you never know! :) read more

I've always had great experiences with the food I've ordered from Sal's. I generally order pizza and wings for delivery or pickup and it's always delicious, hot, and just as ordered. Their pepperoni and chicken pizza is a personal favorite of mine. For wings, their Parmesan garlic, teriyaki, and buffalo (mild or hot) are great! I have ordered barbecue wings but they were a little too saucy for me. My wife and I ate at the older location near Mason's and thought it was fair. Nothing too special here, a typical small town casual Italian restaurant. The service was quick and the food was decent. I was on my way to NC and originally planned to stop at the Subway that was listed for this exit. Seeing that the Subway was 0.1 miles off the exit, I assumed it would be in this shopping center since it was the first that I saw. It wasn't, however when I saw Sal's I was happy to have the opportunity to try a local place. With a sub on my mind, I was happy to see that there was a lunch special for any 6" hoagie with a side of fries and soda for $7.49. I ordered the turkey. The bread on the sub tasted really fresh- I'm thinking they may have used the same dough that they use for pizza crust because it had that taste- and the tomatoes were nice and juicy. The turkey was ok and they piled the mayo on a little too heavy for my preference. The fries were luke warm and bland; I would've preferred chips given the option. I agree with Rory in that I would have appreciated my server being a bit more cordial. A smile, some dialogue, something. I will say that service was prompt. Uggghhh. Been to Sals when they had a restaurant in North Suffolk. That place was horrible and this place wasn't much better. First, the place is run down, everything was dirty, the décor was dated and it seemed like the whole place was thrown together as an after thought. The male bathroom was dirty and looked barely functional. We were meeting a group here, so there was no turning back. There were multiple sports teams here and kids were running amok. All I wanted to do was get out of there. Ordered one pizza and some water to feed three of us. The bill was moderate and the pizza was CHEESY. Although I love me some cheese, I always feel that it is a lazy way to make a pizza taste good. Just like bacon, cheese makes everything better. For some reason, all of our toppings were clumped into the middle of the pizza, to the point were it might as well been just a plain cheese pizza. The cheese was all over the place. I could barely cut it and strings of it were over a foot long. Very greasy too. So if you like your pizza like this, Sals is the place for you. The waitress was very nice, but it felt like she wanted to be somewhere else, and so did I. Not sure if I will give another Sals location a shot at the title since I think they have used up all of their lifelines with me. Find another place to get your pizza fix in my opinion. read more

I ordered a 24"stuffed pizza online. They called me and told me their price online was incorrect and I needed to pay an additional $4 and some change. I explained that I ordered the pizza they advertised at the price they displayed and they needed to honor that price. She told me "we technically don't make a 24" stuffed pizza so you'll have to pay extra." If they don't make it then why is it available on their website? Unfortunately I won't be ordering any food from here very often because I don't live near them otherwise I would probably order from them at least once a week if not more I tried their pizza and salad yesterday my kids absolutely loved the pizza and the salad was AMAZING!!!! Ok so I decided to check them out after seeing the 2 slice and drink special. My daughter and I go in real nice waitress staff very friendly. After seating and ordering we decide to get the 14" 1 topping pizza special on the menu with says it's $9, I heard the pizza is great so hey why not. The pizza is really good my daughter even said to me mommy this is tasty, get my check it's not for $9 nope I them find out the specials in the menu are only for take out . I did end up getting a discount due to military (huge plus) but I was a tad annoyed when she mentioned that happens a lot because it doesn't say in the menu the special is carry out only. I mean at what point to you make the correction or make sure to alert customers. Sigh this was my first visit so maybe everyone else already knows ‍.
