I remember eating from this place years ago but I couldn't recall if it was very good or not good but in my mind I said it must be very good cuz it's coming to mind. As a result, my husband and I went by here yesterday to pick up two large pizzas for a pizza party we were having for my aunt who's celebrating another birthday. Happy birthday Aunt Donna! Nevertheless, we arrived about 3:30p 3:45p on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. My husband was able to walk in order two pizzas and we were in and out and about 20-25 minutes. We drove another 15 minutes to the house before we began to dive into the pizza. We ordered the thin crust with only pepperoni and oh my gosh it was so good!! Again we attended a pizza party and this was the best pizza hands down out of I think six places people brought pizza from this was the first to go so good so fresh! I love thin crust highly recommend you check out Rita's if you haven't before. The parking no issue at all and you don't necessarily need to call it in either you can just walk up order your pizza and get it in a reasonable amount of time. It's located in a shopping center in Portsmouth so you have other shops that you can browse around well not necessarily shop, but I believe there is a brewery next door but your time will not be wasted while waiting for this goodness! Definitely Mom and Pop vibes. I was looking for a local pizza place and this was the closest. I called in my order and they did sound busy. I was a lot closer than I thought so I waited for my pizza. If you don't want to wait there Momac brewery is next door......just saying. There is no dining, take out only. It is old school for sure.....nothing fancy. Loved it. They got my order done fast and right. I took it home and everyone liked the pizza. It's a thinner crust and I enjoyed the pizza. Perfectly cooked. The Greek Salad was good but I have had better. Very basic with canned olives and iceburg. Good enough. I would order again when I am at my moms and she is wanting a pizza with peppers and onions. Rita's is a take-out only place. There is no dining. It's located in a strip shopping plaza that has seen better days. You have to be buzzed in, which makes me think that this is not the best side of town, but I chose it because I wanted a mom and pop, not a chain. It was a good choice. The pizza was hot, reasonably priced, and tasty and right on time. Service is fine. Definitely nothing to complain about. I'd do Rita's over a chain any day. read more

Had the carry out special 1 topping 8.99 pizza and they allowed 1/2 and 1/2 for topping which was a plus. Pizza was pretty good and service was fast. Garlic knots had minimal garlic and just drenched in oil, subpar. For $15 total I'll take it. read more

Sooo... talk about a harmonious relationship. When you combine this place and the fact that they're next door to MoMac, it's such a win-win. We've started to do this thing where we will bring our dog to MoMac (we're training her to be calmer around people... that puppy energy is crazy), have a beer, and now we can order a pizza from here and they walk it to you. I mean c'mon. This was such a win that we are extremely confident that we'll be back. The pizza was great. The prices were fair. I really have no complaints or issues about this place. It really is a solid pizza place that you can get a good pizza and roll. We didn't get all crazy fancy but the quality was definitely up there. I live close to Rita's and have ordered pizza many times. Initially the pizza was good but there was always some kind of problem. One time the toppings had slid over to one side leaving only sauce and cheese on the other. Clearly the box had been standing on its side. A few times the pie wasn't cut all the way through. Once the slices were not cut at all. I was thankful for my pizza cutter. However, the last few times everything has been perfect. The pizza was ALWAYS good. Even when I had to manually move the toppings to cover the whole pizza. Their delivery system works well. The pizza always arrives earlier than promised and it's always nice and hot. I would rank Rita's at #2 on my list of favorite pizzas in the 757. read more

We love, love, love a good pizza! Truth be told we usually follow a keto/low carb lifestyle but pizza is our weakness and we will not apologize LOL. So if you see us shoveling in a big slice just keep it moving, there's nothing to see here folks. Rita's chicken Alfred pizza is so word every stinking carb! OMG.. we love it! It's so cheesy, garlicky and that crust as an excellent bite. If you know, ya know. Of course they are a pick up and delivery spot so don't plan to sit down and take in the old school pizzeria ambiance but do like we do and pick it up, ask for lots of napkins and find a parking spot out in the big parking lot. We were at MoMac's, and the food truck had just pulled off. We went to get a small pizza from Rita's to share (for 2), and it was SO good. The crust was perfectly fat- just the way I like it, and the pepperonis were nice & crispy- also the way I like those. The other half was for my S.O., and he had green peppers, mushrooms, and something else- now, those looked like they had gotten thrown on in the last second (maybe they forgot to put that on in the beginning- idk). He still liked it, so no complaints from him (although he was drinking a few beers at MoMac's, so we gotta have it again sober- haha!). Their ranch was really good too- I overall loved it, and I can't wait to go back to get pizza again! The only thing I didn't like was the fact that our small pizza was $11.99 after tax- that's really pricy, and seems like a rip. It was so good though, so maybe it was totally worth it. I have been on the hunt for a really good pizza place that also doesn't break the bank, & I have found it with Rita's. I ordered medium pizzas but the worker on the phone suggested a large for $1 more and I said why not?! I ordered a cheese pizza, a veggie pizza, a calzone, breadsticks and potato skins. I'd get all of them again. The calzone is literally the size of a large pizza folded in half, which I wasn't expecting. The pizzas were all delicious. I couldn't try the breadsticks because my kids ate them all, which is a compliment in itself. The pizzas were cooked perfectly and because I feel like it also matters...they were cut perfectly too! We loved the potato skins which come with ranch. I prefer them with sour cream but we dipped our crust in the ranch. The price for everything was beyond reasonable & honestly less than I expected to pay given how much I ordered, and definitely less than I expected to see when I saw the portions and sizes of everything. Absolutely give them a try. And bonus points for me calling at 5:15 on a Friday night during a tropical storm and it being ready in 25 minutes. read more

Leaving three stars because I've been loyal to Rita's since moving to Portsmouth. I order each week on Friday for my family but the past two months have noticed the quality slipping. Today our order was completely wrong. The honey mustard sandwich was dry and the cheesy bread was covered in cardboard parmesan cheese. It was completely different than I am used to. I am feeling like I need to find a new local joint. I do want to say they have the best marinara sauce I've ever had which is about the only consistent thing I can say aside from the friendliest delivery employees ever. read more

Happened to us once and Rita's customer service was beyond reproach, acknowledged the mistake and immediately took care of the issue. One of my favorite places to order for delivery. The Chicken Alfredo Pizza is my favorite. The cheese sticks are really good too. Their dough is nice and soft. When you order for delivery they'll email you the ETA. I usually order from their website, had some issues trying to order through their mobile app. read more

Man...I was seeing all these FIVE star reviews, and counting the minutes until this take out place had our order up and ready! The worker was great, and the place is neat and tidy. The prices were really good (carry out special for a large one topping 7.99), but the NY style pizza just seemed OK. A little overly greasy on top...but just dab with a napkin and your good to go. The cheese to sauce ratio was good....but the flavor was just not there...like I said it was just ok. The crust was good, and don't get me wrong it was a good lookin pizza...and maybe that's what gave me false hope into "greatness" like many before me stated in this place being their "go to place". I am not super hard to please most days....but I do like good pizza, and this place was not bad....but just didn't meet the expectations I had in my mind due to all the hype from the reviews I read. Ok....now to end on a good note though....the Garlic Knots....they were SOOO good....screw the pizza, just buy an order of these bad boys and don't even bother with their marinara dipping sauce that lacks flavor. The Garlic Knots can stand on their own two feet....they don't need no stinkin marinara sauce....all they need is to find a home in your mouth/belly. They are good, REALLY good! So, if I could get one do-over for the day....it would be to place a double order of these garlic knots....my husband and I were eyeing the last one....and being the kind and selfless wife that I can be every now and then....I gave it to him....after all is said and done...he deserves it.....he is one amazing man, husband, and father, and I would do it again in a heartbeat....well maybe :) read more
