The service wasn't good. Waitress never came over to ask if our food was good or if we needed anything. My gnocchi weren't the greatest but my boyfriend's dish was good. He had linguini with seafood. When checking out at the register there was another patron at the register, my boyfriend and then me. I went to walk to the fridge to check some gelato and my bag brushed a bottle of balsamic vinegar on the shelf. It fell off and didn't break open. The bottom chipped. The paper popped though. Instead of writing it off as accidental damage, they charged us $75. In a market it's about 40-50. For a damage they should have charged cost or just resell at a discount. I'd never come back. A bit strange they'd place such valuable products in a small space where they can be accidentally knocked off the shelf by someone walking by. It's so tight in there. read more

This is a terrific place for fresh pasta dishes and I have ordered from them a number of times. That being said sometimes creativity outweighs flavor and taste. For example, I have previously ordered the paccheri with porchetta which was superb. Tonight they decided to add goat cheese and completely ruined the dish. All in all, just be careful what you order, in other words check the adders to the pasta which itself is molto bene, and you should have a nice dinner. read more

I have such a love / hate relationship with this place. Love: it's hands down the best fresh pasta you can buy. We love it so much we get it at least once a week. Their sauces - fantastic. The Nutella Crostata - out of this world! And friendly staff. Hate: the refusal to sell less than ONE POUND of fresh pasta. I thought they'd have walked back this hugely unpopular policy by now but they pre-portion one pound boxes of everything and that's it! Today I tried to buy two containers of sauce, a pound of pasta and a half a pound of ravioli (I'm the only one in the house that eats it and freezing it defeats the point of fresh pasta). Instead of giving them $60 or so, I had to leave with just the crostata and we'll probably order dinner. The saddest part is that we then instead order via Uber Eats and get individual cooked portions and then Uber takes 30%. (As I said, once a week.) But we can't actually pay them directly to buy the stuff in store to make ourselves. Frustrating! So this is a 5 star place in every respect except the 1 star "buy a pound or buy nothing" policy. If they ever went down to a reasonable half pound minimum we'd be buying weekly. read more

But the bigger point is that we were both disappointed with the portion sizes. In particular, the spaghetti and meatballs came with 2 meatballs, one of which was no bigger than a golf ball. Stopped by the shop once before and the staff is quite kind and helpful. We have ordered via uber eats a number of times and food is absolutely amazing. The Amatriciana and Silana are quite good and worth a try. My partner requires gluten free and we've been able to get that option before, but it's not always available on Uber eats, which is unfortunate. At any rate, highly recommend this place. It's really not a restaurant, just a few tables. More of a deli where you purchase fresh pastas and sauces. Reservations are needed as people were turned away. A mother sat on floor coloring with her children waiting for her food since she didn't have reservations and kids were hungry. The food was more than delicious! They have a beautiful selection of pastas to choose from, but it felt awkward trying to chat with my girlfriend and pick just the one we wanted with 2 people staring. So good! Got the tagliatelle ragu and the spinach raviolis with sage and butter sauce and they made it there, hot and fast. Ate it on a bench outside, COVID-style. The ragu is hearty and sumptuous, and the raviolis are sweet and savory, so creamy and delectable. Absolutely delicious! I am very picky with Italian food and have never found a mushroom lasagna that comes close to the one my mom makes. The truffle mushroom lasagna here comes very close! The tagliatelle ragu was also delicious. Pasta perfectly cooked al dente. The Figo gelato and sorbets were the best gelato I've had. Focaccia was interesting-- very doughy-- different than most. Il Pastaficio is a true treat, existing fairly inconspicuously in Cos Cob CT. With just a few tables crammed together in front of the checkout counter, it's ALMOST too crowded, but the atmosphere more than compensates. We ordered the house-made Foccacia Bread ($3.50) and the Proscuitto di Parma a Burrata ($22) to start, which seems to have been pulled right from the basement, where they cut the Proscuitto as well. Both were some of the freshest products we've ever had at an Italian restaurant. The burrata, perfectly creamy and moist upon slicing into it was a perfect accompaniment to the focaccia, which by itself, was actually a TAD oversalted, but it was hard to find fault with. Within moments of finishing, our waitress actually asked us if we were ready for our pasta, and after replying in the affirmative, she walked back to the kitchen to have them fired! My wife ordered the bigoti with a duck ragu ($22) and I, the fusilli with a fresh pesto sauce ($20). Both pastas were perfectly al dente. My wife's duck ragu sauce was the star of the evening, perfectly salted and with the slight gaminess expected from duck, but balanced perfectly with the rest of the seasoning and the pasta itself. My pesto dish was nearly flawless, with my only complaint being that it was in need of a TINY bit of salt. We finished the meal with a tiramisu ($8). Despite being pre-made earlier in the day and stored in a fridge prior to serving, it was one of the tastiest we'd ever had. I just wish it had multiple layers like a traditional execution of this dessert! Overall, we left thoroughly satisfied and would happily return. read more

Il Pastaficio seems like the ultimate crap shoot. The things that are good are excellent and the things that are not are terrible. I've ordered from here probably 5-6 times now and eaten in and it's always a 50/50 on whether a dish is good or bad. For the stars the filled pastas are consistently excellent, pesto is great, the amatriciana is delicious (tad salty), and the taglietelle al ragu is decent. The bigoli with rabbit ragu is flavorless and the lasagna is AWFUL, completely mushy and lacking any discernable flavors and that had the benefit of being eaten in restaurant. read more

It reminded me of the food I eat when I travel to Italy. The pasta was perfectly cooked, al dente, and delicious. The sauce was balanced, not too salty, not too heavy, just the correct amount. Other people in my house tried it too & agreed - one was very sneaky and took some off my plate while my back was turned.... it really was that good. From the forks to the dishes, it's all centered on maximizing your experience. It's also an unbelievably clean space. Authenticity is the main takeaway. The first thing that occurred was, I chose the pesto sauce to go with our pasta and the owner ridiculed us for our choice. Wtf? He said that is so run of the mill, or something like that. What does he even care? And maybe we - and my kids - LIKE PESTO and were in the mood for some? Lastly if you're going to verbally judge a customer for their choice of food, then don't offer what you (strangely) think is such an inadequate choice. I'll also say that the prices here are laughably sky high. Pastaficio is like that cliche about the little girl: when things are good here, they are very good indeed. When they're bad, they're very bad. What's excellent? The ravioli is made with the most delicate and tasteful dough I've ever had; and the fillings are (almost) always perfect. Try the truffle & ricotta, the spinach & ricotta, and the wonderful lemon & ricotta. All are excellent. (Cook each for only 2 minutes, not the 3 they recommend; and keep the boil low or they will fall apart.) What else is good? The truffle sauce (in a jar on the shelf) is perfect, though pricey at $55. Pair it with the truffle ravioli and be prepared for a 5 star dinner. What's bad here? I bought 2 pounds of lobster & potato ravioli for Christmas dinner at $35/pound. (An odd pairing I thought, but I figured that they knew what they're doing, right?) So bad I threw them out--all $70 worth into the trash. The lobster was old and had a fishy taste; and I'm a pescatarian and I know my lobster. The Tagliatelle here never cooks past al dente, no matter how long you boil it. I've had much better dried pasta---many, many, many times. I just bought two slices of an almond based desert that was hard as a rock and inedible. That, too, went into the trash. So, it's a bit of buying and learning here. However, the mistakes are hard to swallow and a waste of money. Caveat emptor. read more

When we got home and opened the containers we found that the beef dish had only one small piece of beef with lots of onions. It was very tasty, but where is the "beef" in the beef ragu? The daily special was also tasty, but it too was ridiculously small with literally one piece of shrimp that was cut up in the pasta. I called immediately to express my disappointment, but the owner didn't care; he didn't even say comeback in, or even express anything like "I'm sorry". This is the gold standard Italian pasta shop that I'll compare most Italian places to. Pasta is made in house and most ingredients including vegetables are flown in from Italy. It's small with only a few tables, and it may get crowded during certain times of day but it's all worth it. Try whatever special is on. Chef's from Parma, everybody who works in the store is real Italian. If you manage to convince them to make fettuccini Alfredo, go for it :-) otherwise they have freshly made pasta on display and match with their available sauces. read more

Met another couple here and sat a small communal table. The menu is small and has a handful of different options for all different kinds of people. I had the pesto fusili which was really good. Others at the table had the gnocchi and the ravioli Bolognese. Everyone loves their meal and the staff was super friendly and quick.
