Crew left didn't say a word had no idea there was a problem until I turned on the kitchen sink. I had to go purchase the cap and cut the line to fix. Day 3: They broke the Refrigerators water line and it leaked out onto the floor or I would of never known. Then, I had to buy a new waterline for my fridge and replace it and of course the new line was larger. Day 5 and beyond: They came to fix stuff but never finished the job. I finished the work they left undone including buying elbows, piping and other parts and pieces. They never paid me for my labor or a single part or piece I had to purchase to fix their mistakes. The best thing was Easter when the sun came out and my family went outside and found all the cigarette butts in the grass and the mulch. On two completely different incidents Carl and Son was sent out by a home warranty company to…read morerepair issues at my daughter and son in laws new home that were not disclosed by the former owner or found by the home inspector that they hired before close on the property. On both occasions Carl and Son got the work done promptly and correctly. The two gentlemen who did the work were professional and courteous. The first incident was a natural gas leak that had to be handled as an emergency. The home warranty company first dispatched a different plumbing service from Chicago. I could write volumes on this initial plumbers incompetence however I will get to the point. When the first plumber left Nipsco still detected a severe natural gas leak. This leak point was clearly marked before this plumber started. I refused to have this same service back and it took a lot of arguing and a threat of law suite but finally the home warranty company agreed to dispatch a different plumber. This was Carl and Son and the experience was like night and day. This leak was repaired and after the entire system was pressure tested another valve showed slight leakage. This was also repaired. Nipsco commented the repair was excellent and was able to immediately turn the gas back on. I would recommend Carl and Son to anybody in the "Region". People tend to dwell on the negatives but rarely take the time to pass along the positives. Carl and Son did the job correctly on both jobs. I would hire them again in a second. On the positive side, he informed me that my roof had sustained hail damage and that I should contact my insurance company. With that knowledge, I contacted my insurance agent and reported the damages. In the end, I received an insurance claim to cover the damages. The problem I have with Sanchez Roofing is that they would not give me an estimate of the repairs until they saw the insurance claim coverage. While I certainly am not looking to profit off of the insurance claim, I do not want to pay more than I should. I reluctantly provided the full insurance claim report and wouldn't you know it; their estimate was exactly the same as the insurance claim. Here's the caveat. Since my actual loss was last year (but unbeknownst to me), my insurance company withheld what they call depreciation. This was a significant amount totally approximately 15% of the overall claim. So the check I received was 15% less than the damages. Sanchez Roofing estimate was for the full amount of the insurance claim before the depreciation. Bottom line, my new roof would have cost me $2,500 more than the insurance company was providing. But wait, there's more! Like any shrewd homeowner, I contacted multiple companies when contemplating a major home renovation. Two companies were spot on with the insurance claim amount (after the depreciation amount had been deducted). The interesting thing is that one of them was aware our roof was an insurance claim and the other was under the assumption this was an out of pocket expense. Regardless, both (highly rated) companies were cheaper than Sanchez Roofing. One of them - $2500 and the other more than $3500. I understand each company has different overhead costs and thus estimates can vary significantly. If their quote had been provided before the insurance claim report and was higher I would NOT have had a problem with them being significantly higher and might have even chosen them based upon their reviews. However, their reluctance to provide a timely (before insurance) and competitive bid places them at the bottom.
