Wait until they discover their two-stage furnace was never installed correctly and that it's been running on single stage for years. This was a serious oversight. If a two-stage furnace was wired or set up incorrectly and only ever ran in single-stage mode, the homeowner probably missed out on: Comfort benefits - two-stage furnaces are designed to run on low most of the time, giving more even heating and fewer temperature swings. Efficiency - the furnace likely used more gas and electricity than necessary. Longevity - constant high-stage operation puts more wear on components than normal two-stage cycling. It would worth having a qualified HVAC tech inspect the wiring, thermostat settings, and control board configuration. read more

I contacted Illiana on a single digit Saturday afternoon in December because my furnace went out while I was out for the day Technician came out and told me he wasn't going to look at the thermostat because that's hardly ever the issue But he found no issues as to why my furnace went out. He did try very hard to find things that weren't perfect with the furnace. There were surprisingly about 4 different issues and he told me he'll have the sales team contact me on Monday to sell me a whole new furnace because mine was just "so bad". He left, no problems that he 'detected' were reparable, he couldn't jump start the unit. The toddler and I were told to wait until normal business hrs to talk to someone to order any new pieces etc I still didn't know what was wrong with mine. Got someone out the next day from a different company to find what the problem was, 10 minutes and they found it was a bad thermostat, and he jumped it so I could have heat while I buy a $30 new unit. Would be a zero if i could. Illiana heating and air came out and "fixed " my air conditioning air handler unit. Left the cover off, which I think is against the law. Only put one screw in the part. Not even level. This part is less than $20 and they charged hundreds. The tech had to be on the phone with his supervisor half the time he was there. Never call them again. read more

Illiana came to fix our 2nd floor A/C unit that was leaking. The tech, Jim, said he there was a blockage in the drain line and that he would get it cleared by blowing it out. He blew it out---ALL OVER OUR MASTER BATHROOM!!! It was a complete eruption of the sink drain! Smelly, black, grimmy, and grotesque slime coated our custom walnut vanity cabinets, granite countertops, tile floor, walls, ceiling, mirrors, light fixtures, doors, clothes, cologne/perfume bottles, makeup, and my $5000 hearing aids and charger were submerged in sludge. RUINED. I immediately sent photos and video to their office and explained the situation to one of the girls that took my call. I then asked Jim what he was going to do and he said that there was nothing he can do about it, but someone would call me tomorrow. He then told me to have a good night and he left. As he walked away, I asked if he was just going to leave this mess for my wife and I to deal with and he said it wasn't his fault, and nothing he could do about it. He got in his truck and drove away. I called the office and Mary (general manager) said that she was aware of the situation and had spoken to the owner, but there wasn't anything else they could do about it. I asked if a cleaning crew was on the way to handle the mess Jim caused, and she said that she hadn't been advised to do anything about the situation. I asked to speak to the owner, but she said that wasn't possible. She said there wasn't anything else they could do, but she would try an have someone call me tomorrow. I asked her what we were supposed to do with the disaster left by the exploded sink drain, and she said that she didn't understand what I wanted done, but it was too late in the day for them to do anything. It was about 4pm CDT. We ended the call. I called Americlean and they showed up in under an hour to clean and sanitize the bathroom. $558.31 for the three-hour cleaning, $600 worth of makeup and perfume in the trash, $5000 hearing aids ruined, and several other minor incidental damages. Illiana never called us. Worst customer service imaginable. Unspeakable way to be treated. My wife and I are frustrated beyond description. Had it not been for the hearing aids, we likely would have just accepted it, but because of the lack of response, lack of accountability, and cost of the damages they caused we are pursuing legal action against Illiana. A couple weeks ago I had Dan from Illiana heating and air conditioning out. I wanted to be proactive because my furnace and air conditioner was about 20 years old. I went with a new 95% efficient furnace and a compressor for my air conditioning. The installers came out and put it in in one day, everything looks great , we had a little problem with an off-color diffuser but I spoke with Dan and he worked to find the right one. once he found it he sent his guy out take care of it right away everything looks good and works good I definitely would use Illiana heating and air conditioning again. read more

Called them for an estimate for new A C and furnace. Told them upfront I was getting estimates from several companies and would not make decision until I got them all. The "comfort consultant" was so pushy and tried his best to get me to make a decision right then and there. He spent more time bad mouthing the competitor's product than telling me why I should buy his. Bad business. Needless to say, I chose another company, and I am more than pleased with the installation process from them. Besides, the other company installed a superior product for about $1200. less. I have used Iliana a couple of times, once for no heat and once for cooling. The no cooling issue was resolved by changing out a capacitor. It was fairly quick and the technician was friendly. The cost of the capacitor was a little high but we had cooling so no biggie. How do I know the price was high? I have been working in retail facilities management for the past seven years. I manage contractors and deal with maintenance for a living. The heat call was after hours on a Friday. The tech showed up once my wife was home from work. She then calls me and tells me that the tech can fix but it was going to be $750 because OT. I thought this was extremely high for a residential heat call so I asked to speak with the tech. He said we needed a new gas valve. I asked how long would it take to put in and he said probably less than an hour. So my FM brain kicks in, 2 hrs OT labor @ $150/hr means $450 for a gas valve? I asked why the gas valve was so much. He said because this is after hours. Now, applying OT rates for parts is unheard of in the industry. I didn't feel like arguing with him since it was 20 degrees out so I told him to proceed. He replaced the gas valve and everything was up and running, but I just couldn't get over the $750 ticket. I looked up the gas valve online and found it for $90. Not happy. On Monday I called and spoke with the service manager, Kevin. I let him know that charging $450 for a $90 gas valve was ridiculous. He then gave me the same line of charging OT rates for parts. I told him that I work and in facilities management and this was not a thing. He then said that since I work in facilities I should know that companies have to mark up parts. Yes Kevin I understand this, but the highest markup I have ever seen on parts is 21% and that's commercially. This was a 500% markup for residential! He heard my frustration and agreed to refund a small portion of the bill but it really wasn't enough. This should have been a $400 ticket at most. Also didn't appreciate the condescension. Suffice it to say, I would never use Illiana again. The service is decent but the pricing is very unreasonable. Reach out to me of you want contractors who provide good service and fair pricing for HVAC work. read more

Michael came out to the property and told us the compressor was shot and we needed to replace the AC. He looked all through the house, gave us a ballpark estimate, and said he'd send an official quote via email. That was 10 days ago. We've called the main line several times, spoke with several receptionists (Michael is always out onsite - never taken our call) asking for our quote. They've never been able to send it. We've provided multiple email addresses - nothing. I can't say I've ever been ghosted by a company I'm looking to pay $5k to for a new AC. Entire experience has been a bizzaro waste of time. We're looking elsewhere...and you should too. read more

We heard a loud noise coming from the furnace two mornings ago and the house smelled like a burnt motor, so we turned the heat off (It was 16 below zero outside). After calling a technician responded promptly within 3 hours. We thought the blower motor went bad...well it did...and there were cracks in the heat exchanger and condenser. Oh no! Within 20 minutes Dan was at the house discussing options for a new furnace. Two days later, after Kevin did a fantastic installation the house is warm again. They arrived promptly at 8AM, took about 3 hours for the install. The technicians were extremely clean and neat. They wore tyvek booties inside the house at all times, and put dropcloths down on the carpeted areas of the house. Thanks for being so prompt and dealing with everything quickly and professionally. We had Tyler come out and do a tune up for $69. He found a crack in the heat exchanger and told us the cost of the tune up was now $89. We asked why he said because it was for the diagnosis. That felt like a bait and switch. I called in and they said Kylie reluctantly said they wouldn't charge it. The part is under warranty by the manufacturer. Beware their labor charge is $300 more than the local competition to install a "free" part. The lack of stars is due to the attitude of the office staff, the lack of follow through by the office ( said they would call back with a labor quote and did not) and the bait and switch tactic. read more

I would not recommend this company to anyone. They installed a furnace and ac units in September 2019. Dan, Head of sales, was in a rush to install. The crew installed the downflow kit incorrectly and that led to a flooded crawl space and damaged several items stored there including the insulation around my ductwork. Took them several times to diagnose and solve the issue. Additionally, they failed to caulk around the pipe coming out of the ac going into the house, leaving it open to rodents. I ended up getting mice in my home and had to hire a professional to eradicate the problem. Once the area was properly caulked my mice problem vanished. I tried to rectify the problem with dan but he refused to return my phone calls. The damage amounted to about $1000, 1/7 of the amount I paid in full once the install was completed. The two units equated to $7000. I'm completely disappointed in the Christian run company. Don't trust them, they are quick to make a sale but won't admit fault and compensate for the damage they caused. Thumbs down! read more

We purchased our home in January. The furnace was only 2 years old. We called Illiana Heating since they are the ones who put it in and it was still in warranty. They would not grant the the manufacters warranty since the previous owner no longer lived there. We called another heating co and they were more than happy to grant the manufacturers warranty. I still don't understand why you do the work and give out a warranty and then refuse to grant it when something goes wrong. read more

I recently posted something on Nextdoor looking for recommendations on the installation of a humidifier. We called a few places and decided to go with Illiana, mostly because the prices were all about the same and there was a $50.00 coupon in a flyer. So yesterday afternoon, mind you not even 24 hours later and there is a new coupon in this morning's Times for $100.00. So my husband called to complain about that. But the manager said SORRY can't give credit on work already done. I think that is bad business and for that I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

Iliana Heating and Cooling called me this afternoon to see when I wanted a new furnace and how I was going to pay for it, The waited 4 days knowing their repairs would not fix the furnace and hoping 4 days without heat would propel me to buy a new furnace from them, Nice try. My furnace is working just fine thanks to Pitner Heating and Cooling.. Don't need a furnace. Mine is 7 years old. Please think 3 times before even calling them. They said my duct work was part of the problem. Not true. My furnace and central air was installed correctly. Kevin also told me my condensate pump was broken and it would cost $800.00 and that he would have to go to Carrier to get it. Lie. It is a standard $60.00 part at Home Depot and Lowes. I did have a broken fan wheel on the inducer. My service call from a reputable company cost me $200.00 in parts and labor to get my furnace up and running correctly. The heat exchanger was "scorched". No it showed signs of being in contact with flame. It worked just fine. I called them back the very same evening because the furnace was not working again. I wanted Tony to check out the thermostat because I knew something was wrong. It is a programmable one and it was not going through the 5 day cycle. So it told the furnace there was no need for heat. Tony said I should learn to program it, charged me a service call and left. He was wrong the computerized thermostat had malfunctioned and needed replacement. Never, ever calling them again and will not recommend them to anyone ever. I want the fees for my service calls returned! read more
