This is a pretty nice burger and beer joint on State Street in Lemont. When you come in you are greeted with a long bar facing west and fronting a number of high-top tables. Adjacent to the barroom is a larger dining room that can also be rented for parties. Ambiance is nice but this is basically a pub, and there is not a lot of provision for the younger set. Food was good pub grub. Nice hamburgers and fries, and they cook up a pretty good pizza too. As you might imagine, the beer is plentiful and fairly priced. This is a nice stop for a meal after Saturday Masss at the surrounding churches. read more

We got mozzarella sticks and onion rings that I didn't get a picture of but this place is worth checking out in lemont. It was a weekday so not as busy evening. Service was great read more

My bf and I came here on Saturday mid-afternoon for a drink or two while we were going into Downtown Lemont for food. We went inside and there were a few people; not a lot so we decided to sit at the bar. We sat there for about 10 minutes--we didn't noticed it was 10 minutes went by since we were talking but no one came by to greet us or take our drink orders. I saw someone counting money from the drawer but she didn't bother to check periodically to see anyone new came in. We decided to leave. read more

Holy cow, the most useless bartender I have met in decades. Complaining about doing her job, washing glasses and breaking my $50 bill. She does not like beer and sees no reason to learn about the items she sells for a living. Too focused on going out for a smoke to care about her guests. An unpleasant person! read more

The food is really good! We enjoyed everything we ate. However the service was lacking. We asked our waitress about drink specials and she said they were basically a beer and shot establishment. However we noticed when we left they had a sign that said margaritas were a special Monday-Friday. She seemed very frazzled, so I don't know if she was new or had never waited on a large group. Eventually it seemed another very nice woman came to help her. However when we were done eating our food Oliva brought the bill and then proceeded to come back 3 times and see if we were ready to pay it. We were still drinking our drinks. By the 3rd time, she told us we could just bring it up to the bar when we were ready. Again maybe she is new or her shift was ending but it felt rude, like we were holding her up. Not like the city location *super sad face* . I've always wanted to try this location because of course it's close by. NO BUENO my burger wasn't fresh, bacon either. Then I ask for mustard only, this chick puts ketchup on my burger. 2 stars are for the facility being decent and they fake tried 2 be pleasant. Then I ordered a drink which they struggled making. Stopped in for the first time on Feb 17 very nice place with 2 outdoor patios the inside is great , the bartender Linda gave us menus and asked us if this was our first time here I said yes and she suggested some food items well let me tell you the Burger was huge and very tasty and the chicken wings where huge and out of this world. Service was good, no complaints there. Had a Chicago burger, that was good and tasty as well. Took some time to come out, but I wasn't in any hurry so that is not a factor. The basket of "fresh handcut fries" were brown, greasy and mushy and were tiny bits and chunks. Nothing that resembles a decent french fry. First time here. We were going to have appetizers and a sandwich. Ordered mozzarella cheese sticks and jalapeño poppers they came out super fast but the quality reminded me of something I could get at a carnival food wagon especially the cardboard trays we got to use for plates. Based on the appetizers we decided not to gamble on the rest of the menu. Went down the street to Heroes west and had a tasty meal. Oh well as they say live and learn. read more

Terrible tonight, servers bickering, service to the 3 occupied tables in the dinning room was nonexistent. People were furious and frustrated that the servers did not pay attention to the customers. One visit in an hour. The cook finally served our table after the order was taken wrong by server. I think the cook was trying but he had Zero quality help. An older male was behind the counter with a beer seem lost and frustrated. I try to be very tolerant and understanding, but this was over the limit. Bar rescue couldn't help this place. As a south sider I have spent many days and night I the original Illinois Bar and Grill on 47th in Chicago. When I found that they opened this new location by my new house I could not wait to go! The Lemont location for Illinois Bar and Grill is really hit or miss. For burgers it's 4 stars as long and the cook can get the burger to you the way you asked it to be cooked. Sometimes a medium rare burger comes out well done and beyond. The burgers and fries can really be awesome, and the portion size is generous, great flavor, and can fill anybody. The inconsistencies are not the burgers, fries, or rings, but quality of other items. The menu is limited, so the other sandwiches should be as great as the burgers. I think they would be consistently much busier. Maybe it's time to change some menu items. Take off the some of the other sandwiches and add some new ones. Maybe a well executed house made crispy chicken, ribs, or flatbreads.... With a few menu adjustments, and consistency in the kitchen they would be a local area destination spot. I think the patio and outdoor fireplace would keep the place near being packed from Summer through Fall. Definitely worth going in for the burgers, fries, onion rings and drinks. I was out in Lockport and looking for a bar that was open on Thanksgiving night and this was the closest one I could find lol It was actually a pretty nice bar, they had a good amount of beers on tap, the inside looked nice with decorations and TVs, the bartender was nice, for food I just had some mozzarella sticks, which were way better than expected, the guy next to me had this huge burger that looked amazing, but just coming from Thanksgiving I don't think I could handle something that big lol Typical bar video games throughout. Great spot for outdoor seating in nice weather. Seems to have a lot of room as I did not explore much. They have recently reopened for service during the COVID shutdown. The server was pretty attentive. You go for the burger. It's enormous and delicious. Their top burger comes with grilled onions and your choose of cheese. This is not my go to regularly but here I really enjoyed it. An extra bonus are the wings. They are gigantic. They are fried without breading and nicely seasoned. You can add your buffalo sauce or dip it. I guess the theme is big food but what we've had has also been really good. We will come back for both. read more

We tried this restaurant, because the Chicago Tribune had the Baby Burger as one of the best burgers in Chicagoland. The critic was absolutely correct. Everything we ordered was delicious. I had a slice of my wife's quisidilla, and it was great. We also had jalapeño poppers and fried cheese curds. They were very good, and the two appetizers were plenty for a party of five to share. Our server was very attentive. My wife was uncertain about a beer to try, so the server brought a sample. My wife and I are trying to find some new restaurants to add to our rotation. Let me start at the very end of my third Illinois Bar & Grill experience. When we finished our breakfast and proceeded to drive home, our clothes added a distinct smell of grease to the fine Corinthian Leather Seats in our car. This place is known for poor service and I can attest to that. The menu even has a disclaimer to report less than stellar service! Talk about a RED flag! My sweetie pie and I arrived early on a Sunday Morning to test the ham and eggs and the corned beef hash. Our breakfast plates arrived separately several minutes apart! The hash was spot-on canned Hormel or the best copy-cat recipe you can imagine! The thinly sliced Home Fries (onions optional) were spot-on boxed Betty Crocker freeze dried replicas, you know, the kind that expand in water...or in this case, grease! This is a nice building. Wow! Illinois Bar and Grill is steppin up! After having visited their "neighborhood location on 47th street- I certainly wasn't expecting this place to be so "fancy". I mean- granite bar, outdoor patio with fireplace, soaring ceilings, those sliding "garage doors" that open up to let the outside in . . .these are all things of a gastro pub . . .not the image I conjour up when someone says, "Let's go to Illinois Bar!". This location was suggested to me as I was meeting someone who lives out this way and Lemont is off of my "beaten track" so I had no idea where to go. Easy to find (right on State Street), Illinois Bar and Grill has plenty of free parking and the vista as you approach it is sort of "small town" tranquility with the church steeples dotting the landscape. While I sat and the bar and waited for my friend, I struck up a conversation with the manager who gave me a little history of the place (they took over a liquor store/bar and built it out) and it's the third location (the original 47th street location, Midway airport and this) The menu is limited (same at all locations) and your best bet is the Chicago burger- a giant burger topped with grilled onions, ketchup, mustard and pickles- so big that you can't pick it up to eat it. Got a smaller appetite? The "baby" version of the same sandwich is available. They also have a variety of other sandwiches as well as a Polish on the menu. The hand cut fries were a little over cooked for me so we did nothing but pick at them. I've had them at their other location and they were much better. They also have a breakfast menu but if you want- you can still get a burger for breakfast. The only challenge we had was the service early on. The place was not full- there seemed to be plenty of people behind the bar- but getting a beer was a little hard at the beginning of the night. As the evening wore on, however, the new bartender seemed more on his "game" and our beers were barely empty before a new one was set down. Prices are cheap . . a burger was about $5, the beers were $3. And as a side note- I loved that the women's bathroom was CLEAN (often a rarity!) While Lemont is not on my normal "route", I now at least know a place where I can go and meet up with my friends who live in the southwest burbs and enjoy ourselves in comfort. Now I just need to go back on a night when I can enjoy that fireplace out on the patio . . .it's got my name written all over it! read more

I'll Give this place 4stars, this place was really good! I ordered the bacon burger as did 2 others in my party and we were impressed. The price was right the size was right and to top it off the burger was cooked to perfection and might I add it was juicy and full of flavor!!! Wow! It was on the larger size as far as burgers go. I couldn't eat it all. Same with the other 2 in my party. I came with an empty stomach but couldn't finish it. I also ordered fries which is enough for 2 adults and if it were kids 3. The bacon was that nice thick & juicy bacon that just took the burger to the next level. Everything on the burger was fresh and crisp. I was told that there are a couple of different cooks and the night we were there the main cook was there. I was also told by the other 2 in my party who visit I-B&G often that the other cooks aren't as good. That's the only reason for the 4 start rating . I use to work at the One on 47th St. in Chicago been there a few times since I've worked there and it's gone down this is the first time I was at this location and the burgers got a lot smaller and they had no taste to the meat and the onions weren't caramelized and barely cooked. First time I have been here and the food was great,service was good and our server/bartender Amy was exceptional. I got the Maxwell Street Polish. Its huge and is very good. One suggestion is use a hardier bun. My wife had a Ruben and she said it was fantastic. I will be coming back. I have been to the Illinois Bar & grill on 47th street in Chicago. Very cool looking bar..love that it has so many windows..side patio is great for hanging with friends and playing bags and the other side patio off the party room is just nice to step outside..we live in Lemont and one of our favorite places to stop..prices are good and the food is really great bar food..nothing fancy but plenty of it..snd if its not too busy they might even cook you up something a little more customized..friendly bartenders altho they can fall behind sometimes but give em a break..they are doin it all....bartending , serving, cleaning, sometimes even cooking!! But all in all id say its a thumbs up for sure! read more

I've been here about 6 times. Half for breakfast, half for dinner. I can definitively say the breakfast is better and more consistent in quality. The service is what keeps me from coming back for more. I've never been here when it's busy, but have never had a server that seemed to even pretend to care. They're slow to acknowledge your presence when you sit down, drinks take too long to arrive, orders come out wrong. Forget about getting a refill on a soft drink. I've never had anyone offer. I just walk up to the bartender when I'm thirsty. The last experience I had was when the restaurant was nearly empty. We sat for nearly 10 minutes at the table NEXT TO THE BAR without anyone coming to take our order. Drinks (all soft drinks) took nearly another 10 minutes to arrive, in visibly filthy glasses mind you. I order the burger with no mustard and no pickle. The three sandwiches took nearly a half hour to show up cold and wrong. She puts a jr burger with what seemed like extra mustard and pickles in front of me. I was pissed, but hungry so I ate it. I had already been there an hour. I didn't want to wait another 30min for a freaking cheeseburger that would likely come out cold and wrong again. The food is really really good when it's done right and that's why I give it 3 stars. I think maybe next time I'll belly up to the bar and try my luck sitting in front of the bartender.
