im moment kaffee opens where College Point Cafe et al. was before. Interior expanded to another room, decor austere. A few pics, plants. Vanilla, light green colored walls. Offerings: breakfast bagels, breakfast, salads, sandwiches, lunch, dinner, drinks, kaffee, Eritrean fare. Quick service at counter, pd. Food/brew made to order. 10ish minutes.... Sips: drip kaffee (3.25) Hawaiian blend -made to order, smooth, bold taste. Easy sipping. Bites : Eritrean vegan lunch combo (13.50) -similar, exactly like Ethiopia eats. -everything tasted freshly made, not reheated -lots of fresh injera to soak up juices, tastes great by itself also. -yellow lentils slowed cooked with tumeric, onions, garlic. Slightly spicy. -shiro: split green peas flavored with Eritrean spices.. -mushrooms tibs: sauteed mushrooms, onions, red bell peppers, marinated with Eritrean spices. Semi-spicy. -imk special salad: tasty with white textured ?, tomatos, onions. 5 stars fresh eats. Lotsa Eritrean eats never seen before...

The energy in this cafe is so lovely and energetic. The staff have such a kind soul to them and it was very refreshing for being a gloomy day out. Highly recommend their matcha drinks especially the Banana matcha and their Mango Matcha!

I've had this place saved for a while now and wish I had come sooner. The spot was cozy, friendly and warm. I tried the banana latte and it was creamy, not too sweet but so yummy! For food we had the chicken wrap and tuna & egg melt. Both were delicious! The spices were not too spicy for us and they enhanced the flavor so much! I could've drank a bottle of the aioli. Will be back soon.

Service - 5/5, Semy is the sweetest Ambiance - 5/5 Food - 5/5 A unique cafe with a mix of habesha and German dishes. Aschi special -- Had it on an everything bagel I love boiled eggs and salmon so this was perfect for me. Avocado Brots -- Nice German bread topped with avo, arugula and balsamic vinegar All around a great cafe with strong culture.

Almond croissant which is now in my tummy

OMG! I've hesitated because this place is a gem that I selfishly wanted to myself but that's not right. The almond croissants are AMAZING!! Since I live like 8 miles away I can't get there early enough to grab at least one. The owner graciously made me two that I picked up warm at 11:30. While waiting I had a cup of black coffee which was also delicious. I've had the bagel with lox and the works yum. The cafe is very clean and a very soothing atmosphere.

This place remains one of my favorite cafes in the Bay Area, and one of my all time favorite places for breakfast and lunch in Oakland. Everything here is incredibly delicious: from the Eritrean foods, coffees and teas, to the matcha drinks, pastry, Basque style cheesecake and German-style sandwiches. The atmosphere is cozy and artsy. And the owners and folks working here are all incredibly sweet and talented. Well worth the walk from the Rockridge BART station past the other cafes!

the beef alicha....sink in your teeth tender and flavorful beef. yummmmmeee

I'm moment Kaffee is now serving dinner on some weekends. Check their IG before heading out. Dinner and wine pairing- we decided to try it all (the beef alicha, chicken ribs and vegan combo) and it made my taste buds sing praises. The meats were tender and fresh, the spices marry well with all the ingredients. If you love Eritrean food or never had it then this is the spot for you. The owner was so kind to modify one/two dishes for our vegan gluten-free companion and it did not disappoint. I loved it as well. The menu is seasonal so come with an empty stomach and an open mind. speaking of open minds- peeped that recent 1-star review- I mean it's dinner time; would you go to a restaurant and demand Wifi? entitled much? there's a certain ambiance and decorum that I believe is specific to day/evening dining. As for the owner, she's a total gem, a neighborhood revivalist- there's never a time when she was not anything but nice and welcoming, busy yes but never ever rude. I mean - looking at all the reviews, from credible Elite yelpers- it's unanimous it's a 5-star spot highlighting the welcoming -"sweet", "kind" "personable" service.

What a great find, this multicultural German / Ethiopian / Eritrean coffee shop almost flew under my radar, but luckily I gave the place a try. I have no regrets. They have an excellent selection of coffees, a good array of pastries, German "brot" toasts, Ethiopian Habesha chicken all with a touch of Eritrean spices. The charming owner has a fascinating background drawing from all three of the above cultures. When you visit the shop, it will be a treat to make her acquaintance and learn about her heritage. I enjoyed a latte which had a distinctive coffee flavor as you would expect from Ethiopian beans, where coffee was first originated. The pretzel sandwiches are to die for, a mix of fresh cucumbers and tomatoes along with an accompaniment of your choice, I chose a simple cheese, enclosed in a delicious pretzel bun soft and doughy to the taste. The location on College Ave. was very welcoming with plenty of seating and a subdued selection of music playing. They have an upper loft-like area and a lower table based seating area next to the Barista's area. There is also seating outside on the sidewalk, and the loft area has a bar-like seating looking out onto the street where you can watch the people walk by. The service was very nice, partially by the owner and later by a dedicated barista.

I am in love with this place! I actually found them on DoorDash and had to come on here to write a review because places like these are GEMS. Fresh, bright ingredients with high quality and affordable prices. That is a rarity in this day & age. Can't wait to try more of the menu. They were kind enough to add tuna at no charge due to the ongoing egg shortage + leave a sweet note with my order. Their chickpea brot was so good too!

Dani A.

I believe that if an establishment can't make something of the most basic quality, it shouldn't be on the menu. We came here based on positive reviews but this was truly a disappointing experience. Their matcha latte was genuinely the worst I've ever had. It tasted like a cup of warm whole milk with green food coloring--there was no discernible matcha flavor at all. It was so awful that I couldn't even finish the small cup. In an attempt not to waste it, I added cereal to it, hoping the cereal's flavor would improve the taste. Unfortunately, even the cereal couldn't save this abomination of a drink. This experience was so disappointing that it prompted me to start making matcha lattes at home, and anything I make is far better than what I had here. If you can't even make a basic matcha latte, it shouldn't be on the menu. Service was also not great or welcoming. I walked up to the counter, looked around for the menu and the lady just pointed to the menu by the door without saying a word. I won't be returning here again. TL;DR to customers: avoid the matcha latte and to the establishment: please take the matcha latte off the menu!

A**hole coffee shop with attitude!
Atiq R.

Person/owner who took the order is real b**tch. Wouldn't let customers sit with laptops indoor/ outdoor! Literally kicked us out after giving the coffee; didn't share WiFi password. Owner of the business used scathing language on us, threatened us to remove the Yelp review as well. Needed to get something important done on my notebook. Couldn't get it done! Left utterly disappointed and frustrated. Felt like we weren't fairly treated as customers!

Right off, I will rarely have anything bad to say about a coffee shop that opens at 7AM and has prosecco, wine and beer on the menu. We could have just come in from an overseas flight and for us it's 9PM. Great spot with indoor seating and outdoor seating along sidewalk. If sitting outside the College side is sunnier in the morning and louder. The Hudson side is quieter and less sunny. Also, there is a parklet on Hudson side. Lots of coffee options eventhough I just take it black. Lots of food options also. I had a bacon, egg and cheese sando on sour dough. No carbo Monday starts on..... Monday. I was here for almost 4 hours on my computer and phone and it was not an issue. There were other people here when I came in and still there when I left. I could spend most of my day working here. The interior makes one feel that you are in a high end cafe with its beautiful decor. Some many items to choose from, the person taking my order was very helpful in explaining the different kinds of drinks and pastries. Ordered the Ginger Honey Jobani as a hot drink, Biscoff Milkcake, Honeycomb, and a Beef Fatayer. There were several kinds of milkcakes which would have the texture like a tres leches cake. The Honeycomb had pockets of cream cheese and was drizzles with honey. The Meat Fatayer is like an empanada. The food and drink were very tasty. They have plenty of seating, and one of the biggest advantages is their excellent Wi-Fi speed, which makes it a reliable spot for remote work or studying. The atmosphere is enjoyable as well. There's usually music playing or a sports game on the TV, creating a comfortable, laid-back environment without being distracting. Their food selection is also better than you'd expect from a coffee shop. In addition to coffee and pastries, they offer cakes, breakfast items, and a variety of other snacks and treats, so there's always something to pair with your drink. Their hours are convenient, making it easy to stop by throughout the day. The only area where I think there's room for improvement is cleanliness. I've noticed on several occasions that when I arrive shortly after opening--sometimes within 30 minutes to an hour--there are still crumbs on the chairs, tables, and floor, even when there haven't been many customers yet. First impressions matter, and the café should be fully cleaned and ready for guests before the doors open. Customers shouldn't have to wipe down their own tables before sitting. Overall, I really enjoy coming here and would absolutely recommend it for the atmosphere, Wi-Fi, seating, and food options. With a little more attention to cleanliness before opening each day, it would be an even better experience.
