Come for the diner vibe, stay for the eponymous scones! There are so many vegetarian options that I didn't get to try so I will definitely be coming back. I really enjoyed seeing the different fusions that I haven't seen anywhere else (scone + waffle = ??) I ended up going for the scone breakfast sandwich which was delicious, but honestly the scone was the main event. I could eat so many different scones - and highly appreciate that they come in both savory and sweet flavors! Definitely take some to go on your way out (btw, they freeze well!) Highly recommend the currant scones though we enjoyed lemon ginger as well!

They are such a lovely neighborhood staple. I went close to 10 on Sunday with my brother and we were seated in 10 minutes even with a lot of people there. The food was amazing as always. The scones are soft and it's fun to see them incorporated into unique dishes like Scones Benedict. I had the French toast and loved the spiced batter they use. Perfect place for a casual hearty breakfast!

Today's scone: blueberry pear. Loved the blueberry pear scone and the carrot, zucchini, walnut muffin. Just buy whatever on displayed in their case. Had breakfast: June with apple sausage omelette, spinach and mushroom, hash brown, jack cheese with raspberry tea scone. I guess I was in line to get today's scone and my food got cold. Hate cold food. My eating mate got scone egg sandwich with cheese. The other had blueberry pancake looked good.

Like many Bay Area locals, I've long been familiar with Sconehenge's packaged scones as their mainstays in upscale grocers like Whole Foods and a reliable treat for my family over the years. What I didn't know until recently was that the company also operates a small brick-and-mortar café tucked away on the quieter edges of Berkeley. I finally stopped by on a Saturday with friends, and the experience lived up to the quality I expected from their grocery-store goods. To our surprise, there was no wait which is practically unheard of at any brunch spot in the Bay. We quickly ordered and split four scones among us: lemon ginger, mixed berry, blueberry, and apple cinnamon. I've sampled pretty much all of them before, but the mixed berry remains the star. Each scone has a plush, tender crumb and a distinct hexagonal shape, setting them apart from the dry, crumbly varieties you'd find in a regular degular Starbucks. Sconehenge's are soft, subtly sweet, and cakey in the best way. I also tried the scone biscuit sandwich: two eggs and two slices of cheese nestled between a scone, priced just under $12. It's not the most transcendent breakfast sandwich I've ever had, but it was hearty, satisfying, and generously portioned. Sconehenge isn't trying to be trendy or upscale by any means. It's a no-frills café with fluorescent lights and laminated menus, but when you're catching up with friends over good pastries and convo, it's all you need really.

My girlfriend and I were in the mood for some classic style diner food today and I happened to see Sconehenge pop up on the map. I knew of them through their scones which I regularly saw at Berkeley Bowl and was quite surprised to see they have a cafe that does traditional diner style Breakfast and lunch. We stopped by for lunch around 12:30 and the place was bustling. We didn't have to wait long and were able to be seated without 5-10 minutes. Sconehenge itself is relatively cozy with lots of tables for parties of 2-4 people. For our meal we shared a Scone (honey pecan), I got a breakfast burrito with the addition of pork link sausage and my girlfriend got a Simple Mexican Breakfast. Everything we had here was good - the scone was fresh, light, and tasted great. My breakfast burrito was awesome - very filling and just what I was looking for. My girlfriend also enjoyed her breakfast and said the rice and salsa were great. On the note of salsa, I wanna shout out like the house hot salsa which was extremely good. To me it had a tomatoey/ chipotle flavor that was perfect. I put it on almost every bite of my burrito after trying it. Other items on the menu also seemed super intriguing like the scoffle and the scone Benedict - will need to try those next time around though. Service was prompt and friendly, and value wise I would say it's pretty comparable to other diners in the area. All in all, I'd definitely recommend making a stop by here. It is the perfect spot for a solid breakfast with good food and great portions. Will be back here again and will be bringing extra scones for home next time

I wish I could give this place a better review, but I left feeling incredibly disappointed. I have been wanting to try Sconehenge for a minute. It has a great location and is in close proximity to a lot of other spots I enjoy. Walking in on a Saturday morning, the restaurant is busy. A small restaurant interior filled with tables and booths flooding with people! The crowd got us excited because surely it had to be great. My friend and I asked for a table for 2 and we were just told to sit wherever. Ok, not too friendly but we get it, it's busy! We sit, make our choices, and wait to be assisted. Also took a while, but no hard feelings. Both of us ordered a Scuffle, their waffle made with scone batter. I opted for a mixed berry version, which was an additional charge. It took about 25 minutes to come out to us. And seeing it, we were disappointed. A small waffle maybe 1.5 times the size of an egg waffle comes out. Not wanting to judge a book by its cover, we dig in and it was just not good. It was doughy, like a cake missing a leavening agent. It was not flavorful, and the mixed berries did no saving. It was so doughy yet dry, it was just weird. I love scone so much, Americans style and traditional European ones. I grew up eating them. Seeing a new twist got me excited and I left disappointed and still hungry. We talked about wanting to get other items on their menu, but with this lackluster experience we didn't want to risk it. This place is more pricey and I don't want to waste money and be disappointed. Unfortunate experience and would not return sadly :(

This was a quaint little restaurant with friendly staff that greeted & helped us. They had lots of baked goods, coffee options & specials. I tried the sc'affle - the scone waffle that came with strawberries & cream. It was a little on the dry side, but the strawberries added freshness to it. My husband got the tamales & they were terrific. I'd definitely come back to try something else on the menu for breakfast or brunch!

My family and I decided to try Sconehenge because it came highly recommended. I was glad to see how short of a walk it was, because I can really see this becoming a staple in my routine. It is close to the Ashby BART station, and there is street parking available. We got to the restaurant about 45 minutes after it opened, which was a great time. While we were eating, the restaurant started to fill up, so we definitely had luck on our side! We ordered several egg-based omelettes and two scones. The omelettes were excellent. I tried the salmon omelette, which was well-salted and perfectly cooked. But the scones? Magical. I loved them so much that I'm planning on returning tomorrow for some scones! Seriously, everyone should try this place!

Cute & very popular brunch spot that blends Mexican & American breakfast foods but nothing to write home about. Service was very busy but sweet. Attentive, filled waters, and accommodating for our large group of diners by putting together tables and chairs for us. About a 15-20 minute wait. June's Omelette ($16) - Omelette with chicken sausage, spinach, and mushrooms. For some reason mine was missing cheese, which the chef came over to inform me about but did not offer to give me any cheese or replace the meal, which I thought was odd. The cheese must carry the dish because I found it a bit unimpressive and bland. Hashbrowns were alright, if underseasoned. The scone was good, crumbly and already buttery on its own. Overall a little disappointed because I'd heard really great things but it was a pretty standard breakfast.

Such a cute little diner that I can't believe I haven't tried before. You can order directly from the counter for takeout which is what I did (but will probably need to come back to try some of their other dishes). Ended up getting a latte, mixed berry scone, and a carrot zucchini muffin. The latte was okay. Maybe a little on the burnt side, but for the cost and size I'll take it. The muffin was amazing. Perfect crunchy crust and soft moist muffin and it didn't have too strong of a "carrot" taste. The scone was a bit of a letdown. It was more of the consistency of cake than a scone, but maybe one of the other flavors are better. I also didn't heat it up so maybe that was the problem. Overall, the cost of everything was very reasonable, especially for the bay area. Not going to jump back here immediately but if I find myself in the area and want a muffin I would highly consider it.

Their menu showed items like waffles and croissant French toast, which sounded really promising. I decided to try the croissant French toast and really wanted to like it. The croissant itself had potential, but the egg mixture was very heavy and lacked some of the warm flavors you typically expect in French toast, like cinnamon or vanilla. Even with the berries and syrup, it still leaned very egg-forward. I also ordered a side of bacon for some extra protein, and that was actually cooked really well. For drinks, I tried the strawberry latte with the vanilla bean soft top. I initially expected more of a coffee-forward drink, but it was much sweeter and reminded me more of an elevated strawberry milk. The space itself is cute and gives more of a social, aesthetic hangout vibe than a traditional brunch spot. Parking can also be a bit tricky. There's free parking in the Trader Joe's garage nearby, but it's unclear whether parking there while dining at the café is allowed. Overall, I liked the concept and atmosphere more than the actual food during this visit.

No one was overtly rude, but the interaction felt rigid and mechanical, as if following procedure mattered more than acknowledging the people standing in front of them. The food always looked really good, but for whatever reason I always ended up ordering from somewhere else. Well, I finally did it. I finally ordered from Cali Alley, and all I have to say is, why did I wait so darn long? Door Dash was having a 2-for-1 deal on the Cali Alley Burger, so I ordered one of those (and got another for free) , as well as on the small mac and cheese, so I ended up with two of those as well. I got fries as he side for the burgers and saved the second burger and mac and cheese for the next day. I also bought a small side of veggie fried rice for lunch later in the week. OK, let's start with the fries ... wow. Super crispy. Don't know what they do to them, but I think I almost ate all the fries that came with one of the burgers before I even touched the burger. The fries seemed to have a coating like some fries do to make them extra crispy on the outside. Whatever it was, it made them so good, I couldn't stop eating them. I was almost too full for the burger. But who are we kidding? If there is one thing I am good at, it is eating more than I should. The burger, which is described on Door Dash as "char grilled, fresh ground brisket and short rib burger, served on a toasted brioche fun with crisp lettuce, tomato onion marmalade and garlic aioli" was thick and incredibly flavorful. I couldn't stop eating that, either. It was that good. I ordered it medium, and it was pretty pink, but it was sooooooo flavorful, and all the toppings worked well together. I didn't get any cheese on it because I wanted to try to burger by itself and not mask it with cheese. I might try adding cheese next time, but honestly the burger is so good, I almost wouldn't want to cover up its flavor with cheese. Oh, I almost forgot. When you order on Door Dash, you can opt to have them include a small side of their chocolate-chipotle bbq sauce, and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a really interesting flavor and is good for dipping the fries in. I didn't try putting it on the burger, but that might be good, too. The mac and cheese was OK. It's important to note that I enjoyed the flavor but it is more of an eggy consistency than a saucy mac and cheese if that makes sense. It has a nice kick of black pepper, which I liked, though. The vegetarian fried rice was also fine but could have used a little salt. All that to say, don't be like me and procrastinate, get the Cali Alley Burger and fries ASAP.
