Simurgh Kebab, kale, mushroom, goat cheese borek and Sabich sandwich
    Cheryl M.

Simurgh Bakery and Cafe offer Mediterranean ("Turkish and Balkan Flavors") baked goods, sweets and traditional breakfast. This was my 2nd time visiting but first time dining in and trying some popular items: CHICKEN PIDE SANDWICH - flavorful chopped (dark meat) chicken on their freshly baked pide that's so fluffy, chewy and filling! Topped with hot roasted pepper and eggplant sauce (ajvar) and yogurt. For those who don't like dark meat, you won't notice and enjoy like my sister! 5/5 SIMURGH KEBAB - Balkan-style kebab called Ćevapi on top freshly baked pide and ajvar. Nicely seasoned but not into this style of kebab preparation - slightly spongy or bouncy from mixing until emulsified like an Asian fish ball. Just a preference. 4/5 BOREK - kale, mushroom and goat cheese - I've had this item before and enjoyed but this visit it was dry, not flaky and dense. 3.5/5 BAKLAVA - house-made phyllo with honey and pistachio. Simple ingredients and delicious. Their version was a tad sweeter than I'm used to (I've tried many) but I'm sure goes great with some Turkish coffee. 4/5 HONEY CAKE - thin layered cake with honey and sour/whipped cream - light and sweet Service is straightforward: order at the counter, given a number and delivered to your table. Small but cute busy cafe with tables inside and outside when weather warms up. Lot parking in the back but shared with Planet Fitness so may be a bit tricky. Definitely a return spot! Average p/p with tax/tip: Lunch entree, dessert and no drink - $38 Bathroom code: 1923! Your welcome ;)

From the same Check Please episode that put Lita on my radar, I discovered Simurgh as well. Their Turkish Breakfast Platter of simit, fried eggs, sujuk, tomatoes, cucumber, feta cheese, kashkaval cheese, jam, black olives, and house-made clotted cream/kaimak & honey, served with a small cup of Turkish tea on the side is satisfying enough for breakfast, lunch, or early dinner. It has the perfect blend of textures and flavors all in one plate. The Istanbul Plate of köfte kebabs, oven-baked potatoes, pide bread slices, grilled shishito peppers, ajvar sauce, and house-made labneh is another perfectly balanced option, of which I would return for both and to try even more of the menu.

I am just writing this review to shout out the amazing service and quality of FOOD! I went for the first time to place a order to go for a relatively large group, and out server SOOOOO helpfully helped me order and label everything by order name making it very easy to give the food out and for splitting our costs afterwards. Not only that, but they also helped me walk the food to my car which I really appreciated. Food: Everything I had was great, but honestly my stand outs were obviously the pide and simit! I would go back just to get those to have on hand. honestly, 10/10 would come back again ANY TIME

We've been there several times for brunch, and we've tried many of their dishes everything has been amazing! The whole menu is great, and the food always tastes fresh and delicious. I've also tried their baklava and cakes both were really good. The prices are a bit high, especially for tea and sweets, but it's still worth it for a nice breakfast or brunch experience. The service is generally good, but sometimes they get mixed up with orders. Even though they give you a placard with your table number, they might bring the wrong order or have trouble finding you but they always fix it right away. Overall, we love this place and totally recommend it!

Do not miss this place!!! To me, the highlight is their pide (pita) bread. Incredibly fresh and fluffy and HUGE, like giant domes. They sell them for $3.50 each and I will often go there just to buy them. They also have Simit (thin Turkish-style bagels with lots of sesame seeds) which you can buy as well. The honey cake is good too. Last time I went we got the egg in a hole and Californian breakfast. Both were awesome. Highlight for me was the scrambled eggs and beef pepperoni that came with the egg in a hole and house-made clotted cream /mascarpone cheese & mixed berry jam that came with the California breakfast. I have tried to recreate both multiple times. Huge fan of this place, it can fill up so recommend getting here on the early side for lunch to be sure you can grab a table.

My spouse and I ordered the Turkish Sampler, and every single bite was a delight. The platter included dolma, sun-dried eggplant dolma, bulgur kofte, bourek, stuffed simit bread with cheese & sujuk/kashkaval, and a fresh shepherd's salad. It was such a generous and well-rounded tasting plate, it felt like a lovingly prepared home meal, full of flavor and variety. We also got two simits: one plain and one with cheese and both were outstanding. The simit was beautifully fluffy on the inside with just the right chew on the outside, and the cheese-stuffed one was especially comforting. The combination of the warm bread and savory cheese was perfect. The café itself is adorable, with such a cozy, home-like feel. You can even watch them making the simit fresh in-house, which was a really cool experience and made everything feel that much more special. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, offering helpful recommendations and genuinely friendly service. This is exactly the kind of small business you just feel good supporting as it is warm, authentic, and clearly run with heart.

Stumbled upon this cute cafe and I'm so glad I did! The staff was extremely welcoming, and I fell in love with the grilled veggie sandwich! It was flavored so nicely, and the bread had the perfect texture. You get a big portion, so the price is pretty justified, but be prepared to spend a little extra for these tasty sandwiches.

I recently got treated to a lovely breakfast at Simurgh and man was I lucky. I've been meaning to try this establishment for a minute, so I'm glad I was finally able to get around to it. Simurgh gives Mediterranean vibes with a casual cafe feel. This spot is also a bakery that sells various breads and cakes. Food-wise I decided to go with the Turkish breakfast which comes with beef pepperoni, Turkish bread, eggs, a salad, and tea. The bread situation was awesome! Just the right amount of chew with nice flavoring from the toppings sprinkled on it. It's also served with what appeared to be honey butter as well as a delicious jam. The beef pepperoni was a nice twist as well given that I'm used to bacon or sausage patties with my breakfast. Given that I'm not used to this type of breakfast, I will say the novelty was a nice touch. Overall the platter was filling and had good variety. My tea was also very solid. I enjoyed my food and the vibe at Simurgh. I hope to come back and try more of their items at some point.

Turkish cafe with good varieties of Turkish cuisine, pastries, sweets. Has busy hours and quiet hours with service quality depending on atmosphere. Our service was slow with wrong deliveries. Service needs systematic improvement in busy hours with perhaps dedicated assignments to servers rather everyone does everything. Food was OK delicious and fresh. Indoor seating with limited outdoor seating. Free parking lot. Flat area but tight routes inside for accessibility. Not good for kids. Good for brunch/lunch, take outs and small groups, meetups, couples.

With this place two blocks away from home, it's a mystery why I don't dine here more often. Everything is so fresh and flavorful, and service is super friendly. Also, if you're a TooGoodToGo user, you can sample so of their delicious baked goods at a discount.

We ordered a mini lamb wrap, mini chicken wrap, rose tamarind drink and mint lemonade. The lamb was gristly and dry, so I preferred the chicken wrap, but was disappointed to find that it featured only chicken (well-seasoned and juicy) and did not have any tomatoes, cucumbers, or other vegetables like the lamb wrap did. The chicken wrap was only chicken and lavash. Perhaps it was an oversight on the staff's part, even though the restaurant was not busy during a Friday lunch. And it also still took some time to get our orders out even though we were the only ones in line and there were only two other parties eating there. Maybe there were tons of to-go orders they had to fulfill? I'll be sure to check out the Santa Clara location as well in the future, but for this luncheon, we had to temper our disappointment by going around the corner to get some Gregory's.

Seeing the prices increase over the years hurts but I understand - it's the economy. With that said, it's really important to manage your online menu correctly. Annoying but your prerogative. Currently, for weeks, a side of fries are double the price. The curly fries are $12.94. I've worked in a restaurant and managed the DoorDash kiosk. They need to adjust the pricing in the kiosk. I'm assuming that no one has gone into the restaurant and shared that they are overcharging customers. I called their phone number but it's some automated Ai service that says DoorDash manages the menus. That is not true. Why would DoorDash manage menu pricing for all of the restaurants on their platform? That would be crazy. Ai isn't perfect but I'm not even able to leave a voice message to let them know.
