Lots of old wooden tables filled with locals of all ages. Outside, there's often live music. I've spent many afternoons here sitting in the corner working or crocheting or people-watching. We came for a late lunch and ate the chicken pesto pizza (5/5), prosciutto pizza (5/5) and the pizza special Summer Pizza (5/5) and the fettuccine Alfredo pasta (5/5). *We ordered the summer pizza that was on special but we were served the prosciutto. The tuna melt was so good! The celery mixed in gave it the perfect crispness and the side of fries included was also really good. Came here for breakfast mostly because it was the only thing open and was super disappointed. I don't know why they say there's vegan options bc there are none.. I decided to get the avocado toast with eggs on the side to give to my friend. It came with a side of home fries so I thought it would be filling enough but it was the saddest thing ever. Barely any avocado, no seasonings, and the smallest amount of potatoes. I was so hungry that I didn't take pics before eating. OK... I know I should have known better than to order a Matcha Latte in an Italian cafe, but I was really feeling tea at the time. Given this place has the perfect combination of proximity and long(er) hours than other cafes, I think there's something about the baristas that prevents it from being one of my regular go-tos for me. I can't put my finger on it. This last time, I felt a bit questioned as I place my order, if that makes any sense. Also minor detail, I somehow don't have great feelings for the card processor that doesn't display the total, making tipping a bit less convenient for me, lol. Anyways, this particular visit, I decide to get a matcha latte and tiramisu. Tiramisu, no question, is fluffy and just decadent. Matcha latte, on the other hand, is tasteless. I go back to the counter and ask for more matcha - they pleasantly agree (to my relief, thought I'd get the eyebrows). However, the didn't help much, not surprisingly it's a pre-made mix. However, I would say that the outdoor seating is very advantageous for this place given the pandemic times. They have both a front AND back patio, with a good amount of tables and chairs in total. The place that I was originally supposed to go to was closed. Saw that this café was nearby and still open and decided to check it out. I love how open and airy the space is. It's bright and the soft natural light makes it feel comfortable. I observed several people either studying or working. It was pretty quiet for the most part with the exception of a few light conversations between a few patrons at the tables. Café Chiave offers your typical café food and drink fare. I opted for a chai latte and a turkey and cheddar sandwich. Wasn't really expecting much with this, but both the tea and sandwich were quite delicious and filling. The sandwich comes prepared with toasted bread and melted cheese, almost like a panini style. This makes sense as they also have paninis on their menu. The sandwich had a good amount of turkey and the side green salad was very refreshing. The chai latte doesn't usually come very sweet here per the barista, but he was able to sweeten it up for me. I loved the frothiness on top. It tasted lovely. Service at the register could have been a bit better. Seemed liked the guy behind the counter was more interested in playing with his phone than he was with helping customers. That and the cleanliness are the only two issues that I really had here. The cleanliness issue came about when the barista proceeded to prepare drinks and sandwiches with gloves on and then take cash, cards, and use his phone while using the same gloves. I mean, what's the point of using the gloves if you're not going to change them afterward? Aside from that, I really did enjoy this place. Each dish was about $13-14 which is a decent price range. The food came out within ten minutes. The pesto sauce is creamy and garlicky. I enjoyed dipping my bread into the sauce and mixing it with the spaghetti. The spaghetti was alright, a straight forward dish. It tasted like the ingredients it came with.
