I initially came to this naturopathic clinic seeking answers for ongoing health issues. I was given a food sensitivity gut test, which I later learned are highly inaccurate. Based on these results, I was told that gluten and dairy were the cause of all my problems and instructed to eliminate them completely. I trusted this guidance because they are doctors and I am not. Unfortunately, following this advice led to severe gut dysbiosis, to the point that I was hospitalized. I continue to deal with long-term health issues as a result. After this, I returned to conventional (western) medicine, but when that did not bring relief, I decided to give this clinic another chance and saw a different provider. I thoroughly explained everything I had been experiencing. I was then encouraged to purchase hundreds of dollars' worth of supplements, all of which I reacted poorly to. Every single one. Despite extensive testing and repeated blood work over the course of more than a year, it began to feel as though I had to guide the providers toward possible diagnoses myself. I continued spending hundreds--then thousands--of dollars on appointments because the root cause was never identified. Eventually, I sought care elsewhere. An excellent doctor outside of this facility identified the true underlying issue: a chronic mycoplasma infection. This raises a serious question--how was this missed after a year and a half of testing? Because this infection went undiagnosed for so long, I suffered for nearly two years and developed additional conditions, including severe gut dysbiosis, MCAS, and small fiber neuropathy. The damage has been life-altering. There has been no accountability, no acknowledgment, and no refund--despite the immense financial cost and physical suffering I endured while under this clinic's care. I am writing this not out of anger, but out of disappointment. Dietary trends like eliminating gluten and dairy are not a universal solution, and relying on them without thoroughly investigating root causes can be dangerous. In my case, this approach delayed a straightforward diagnosis that could have been identified with a single targeted blood test. I sincerely hope this clinic reflects on cases like mine and does better for future patients--by practicing deeper investigation, individualized care, and responsibility for the outcomes of their recommendations. Additionally, upon leaving the session, I observed that the entire interaction had been voice recorded without my knowledge or consent. After reviewing all documentation and consent forms within my patient portal, I found no indication that recording was part of the intake process, nor was this disclosed verbally during the session. Beware that clinical decisions will be made without comprehensive lab work or a detailed review of medical history. I was prescribed blood pressure medication despite my documented history of syncope. This seemed medically inappropriate and potentially unsafe (maybe im just not knowledgeable enough, who knows). I can imagine what prescribing ketamine sessions could do to someone without proper medical review. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this facility felt unsafe for those looking for long term options without the use or over prescription of pharmaceuticals or ketamine. Dr. Connell is the first and only doctor I have ever been to that actually listens. Further, she considers your entire mind, body and environment in developing treatment. She made several suggestions and immediately told me her plan would not entail me being on all of the supplements and such forever, but to reduce to exactly what is needed as we proceeded through treatments. This is a fact. From the first set of supplements to now - the supplements have been reduced to half.
