He was nice and professional and explained to me what he was going to do and then next steps based on what he found. He removed the existing refrigerant from my vehicle (informing me there was only a small amount left) and did a vacuum test on my system to confirm whether i would be able to hold new refrigerant or whether he would need to diagnose a leak. It held the vacuum and he filled it with new refrigerant. A few weeks later and it is still blowing cold. I was in and out in about an hour and the cost was very reasonable. The key item for me is that CARS was honest. The place appears to be run by the owner, and he doesn't try to do repairs that are not needed. I want three things when having auto repairs done. 1) Honest shop that doesn't sell you things or services you don't need. 2) Take care of my car and don't mess it up (scratches or whatever), and 3) Repair done right at a fair price. CARS clearly excels at the first item. My repair was pretty simple, so there wasn't likely to be any concerns with 2 or 3, but the repair was definitely done right and there was no damage to my vehicle. I have a friend who referred me to CARS who has been using him for a couple of decades. He told me CARS has done a good job with his repairs and that he was very honest and the cost was fair. When they finally contacted me, they provided a $1,403 estimate claiming internal transmission issues such as "shift bushings needing replacement," along with clutch and slave cylinder labor. Diagnosing internal transmission components requires removing and opening the transmission, which they did not do. They also did not perform any of the standard hydraulic diagnostic steps such as checking the master cylinder, slave cylinder, push rod, fluid level, pedal travel, or engagement point. No explanation was given for how any of the listed issues were identified. The real problem turned out to be hydraulic and was repaired elsewhere. The Jeep is now running perfectly, which confirms that the issues listed in Brown's estimate were not based on proper inspection or testing. I would not recommend this place.
