At the time I managed a small fleet of company vehicles and as a result of poor service at another automotive repair shop I took our daughters recommendation and begin having our small fleet of company vehicles serviced at McKays Automotive on Louetta Road. As a result of the great customer service and reliability we also began having our family vehicles serviced there at McKay's. A big thanks to Curtis, Dan and their staff at McKay's for the continued great service that we receive there. We continue to have our family vehicle's serviced there now for nearly two decades. If for some reason they can't repair or work on a specific part they can recommend a location and you can trust that referral from McKay's. I dropped my car off and asked them to run a diagnose on the car ; they didn't check anything on the car, there were also no codes to run either ; I paid 119$ basically for them to drive the car here and there. They claim they didn't check anything because they weren't told to do and that they were told to just drive it. But I was told they would keep it two to three days and drive the car while also checking the spark plugs and throttle body. I feel scammed and ripped off. Smh never will I ever go here again! Beware! 100% dishonest! Bad business! The only reason I gave one star was because they fixed some work they previously did that wasn't done correctly the first time. They also changed my oil one time and the filter was loose! I had a low oil alert one morning after starting my vehicle. Went under my vehicle and could turn the filter by hand! I had just recently replaced my vehicle engine. If I could give zero stars I would. What I thought was a great mechanic shop turned out to be a huge disappointment! This place is not honest despite the good reviews. Do yourself a favor, get a second opinion, and find an honest mechanic (not many left). You will find out that the owner of this place is just out to make money off people! Absolutely pathetic business practice! I wouldn't refer my enemies to this place! Recently, I went in for some noise my vehicle was making. Diagnosis was 100% correct, but instead of rebuilding the part, the owner just wanted to replace the entire piece. $3,000-$5,000 was what he quoted me. Options were aftermarket or Jasper. I knew this could be rebuilt, but for some reason he just wanted to replace the entire thing. He didn't even bother to open up anything to check it out. I'm guessing they just drove it around. I found an honest mechanic who quoted me a rebuild for $1,300 (Worst Case Scenario), and after he replaced everything, it was only a little over 1,000! He also did this on a Saturday, and I picked it up that afternoon at 6:30 PM. That's awesome service! It saved me about $4,000 had I gone with what the owner of the first shop suggested! I realize that he may not have the staff to rebuild this and he said that they would have to send it off to be rebuilt. If that's the case, then hire someone who can rebuild things! Moral of the story: Shop around and get a second opinion. read more

Im new to the neighborhood. I stopped by to have them check out some electical issues I was hab=ving with my Tahoe. Within a hr they figured out the problem and fixed. i mention somethings firestone said i need ed to repair. It was checked out ...turns out Firestone was not correct on the repair and a easy fixed was resolved. so far these guys are awesome. My rear window suddenly wouldn't stay up so I took it in here as I just moved to the area and my usual shop is across town. Quoted price was $1,000.00 to fix the motor and regulator, saying it was difficult to find and the part itself was over $700. I called my usual shop and they texted me a photo of the part online (new) for $180. My total cost at my usual shop with labor is going to be $500. Really disappointed that they would overcharge like this. This shop would have been very convenient as it was in walking distance for me but I won't be returning. read more

Came here for an oil change with a coupon. I was in and out quickly and everyone was friendly. The oil change was charged as advertised. The only concern/question I had about the experience was with the oil filter, which was kind of pricey for a filter and which they didn't ask me about before changing. I guess the Prius filters are more expensive, so that probably isn't McKay's fault, but any time I've had oil changed before, I have been asked about replacing a filter before it is done and I'm charged for it...but in this case they just changed it and I didn't know until I was checking out and saw the charge. I would go here again for an oil change, but I would ask them about the oil filter issue first. read more

Do not go here! We had used McKay's since they were off of Jones Road back in the 1980's. We had used them consistently since then except for the past few years. The front office staff had been repeatedly changed for one reason or another, one bad employee after another but a few in between should have been keepers for their customer service alone. As I said we haven't been here in a few years because of front office employees, price, competency, honesty. etc. One Saturday, when our regular mechanic isn't open, we had a situation that required the battery clamp to be changed same day. We drove the vehicle to McKay's, told them exactly what the problem was. We were expecting an approximate charge of $30-$45. They looked at it and came back to tell me that it would be $85. I disputed the price as it would not take an hour to change the battery clamp, 10 minutes at most. We discussed it further at my insistence. He said that he would go ask the mechanic if he could do it for less......mechanics decide on what is charged?? Anyway he came back and said that the mechanic said he could do it for $40-45. Reluctantly I agreed to the price for the replacement and was on my way in "5" minutes!!! I felt the guy was really dishonest and didn't think a woman would stand her ground or maybe we're just not smart enough about mechanical issues. I called 3 other mechanics on Monday, including the one we go to and all quoted prices between $25-40. It's a $2 part! The clamp is $2 or if you do it the other way with a nut and soldering it's a little more. I called Mr. McKay's personal cell phone number, posted in the lobby, never to receive a call back. Don't post your number, say that you will return the call and then don't; we called on Oct 4. Unfortunately can't leave zero stars. read more

I had the torque arm and lower motor mount replaced on my car. The car is a 2010 Cadillac DTS. The quote was $628.00 for basically two motor mounts. Richard explained that the process with changing each mount. I felt that they really appreciated my business and they were friendly as well as knowledgeable. If I could give negative stars, I would. Complete waste of money and time. I took my car in for AC issues. They tried to charge me 2300 to replace the compressor (which I later found out was way over priced). Luckily I decided to simply recharge the freon first. I have a 2007 Dodge Ram that sprung a transmission problem along with an illuminated check engine light. My fear was that i would incur a massive transmission replacement cost. McKey's Automotive (Craig) ran a diagnostic on the vehicle and discovered that the only thing wrong was a sensor that was kicking off both the light AND causing the tranmission to downshift hard and die on the idle on occasion. They fixed my vehicle 100% for 200 dollars which included all parts/labor and was able to fix the problem in a hour. One of the greatest frustrations in dealing with automotive related issues is finding a repair/service shop that can be trusted not to over embellish repair costs as a measure to boost profits necessarily. Since most of the consumer base are not automotive savvy, this sort of thing is easy to do. I am glad that i have found the proverbial needle in the haystack with McKay's Automotive. They are a small operation but they are highly competent and honest. I highly recommend this shop for automotive related repairs and service work. Warren. read more

DO NOT GO HERE !!!! If you work hard for your money and actually want something done to you vehicle go somewhere else!!! I took my car here and paid 6 different times for balance and rotations on my tires over two years. One day I was driving my tire blew out and I found out that my wheel locks were never even opened since I purchased the car so they LIED and did nothing and charged me for NOTHING!! The fact that they caused damage to my car and tires by not doing what I paid for is horrible. My husband started marking his parts and found out they pretty much will try to get away with everything FROM OIL changes to changing parts if you don't double check to make sure they did the work. If you car is broken down in front if this place you are better off paying to tow it ANYWHERE else! Horrible people and bad business look at there google reviews they do it to anyone they can should , they should be shut down ! Look at BBB numerous complaints about the same thing!Risking peoples lives and ruining peoples cars they work hard to buy and think they are maintaining !!! read more

Excellent, honest service. I take my car here for oil changes, state inspections and anything else that crops up with my car. I have always received honest quotes, good advice and friendly service from the guys there. Some garages are out to get as much as they can from you, but here they will tell you what work is necessary, what's desirable and what's good to maintain your car. 100% recommended. read more

I took my car to get my brakes fixed, turns out the brakes were making noise still!! So I took my vehicle back, I guess it was Kevin at the time behind the desk who told me he had to order the "actual brake for my car"??? !!! So this whole time I was running with wrong brakes, low and behold my brakes still didn't work I took my vehicle back 2 more times and they couldn't repair my brake!!! $$700.00 down the drain.....oh yea also I had a "McKay's %20 off a brake repair coupon" which they didn't honor because they used name brand parts and have to charge full price?? Talk about a bait and switch.. Totally unethical and a bad business, oh and the didn't even rotate my tires during a full synthetic oil change like they should because it is included in the package......,stay away from this place!!!! read more
