Now that we are caught up in history lesson, onto the immersive (of a computer display or system) exhibit. There are no physical pieces of art just some random crystal mirrors and railings. Book online for the 1 hour slot you enter into room warehouse proceed to the second warehouse you will feel sand on the ground getting all over your Gucci shoes dirty. The 3D show last about 30min but you can stay longer. The building itself use to house the former Hyatt hotel since renovated into student housing for Auraria campus. Overall cool experience especially for the BFA type. The price ranges from $40-$60. Interesting facts: Van Gogh committed suicide at the age of 37. Six weeks prior he finished the "Portrait of Dr. Gachet" was purchased for $82 million in year 1990 the most expensive sold painting at the time. As of 2022 the most expensive painting title is held by "Salvator Mundi " by Leonardo da Vinci was purchased for a whopping $450 million USD and is rumored to be owned by MBS the crown prince of Saudi Arabia. read more

We had a great time viewing this exhibit. The images and the presentation format were absolutely lovely. I felt however that the exhibit space was pretty limited. It would have been great to have it more spread out and where you can engage with the images. This exhibit is really setup so that you sit in a room I. A space and then you watch the videos of the images that are on repeat. It was a little frustrating that no one was monitoring the rooms as well. We stayed an extra 30 minutes into the next round of images because we had an "influencer in the wild" who was taking photos and had us keep moving so they could get their perfect shot. The images were beautiful though, definitely a lovely experience if you know what you are expecting. read more

Having heard the hype around the Van Gogh Immersive (and my obsession with Emily in Paris's version of it in season 1), my husband and I decided to spend a much needed day date out and about downtown. Lunch was our first stop, followed this this fun and unique experience! PRO: Located in downtown Denver, the museum is close to a lot of surrounding restaurants with a decent view. Although located off the beaten path across the highway from downtown, google maps and signage lead to the actual location. CON: The museum itself is located in a large student housing/apartment facility, so the vibe is a little awkward. PRO: Parking is adjacent to the main facility - in a dirt lot, which is totally walkable to the museum and FREE. CON: The large parking lot near the entrance is for students and residents, allowing for little to no handicap parking for those in need. PRO: Tickets are available online to reserve a date and time, which made the process easy-peasy! CON: Tickets are expensive! For just my husband and I to attend was $100! PRO: Beverages (including alcohol) is offered at the entrance - if you choose to imbibe! CON: None! PRO: Also offered online, is the reservation of circle to stand in, chairs or a bench allowing visitors to sit down to fully immerse themselves into the moving artwork! Definitely a nice perk for those who want to soak it all in, not stand the entire time, or handicapped people. CON: Reservations for said circles/chairs/benches are not enforced, as anyone who is anyone can sit where they like if a spot is open. Many people found an open seat (including us) without paying for a reservation. PRO: The exhibit is spread out throughout 2 large rooms and plays evenly in each room, allowing for anyone to go from one room to the other without missing a thing. CON: Rooms can be somewhat crowded depending on the time of day you come and the size of your party. Thankfully, the day we arrived (A Wednesday at 1pm) it was decently dead. PRO: The artwork is truly magical! I have always loved Van Gogh's work since I visited the museum in Amsterdam and this was no exception! The mixture of music and movable art was carefully crafted to awake the senses, evoke emotion and is one of a kind! The artwork track plays on a continuous loop, which I found to be helpful as you can enter the exhibit at any time and not miss anything, despite what other reviewers said. CON: NONE! Like so many, I bought tickets months in advance and waited in excited anticipation for the day to see this exhibit. Ultimately, it left much to be desired. Tickets were not cheap, especially if you felt inclined to buy the seat cushions or other packages. Luckily, we opted for the bottom of the line which was simply a fixed timed ticket. It cost $40 for each ticket with a mediocre experience at best. Arriving was easy and parking was a plenty. Just be aware that if you have difficulty walking don't park at the first lot you see with Van Gogh sign parking. There is a bigger lot in the back near the actual entrance. I enjoyed the Van Gogh sign out front and the paint brush and bucket. It got me excited for what was to come. Scanning tickets was a breeze and the staff were all helpful and nice. The exhibit itself was quite underwhelming. I was confused by the few art pieces that were placed inside the exhibit because they added nothing to the experience nor were they nice to look at. The projection was lacking and the music was quite loud at certain times. Also, the whole thing lasted 35 minutes and not an hour like the website said. Granted you can stay as long as you want, but the whole thing was just not what I was expecting. At the end, you walk into the gift shop where there's a lot of interesting and cool items, but they were too expensive for my liking. All in all, I didn't feel like my time was wasted, but I found that there were certain things they could have done to make the experience more enjoyable. read more

Honestly, I liked Van Gogh Alive better and will explain why. The VG Immersive exhibit, firstly, the setup was weird. When we arrived, the person at the door we first walked into made us go to a different door, she didn't know what she was talking about. It was freezing outside, so why make us go out there when we could've just walked to that same area from the inside the building from the first door we were at? Also, what's extra stupid about it is they were selling drinks/wine. Making us go in the other door totally bypassed all of that which means lost sales for them and a pooer experience for us, as my friend and I definitely would've grabbed a drink. When inside they have these predetermined circle areas for you to stand/sit in to view the show. They really didn't make sense in all the positions and blocked views. Just visually looking at the space, I feel they could've been better strategically placed. How lame when that's someone's job just to get that right and you get it wrong. The glass sculpture things inside there really did nothing to enhance the Van Gogh show. Really, I don't think it made any sense. It was more of a distraction than anything. I remember the walls having distractions on them, too. The gift shop was RIDICULOUS! The prices were outrageous. I understand it's never going to be cheap in any art-related shop, but jeez Louise! There has to be a way to make stuff more affordable and for them to still make $$. I mean if few buy anything, how much are you really making anyway? Honestly, I'd say screenshot what you like and check on the internet, lol!! Now I'll explain why the other event, Van Gogh Alive, was better in my opinion ... VG Alive didn't have these silly distractions of circles spot and glass stuff. In addition, they had these little separate exhibits both before and after the main area which were actually cool! In the beginning at Alive, they displayed reprints of some of Van Gogh's work and written stories next to each of them. It was great to get some background and history about him. He was not a painter for very long (only 10 years) and his amount of outputs was exhausting producing more than 900 paintings! That's 7-8 every month! They also recreated IRL his "Bedroom" painting and had reprints of various different renditions of "Bedroom" which were interesting to see. Then, after the Alive show, they also created a small exhibit in honor of his painting "Sunflowers". It was a small room filled with sunflowers before getting to the gift shop. I learned stuff from the Alive show and didn't learn a thing at Immersive. The extra exhibits were great and informative. The layout inside and outside was better at Alive versus Immersive. read more

Really enjoyed the space, and art work. My husband, the over achiever that he is - bought the VIP Tickets. We wound up sitting on the floor like most of the people there, I don't recommend paying extra for anything. There was no difference in any thing other than which line we were to stand in (we ended up standing in all three anyway). They played one video with music for about 30 minutes- then opened the exit doors. A large majority of the people left, but not all. I wasn't sure of the rhyme or reason - if anyone could stay or just certain people? Who knows. read more

I am not a huge fan of Van Gogh but thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I went to the first showing so it was not crowded, I had plenty of opportunity to find different spots to watch the show and found the experience surprisingly relaxing. Overall I was surprised at how much I loved this experience. There were people sneaking in selfies as one might feel compelled to do in such a place but I did not find it distracting at all. Even I joined in on the selfie fun during the Sunflowers display but everyone was so spread out I doubt anyone even noticed each other's phones. There was someone monitoring the display I suppose to ensure no aspiring influencers were ruining the experience for the older crowd who were there just tryin to escape the chaos of kids for 30 minutes to an hour of serenity. The price is a bit high for the length of the show but I ended up staying for an hour and loved every second of it. You can purchase beverages to enjoy in the first room which would be nice on a date day. Overall, I highly recommend to anyone wanting a unique outing- you don't even have to be a huge Van Gogh fan to enjoy this. read more

When this was announced months ago, hype was heavy. Tickets were going like hot cakes. Expectations were high and it offered intrigue---the venue was a secret to be announced later! Fast forward to this week. We got our seat cushions and moseyed into a large room with two-butt benches placed around the perimeter and some random areas marked on the floor for those who did not want to stand. We were lucky to arrive just as the previous showing ended. People got up off their benches en masse. This should be what you do, too. Otherwise, seating's limited. As others note, there are two rooms where the movie is shown on each of their four walls. They differ slightly, but the experience is mostly the same. Images flow, coming and going both across your view and in/out of existence. I found it easy to immerse myself in thought and image, riding them both until something new caught my attention, preferably not someone walking in front of me. I enjoyed the reflection of the show on the shiny floor and looking through into the other room for some visual twists. Staff were friendly and helpful, from admissions to the gift shop. Canned mid-grade microbrews were available. I appreciated that. Overall, I enjoyed the show and would recommend it to those who take the following into consideration: Tickets were expensive considering the short duration of the event Seating matters if you want both comfort and an immersive experience not interrupted by the constant flow of people in and out or looking for seats. read more

I am not sure what I was expecting but as much as I love Van Gogh this was just ok. I loved that you could sit where you wanted.

First of all there isn't any pre information going in. You are let in randomly to a really dark room, my mother could not see anything. I overheard people coming in asking if there was a step down because it was so dark inside. No there isn't a step down, walk straight in. Once you are in the immersive room the movie is playing already, not sure why they let you in during the middle. You can stay to watch it from the beginning which is nice but it did make me feel off balance. There are benches to sit on if you're lucky to get one. I'm too old for floor sitting. The whole family wished there was a program explains the art we were seeing. It's very unorganized and not worth the price. read more

It was mildly enjoyable. What this is not: - an art museum. There are no tangible Van Gogh artwork - Instagram museum (eg Museum of Ice Cream) - Yayoi Kusama/teamLab-level exhibit - there are no tangible objects meant to be interacted with This is just a light show set up with music on four walls and the floor. Shown across two rooms. There is no narration or thorough reading material describing what you're seeing. Educationally, I became more familiar with Van Gogh's works. Music was fine except some horror-movie suspense track slowly panning up a flower's roots - it was odd. The upgrade gets you some swag and a pillow cushion but it's the exact same experience. We were lucky to have entered towards the end of the movie so we could snag a bench for the next showing. If you need to pass some time, this is not a bad way to spend half an hour. The complaint would be the ~$40 price/person. I bought in-person day of. The website was sold out. The phone lines never picked up. I asked the staff and they said the call center was not onsite - an entirely separate entity. It's actually cheaper to just buy in person as it saves some of the fees. I find it ridiculous that the online tickets also charge for changing times. Parking is in a separate lot as the parking lot immediately in front is reserved for residents. There is no student pricing unless you are a resident of the building the venue is housed in. read more

I now know why this place is called "immersive" because the whole time you are there, the video art is displayed on all the walls and even on the floor. You are surrounded with 360 degrees of art coming straight at you. The video presentation is around 45 mins long and is accompanied by classical music. If you love different styles of art, then this place is for you! read more

Did Immersive Van Gogh in October 2021 and really enjoyed the experience. The images were beautifully, and very thoughtfully curated. The musical pairings helped amplify the art rather than detract from it. I also liked that they didn't pack the house-- there was enough space to walk around a bit, sit down, and get a decent view (even for a shorty like me). Went back today for Immersive Monet and the Impressionists, and enjoyed that too. I would highly recommend the experience overall. If you want to go but don't want to shell out a bunch of money, watch for seasonal sales. That said, keep in mind that not all of the exhibits stay very long. Van Gogh has been running for over a year, but Frida Kahlo was about 3 months, and King Tut was also pretty short-lived. Not sure how long Monet will stay. I did the VIP package for Van Gogh and basic tickets for Monet... honestly, the VIP didn't seem super worth it to me, but to each their own! Enjoy the immersive experience! read more

It's a little expensive IMO but the exhibit itself is very impressive, much better than just walking and browsing paintings in a traditional museum. The work that was done to create animations using Van Gogh art is amazing and I was super impressed. The location is good, close to downtown but on the "other" side of the I25 so it doesn't require driving right into downtown. There are many restaurants nearby and there's even a bar inside on your way in, one just before you enter the show and one as you go out. That's a lot of bars! read more

I really enjoyed my experience here and do believe you get your money's worth if you take the time to watch it 2-3 times. There isn't a time limit as to how long you can stay. I purchased VIP tickets so I was allowed to arrive within two hours (before or after) my reservation time. This alone was worth it because this allowed me to go about my day without need to make a hard commitment. If you purchase an alcohol beverage when you first walk into the space, you "unlock" a different entrance which lets you cut in front of the general waiting space. Take the time to enjoy the lobby since you'll see the backstory on the exhibit and the imagery they'll be focusing on. There's also plenty of photo ops. With VIP, you have a dedicated line to walk through and you receive a seat cushion to use during your stay. Avoid flash photograph because you don't want to be THAT PERSON during the exhibit. I recommend to watch the exhibit at an angle because you'll get the full picture. If you just focus on one specific section of a wall you're going to miss so many details. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and just go in with an open mind. read more

Probably a little pricey for what it is. It is a movie that is looped so it plays continuously throughout the day. There are no actual Van Goph artworks on display and the video doesn't go into the deep depression and despair that Van Goph dealt with for most his life. There are 2 large rooms that are pretty much completely dark. There are a few benches to sit on, and you can rent a cushion. I found a comfortable place to position my cushion and was just entranced, watching the art come to life. I could have watched it several more times, but my friend wanted to go see the rest of the exhibit. But there is no more exhibit. When you leave, you enter into a vastly overpriced gift shop and that's it. It was really beautifully done. Social distancing is well observed and masks are mandatory. read more

I was a bit surprised by the low ratings. I went during a non-peak time and there was plenty of parking. Just don't park when you first see the signs as that is quite far away. I was able to get a much closer spot when I kept driving towards the building. I didn't have any sort of a line to get in and while there were lots of people in the exhibit, it didn't feel super crowded to me. I ended up sitting on the floor in the first room, but there was plenty of seating in the second room. It's a cool experience, but something you probably don't need to do more than once. read more

I wasn't sure of what to expect when coming here but I was imagining more of an art exhibit than a video presentation. You enter into the space and there are some benches and circles on the ground to sit in and full floor to ceiling screens. The video plays on a continuous loop and zooms in and out of different Van Gogh paintings with a soundtrack in the background. The two main downsides for me were that none of the art stayed on the screen for long enough to really get a good look at and second if you easily get motion sickness I don't think this would be for you. Because you're venue is unsafe! My mother fell off the painted stairs at the Van Gogh exhibit in Denver. She's 81 years Young. She had just had reverse shoulder replacement surgery on her left arrm. The stairs the exit which was the only exit available! There was no ADA accessible access to the parking lot which we had parked in. Those stairs had been painted to match the paint of the V"an Gogh Blue" marketing schematics, in order to match the exhibit. The stairs she was forced to use, as the only exit accessible, were not only painted dark blue, but also, didn't have a safe handrail for the entire stairwell. The rrailing ends before the last 2 steps of this very very dangerous exit! My mother, 81 years young, took a tumble off of those stairs, and then fell again from those unmasked, unlighted, and dangerous EXIT ONLY stairs, onto the next unmarked curb-to-parking lot. That is about a 1.5 ft curb that's was painted/marked f previously before was a hazard, designated as a no Park no standing fire lane. That City required fire lane designation and safety hazard that's required by the City and county of Denver was painted over by the lighthouse venue to match theVan Gogh dark navy blue exhibit color palette. 100% unacceptable that this happened with such disregard for public safety and those that have disabilities! The staff would not respond to an emergency, when they were allergic to the situation. Paying such an exuberant amount of money for a immersive experience, if that experience is so immersive that it caused bodily damage, they should be response enough to help the people that have paid the money to attend the exhibit. The lack of responsibility, the lack of education of the employees responsible for the safety of the guests, and a lack of not giving a crap about its patients with disabilities is more than disappointing I would highly recommend that any events lighthouse is hosting, whatever it might be, should be ill advised for those with disabilities or a handicap status. They are obviously discriminatory and do not care about the community that deserves I have the same experience that any fully capable individual can experience without a disability. Lighthouse is a irresponsible venue, and a hazard to the community and the health of the artistic community. I would never recommend this venue for any event! We waited for over an hour for help to get my mother the assistant that she needed. The property managers that own the property that is least to Metropolitan State University told us they're not responsible for anything related to the use of this space. City and county of Denver should be appalled at how they're handling this management situation! Disgusting! What money hungry property development / property management company would be so irresponsible not only for the safety of guest visiting and experience within the campus environment, but to the residence of the property. I spoke with numerous individuals it's their safety concerns are never addressed and have been a problem for years now! Yes, it's cool to see art on a massive screen with movement added but I don't think it was worth buying the premium package to see the show. Also, the sitting situation was weird. There were some benches available to sit on but other people sat on the floor in designated areas. You have the option to rent a seat cushion or it's included with the premium package. I found an open bench but I definitely would not want to sit on the floor with it being messy outside after getting a few inches of snow. The other option was to stand without being in someone else's way. It would have been nice if they indicated which piece of work they were showing. I enjoyed the experience of watching the videos but I felt like for what you charge, it was super short. I would've also appreciated seeing some information about Van Gogh himself. There's 2 rooms and they literally play the exact same thing, maybe next time have 1 room play one part and then have a different part in another room so that the entire experience lasts longer and feels more worth the money. Also, had it not been for the fact that I saw people post about it, I would've never known you had a gift shop. The Immersive Van Gogh exhibit was a wonderful experience and such a cool concept. I went with my mother and both of us enjoyed the layout and the overall experience. Both of us being fans of Van Gogh we were excited to see many of his works that aren't as well know be displayed. We went on Saturday night at 7:30 and felt that while it was busy. It wasn't too over crowded. Be aware that seating can be limited if you are looking to find a bench. One thing I didn't expect to experience was that a few of the displays actually made me feel a bit unbalanced when looking at them. I think a combination of the lights and speed just threw me off. It was very enjoyable and zen but I had the 8pm slot and they shut everything down at 830.. they shouldnt admit people for entrance less than an hour before they stop the exhibit since 30 minutes was not worth the cost. i felt mislead, on a bunch of levels. First thing was when we got there, there were signs saying 'download the app and listen to the audio guide'. Great idea, but FAR too late. We didn't bring headphones, no one around us did. What a shame they didn't tell us that before. there is only one thing, it is a super cool movie and light show that happens. Thing is, that is all. We thought there would be several rooms. Also, a bit disappointing was there were two rooms showing the same thing. Made sense, to accommodate the crowds. However, only one of the rooms was showing film on the walls AND ground (making it feel more immersive). It was also advertised as 'interactive'. No. Outside the exhibit, they had two tiny pictures that changed if you look through your cell phone. It was cool, but the cost was insane compared to the value. Should have been $20 a ticket. If it was $20 a ticket, this review would be a 5 star rave. But, for about $75 after fees... all I got was a cool 20 minute movie. Lastly, there was a bizarre thing that made everything confusing. Two "immersive Van Gogh" shows came to Denver, back to back. From the advertising, they seemed the same. All I knew was $75 a pop was too much to see both. Why did two companies book (essentially) the same show in the same market at the same time? I did some digging, and found this from Las Vegas. Looks like these two companies are chasing each other around the country... cutting their market in half. "Immersive Van Gogh" and "Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience" are two different shows put on by two different production companies. " read more

What started as "ohhh this looks interesting for $40" turned into wow that was not worth $140 bucks. Why are we now paying more for night time showings? Just how many fees and taxes and more fees can you tack onto a ticket. Over priced drinks to start at a tiny bar in the student house area, bring your CC as cash is not accepted. I will say I was expecting something completely different, and that's exactly what my girl friend echoed. I was a bit let down considering the price. Floor seating sucks but at least I got to get in a few yoga stretches and poses. We stayed and watched two full shows and tried out both rooms, back room has better mirrors for you to lean against. Was extremely hot and stuffy inside and there is no social distancing going on, FYI. Half the people weren't wearing masks and the guard was too busy taking photos of the show to mind. I don't want to be too critical, I'd say all in all it's worth a go if your add your own choice of "visual enhancements" to up the experience, but go during the day showings and save yourself the up charges, also opt out of the "up grades". read more

Mind you, tickets are a minimum of $60 dollars each and at maximum you can spend approximately thirty minutes there. It's packed. The Van Gogh visuals equate to a high priced screensaver. Unless you are a major fan of Van Gogh art and life, please, please do no Gogh. read more

That was a fun date. Note: sand on the to create three dimensional wavy images on the floor. Two rooms both with the same images and music. Alcoholic beverages sold at entry. Cushions are helpful with bench seats. Cushions Available for rent at front desk. Social distancing seems to be still in effect here as well. There are other immersive as well as interactive experiences in the same building. I enjoyed myself indeed. I did not visit a restroom so not sure about that aspect. I live far from this experience so I probably wouldn't be going back unless something extraordinary for my taste comes along. But all in all, well worth the visit. read more

It's a cool experienced overall with three dimensional effects and gorgeous digital renderings. My issue is the price. The entire experience takes about 20 minutes. Two rooms with one room having the video projected on the floor. Worth almost $200 for three of us? Absolutely not. read more
