Every visit puts me in a better mood, which honestly says a lot when you're dealing with physical therapy. The treatments have really helped, and I've noticed real improvement. The clinic is clean, comfortable, and has such a positive vibe. It's also in a super convenient location, and the free parking is a huge bonus. I was assigned…read moreto a therapist who was young and whose response to any comment or a question was a high giggle and a murmured "Oh, I see I see". I was assigned a bunch of exercises and she did not know how to print out instructions for me. She instead uploaded them to an app instead, which had me do some basic exercise exercises for up to three minutes. When I came back ten days later (she was unavailable before then) and I asked why they were so long, she said that was incorrect, but she didn't know how to change the routine in the app. She had me go back to my previous workout routine. So in the end, some of the issues with my shoulder did go away. But honestly, it did not inspire confidence in the quality of all the therapists. I think with some you're good with others not so good.

Here comes Dr. Yoshimoto, who literally decreased my mom's knee pain by 90% after 1 visit. Yes, you heard that right - 90%!!! He was extremely patient, kind, and really broke it down in terms of pinpointing what exactly was going on, what treatment was needed, and what exercises to do at home. He was so shocked and was left speechless that my mom was dealing with inept individuals all this time - clowns, I tell you! Unbelievable. You can tell that Dr. Yoshimoto genuinely cares for each of his patients. He's not the typical physical therapist who gives you some stretches to do, hooks you up to a muscle stimulating machine, and/or gives you a head pad and calls it a day. He actually tries to target the source of pain! I am so grateful that I was able to find him for my mom, and I was actually kind of serious when I told her that maybe she should consider moving to HI permanently, just for him. Jason was my PT and had all the necessary equipment needed to provide sessions in my home. Long story short I really have a bad taste in my mouth from certain providers. I found them to be condescending and to position themselves as the authority, rather than evoking and collaborating with my wisdom and expertise on my own body. Also I find that people who are naturally thin tend to make a lot of assumptions about women who aren't naturally thin in terms of how fit we are. Your assumptions were wrong. However for Tara, she made me feel very seen and heard and took a far more collaborative approach. Additionally she stayed curious about what was going on and made some really crucial observations which lead to me seeking further medical tests and learning that in contrast to PT's diagnoses, I actually have osteoarthritis and a totally shredded up hip joint with multiple tears and degenerative cartilage at the most severe level someone can have. I wish I'd sought more testing sooner as I might have been able to intervene before the damage got this bad but super grateful to Tara for her insight and suggestions. She was amazing start to finish. So overall, mixed bag. I hope the other providers can take a more humble approach, recognizing the strengths and wisdom of their clients.

My physical therapist Harvey did an evaluation on what I needed to work on in terms of exercises to help with my neck and shoulder. 2 physical therapy assistants looks in my file to know what exercises that I need. There is a machine which pt assistant set up so it can massage my neck for 20 minutes and heating pad under my back. While I am doing my exercises, they are helping at least 2 other people with their exercises. After I am done with my exercise, Harvey massages my neck and back. HMSA will only allow me 10 physical therapy sessions. At last session, physical therapist will do his evaluation.

I started my therapy in April 2023 and just had my final session this year in December 2023. I had lower back and shoulder pain from someone falling on me and absorbing all of their weight on my back and head. The other person who was a little younger, but heavier than I was; walked away with no pain :) Unfortunately, for me, I landed on the floor on my knees and hands braced on the ground while carrying another person. The back of this person's head hit the back of mine. I was referred to Queen's Outpatient Rehabilitation Center for my Physical Therapy by the Doctors at Queen's Island Urgent Care. Motoki was very meticulous in my exercises. He was very helpful. We developed a daily routine of exercises I would do at the Outpatient Rehab Center then I would do those exercises and incorporate them into my daily routine at home. We meet twice a week. And he is the best!!
