Dr. Dean Yoshimoto is AMAZING!!! My mom has been suffering from extreme knee pain for some time now, and even seeing a sports medicine doctor and physical therapists back at home in Chicago, nothing was working - the pain was still there, if not more so, and there was never a clear answer or a treatment plan that was offered by any of the specialists. Here comes Dr. Yoshimoto, who literally decreased my mom's knee pain by 90% after 1 visit. Yes, you heard that right - 90%!!! He was extremely patient, kind, and really broke it down in terms of pinpointing what exactly was going on, what treatment was needed, and what exercises to do at home. He was so shocked and was left speechless that my mom was dealing with inept individuals all this time - clowns, I tell you! Unbelievable. You can tell that Dr. Yoshimoto genuinely cares for each of his patients. Dean and his team of quality PTs rehabilitated me after a foot surgery. Not only did they massage and work on my foot mobility during sessions they also also gave home exercises that worked in tandem with my gym program to strength my many weak foot muscles. What I really was impressed about was that they found the root cause of why I was having foot problems in the first place. Through training and muscle building of areas that seemed counterintuitive to my base foot injury, I adjust my walking stride as a preventative measure to future injury. I have just finished 6 months of PT with Dean Yoshimoto and couldn't be more satisfied. Dean first helped me several years ago and I was very happy with his services. It wasn't just the overall result of physical improvement but also the personal comfort and care that I received that made a difference. I have worked with other PT's in the past but none compared to Dean. When I fractured my ankle last summer and needed outpatient PT, I immediately only thought of Dean for treatment. Of course, he's really skilled and experienced as a therapist, identifying and explaining problem areas and expertly working on strengthening, flexibility and range of motion. Besides hands on massaging, we also did some machine and floor work. He also patiently and repeatedly showed me exercises to do on my own and helped evaluate the effectiveness of different shoes that I brought in. He also suggested and demonstrated hand-held massagers. The testimonials already speak to Dean's attributes as a highly trained experienced therapist and his thoughtful engaging style. I won't repeat but will instead pass on one anecdote about his unique compassion for his patients and his work. When my current round of treatment started, my first appointment was mostly evaluation and discussion. I was looking forward to the second appointment to get therapy really started. But the only time available was a Friday at 5:00. But I got a call that Friday afternoon that Dean's 4:00 cancelled so could I come in at 4:00 instead. Sure, I could avoid some traffic and start my weekend! When I arrived, I say to Dean something like "you must be glad that you're 4:00 cancelled. Now you don't have to stay for my 5:00 and wait until 6 to leave on a Friday night. You can go home earlier!" No, he shakes his head, "the 4:00 patient really could use therapy on her injury. I wish she didn't have to miss the appointment." Wow, I was surprised and impressed by his dedication and genuine interest in the progress and well-being of his patient! Dr. Robert Atkinson of Orthopedic Associates gave me an authorization for physical therapy on my calves and ankle. HMSA's contracted mainland company authorized me to have 6 physical therapy sessions. This is my 2nd time to Yoshimoto Physical Therapy this year. I like this place because it so convenient. I had visited several different physical therapy offices for my knee, spine, tendon and leg pain problems over 4 years. I haven't has much success with alleviating my pain over the years. But after visiting Dr. Dean for 2 months, I've found myself with significant improvement in my body posture and significantly less general aches and pains. Dr. Dean is very diligent, knowledgeable, caring and always puts forth his full attention to every patient. For every visit, his first step is establishing an understanding of my current condition and wanting to know of any further areas of improvements that we can work on. After carefully listening, Dr. Dean then takes the time to carefully observe my body coordination during his exercises. With that he diligently is able to then point out, and demonstrate corrective measures to help any weakness that I may show in my form. with proper way do exercises or new exercise. Hands Down! Shoulder Moving! The best PT I have ever had. I have a large bone spur under my rotator cuff and it became inflamed. I could not move my arm up or out from my body. I was in the worst pain that I have ever been in and it was so excruciating, i cried through most of it. Dean Yoshimoto was able to immediately take me in and had rearranged his day off to do so. He worked on my shoulder/arm 2x a week for the entire hour and immediately I was relieved of pain little by little and by Week 3 I was moving it again. I cannot express enough the gratitude I have for Dean and his Staff alleviating the pain and getting my arm working again. Dean Yoshimoto is an awesome guy! He gave me a lot of good advice and more. I had injured my piriformis muscle playing pickle ball back in November 2023. I was referred to Dean by my Doctor in January 2024 cause it was taking too long to heal. I'm glad I I did go in and had my injury evaluated, come to found out I was too stiff and not flexible. So Dean had me do no worries exercises and stretches. He even massage my back muscles, and elbow that piriiformis muscle which felt really great and after doing this for 6 weeks I felt better. I was able to twist, bend and my injured muscles got better. Till one day a car hit me in the cross walk and spinned me to the ground. Because of the exercise and stretching I'm been doing I was okay with no body pain. We all need to learn to exercise and stretch as we get older. read more

Dean Yoshimoto and his staff are all excellent, knowlegdgeable physical therapists who help people through their recovery needs.; I met them after a surgery. Most of my sessions have been with Dean, who has the talented hands one comes across every once in a while that act like x-ray machines. His hands can "see" everything and he knows the whys and hows to find anythng that is aggrevating the problem and, through massage and exercises, to reduce the problem and heal the patient. I have also seen several members of his staff, who are also extremely competent at resolving pain and immobility problems. All of the staff are friendly and eager to help. This place is so unlike those "factory physical therapy places" which put everyone throug the same general program of 10 minutes of this and 10 minutes of that, regardless of their individual needs. Yoshimoto Physical Therapy is absolutely amazing. Dean and his staff are top both and have taken amazing care of me for three years now. Due to sports (rugby, hockey, football and cross country running) and work (four years in the Marines and 20 as a firefighter in NY) my knees are completely shot. The crew at Yoshimoto PT kept them going until I have a right knee replacement last year. They eased me into the new knee while keeping the other pain free, or as pain free as can be and flexible. I've needed physical therapy several times over the years. Dean and his staff were by far the best. They spent the time to analyze how my injury was specifically affecting my movement and pain. They are one-on-one the entire session, rather than bouncing between patients. They explain the exercises so that you can create a program to keep progressing even after PT visits end. And they work on the injury area with massage which immediately relieved pain and increased mobility. All of this added up to a fast and efficient recovery. My daughter is a gymnast and I guess you could say she has become a regular at Yoshimoto Physical Therapy. Dean is the BEST!!!! He knows what he's doing, he knows how to communicate with you and will do whatever it takes to get you back on your feet! Just went to see him a couple of weeks ago, my daughter had badly sprained ankle from a competition in Bolivia the week before. Get back home with only 10 days to prepare for US National Championships in North Carolina. Dean works on her ankle for 3 sessions, we follow all his instructions to get the swelling down prior to competition. My kid went from no way of competing to 2 third place finishes and a 5th! I went to Yoshimoto Physical Therapy for around half a year for ACL surgery rehab. The staff is very friendly and are there to help you return to a healthy, active lifestyle. They truly care about your well being and success in Physical Therapy. My goal was to return to wrestling after ACL surgery, but I also gained something else from attending Physical Therapy. Through therapy I learned about the muscle and body functions, the different rehab cases and the field of PT overall. I am a 73 year old male who had knee replacement surgery on January 30, 2015. Subsequently, I was treated twice by a physical therapist in Seattle. The following week I flew to Oahu, HI for a long-planned vacation. Soon after arriving in Honolulu I scheduled eight sessions over the ensuing month with Yoshimoto Physical Therapy. Only then did I realize there are vast differences in treatment among physical therapist providers. In Seattle, the technician simply had me perform the nine "standard" exercises shown on a flyer the therapist had provided me during my first appointment in Seattle. Under the direction of owner/operator Dean Yoshimoto, his staff takes a far more comprehensive and effective approach. I was treated by Dean and therapist Steven Lim. They both employed a mix of soft tissue mobilization, manual therapy and elcetro-therapy. Additionally, I was treated for one hour, or longer, at each session, not the 30 minutes I experienced in Seattle. I would not return to this place. Although Steve, my therapist, is very well educated and can perform manual manipulation of the injured area, I did not feel comfortable with some of his comments. Praise for my progress at one session and underhanded comments about "where you should be" at the next. My issue was quite complex; I do not fit into the general physical therapy formula that applies to "normal, healthy but currently injured" people. I don't think Steve's intentions were wrong, but his delivery certainly was. I'm going to physical therapy to get better, not to be subtly berated for being at the level I'm at. I also think the front desk staff are horrendous. Not friendly and they do not return messages. I twice left messages and never received a return call. All they do is sit there answering phones and scheduling appointments! They also tried to incorrectly bill me and it was a headache to sort out with them. Unacceptably unprofessional. read more
