Over the next few days, I also got quotes from Maaco, Advantage Auto Body, Competitive Auto Body, and Gerber. The prices ranged from $4,900 to $3,400. Capital City Collision gave me the lowest quote ($3,400) while also treating me with the most respect and understanding. I dropped off my car on Monday of that week. By Tuesday/Wednesday, they had already disassembled what was needed. They were upfront that there was some visible internal damage and that they wouldn't know the full picture until everything was apart. Unlike other shops that wanted to replace everything, they explained where repairs were possible (like reshaping my radiator rather than automatically replacing it). This saved me significant money. They were also flexible in ways other shops weren't: their aftermarket parts prices matched what I found myself, and they had no problem with me sourcing parts if needed. Several shops refused this outright or insisted on OEM only. Their labor was $55/hour and very fairly priced. I called them a week later for an update, they were still waiting on parts. The following week, they let me know the part they first ordered was broken, so they ordered a new one but they expected the car to be ready the next day. The only hiccup was with one headlight: the part was originally quoted at $600, but since it wasn't available at that price, they adjusted the labor so the difference was only $200 instead of the full increase. That kind of effort to keep the price as close to the original quote as possible is rare in this industry. On September 26th, they called me to say the car was basically ready but had two issues: (1) the PCS light was on (a sensor that helps with braking safety) and (2) the battery had died while they were test driving. Here's where I really appreciated their transparency, they could have easily claimed I needed a new PCS sensor (a very expensive part) or a new battery. Instead, they explained exactly what they were seeing, test-drove the car four times, and told me it might just be a calibration or placement issue. Within an hour, they found the sensor was simply out of place, and the battery worked fine after a jump. They even suggested I go to AutoZone (where I originally bought the battery) to test it, and AutoZone confirmed the battery was perfectly healthy. They could have charged me thousands more, but they didn't. That honesty means everything. The finished work looks fantastic. The hood was completely destroyed in the accident, and part of the side body wasn't great, but I chose not to replace that panel to save money. Because of that, the hood alignment is a little wider on one side, but they respected my choice and explained the tradeoff. It's not noticeable unless you're looking for it. The car looks great, drives great, and was finished efficiently. For comparison: at Advantage Auto Body, they insisted on sawing off my hood just to give me a quote, then left the saw inside my car until Maaco found it and removed it. Other shops were hundreds to over a thousand dollars more expensive without offering more transparency. As a young woman handling this process on my own, it was discouraging at times to see the price differences, but Capital City Collision never made me feel taken advantage of. Overall, they were professional, fair, and incredibly honest. I wish I could tip them on top of what I paid. I'll attach before/after photos to show the difference, but I can say with confidence: this is the shop I would recommend to anyone. Lessons learned: If you're in this situation, I recommend going to multiple shops for quotes and seeing where they overlap on what really needs to be replaced. After that, check aftermarket prices for those parts so you know whether the quote is fair. I looked for best deal to fix my damaged rear bumper. One body shop gave me an estimate of $1,200.00 and some change. Another sand lot guy told me if I buy a "skin" and go to Tallahassee and buy the paint, he'd paint it and replace it for $500.00. And I'd still have the trouble of finding a used bumper, and buying the paint. It would still have cost me some $800.00 all told. Then I found Mike. He took the bumper off. Fixed the dent. Painted it. Put it back on for $620.00. What a deal. And the job was perfect. I can't say enough good about him. If you go there tell him John from the Audi sent you. He'll know who I am. And my first, wrong instinct was to think a corporation like Safelite in Midway, over an hour away, would best know the ins and outs of my insurance. The first rule should always be: think local, and I neglected my own gut feeling and experience. Because of Safelite's gimmicky and semi-worthless lifetime guarantee on their seal, if you have an older vehicle, they make you do their work for them - any sign of rust under the windshield, and they send you to an auto-body shop, to treat the windshield's rust, while Safelite swaps it out there, before and after the work. But that Safelite made such a determination, after I'd driven a long way to them for an appointment, for nothing, has worked out for me, because they brought me to Mauldin's - trying my first auto-body place in my new hometown area of Perry.  When the Safelite guy arrived, very late, to remove the windshield, he was already giving attitude about his expectations of the process to Steve at Mauldin's. Once the windshield was off, Steve and I could see no significant rust except for on 2 mm hole, that the Safelight guy was ridiculously calling for to be welded. Steve is I-CAR certified, with 40 years experience doing this stuff, and knows a whole lot more than that young punk. He gave me a knowing glance: telling me I'm a local customer in our community; don't let this corporate punk snowjob you with b.s. about rust that isn't there. The Safelite guy actually drove off mad, leaving me with no windshield, stranded! After no Safelite manager resolved this for me, I told my insurance I wanted to stick with those who had stuck up for me, and treated me right, and it was Steve and Kim who fixed me up with a new windshield, properly installed, of course, faster than promised. And they arranged for me to get a couple of lifts, knowing I was without a drivable vehicle. They are the best - good people, and highly ethical. Bonus, Waylon on the premises is just the sweetest dog you'll ever encounter, if he's still there and I haven't yet dognapped him!

I did not get a recording when I called asking me to press a number, I was not told I had to have an appointment to come get an estimate or that I needed to pay a deposit, and I was treated kindly. The price was lower than one of the other local places I called, so I decided to bring my car here. I paid for the parts in advance upon their suggestion for a faster repair, but it was not required. It did cut down on the waiting period. After providing an estimate on the repair, Jeff noticed a piece of plastic loose on the front bumper. He didn't know if I would be returning to get the repair or not, but he secured it temporarily for me without me asking. When I dropped it off for the repair, it was finished in less than a day. I was having the front bumper replaced and painted. When I went to pick it up, I was astonished and really touched. He had not only done an amazing job on the repair (not one noticeable piece out of place), but he had washed the car and polished my headlights. I was so full of gratitude. As long as they are in business, I will not go anywhere else. They made my 11 year car look new! The shop is very small, and when you pull up to the front (it's a little hard to find because it is not well marked and is off of a side street) it doesn't seem like a body shop. There is a little office door. You can just pull up on the sidewalk or on the street and walk right up, and you will be greeted. They don't seem to have much of a waiting area. You can walk to railroad square from there to kill time, but you would be better off having someone help you drop the car off. Please support this local business!
