I took my 1998 Corvette to Imperial Autobody because they had done some insurance work on my new Volvo and I was very pleased with the results and the service. Unfortunately the second time was less than satisfactory. During the estimate for a paint touch up of my of the Corvette, I stressed several times that I wanted all scratches that could not be buffed out to be filled and repainted. To prepare an accurate estimate they took extensive pictures of each part of the car that needed attention. These pictures included a picture of the driver's side door and the sill of the driver's side door jamb, which was obviously scratched. I pointed these scratches out to be sure a picture was taken. While the estimate was high, I felt that of they did a good job, it would be worth it. While they were doing the work, I was called and told that the rear bumper had to be repainted and this repainting work was not in the original estimate. I was mildly upset because I believed that the estimate would, and should, reflect what the total job was actually going to cost. They were late finishing the work but offered, because of the delay, to reduce the charge for the additional cost of the bumper painting, which I thought was fair. When I picked up the car after the work had been completed, I could not check out the paint job because the car was delivered outside in a pouring rain. When I was later able to examine the work I found that most of it was competent. The paint color match was good in many areas but might have been better in others. It almost looked two people painted the car at different times. But this was within acceptable limits. What was not fixed were deep scratches on the driver's side door and the sill of the driver's side door jamb. Some of these could have been easily buffed out but others were deep enough to require filling and re-painting. I was told these scratches were "not in the original estimate" (which was several pages long) and they refused to repair them unless I paid them additional money. As a result I cannot recommend taking any automobile that you care about, to Imperial Autobody for repair. read more

I brought my car here after it had been scratched by someone who had shoveled my car out of the snow. The scratches extended from my trunk and driver side doors to the front driver side panel. I was EXTREMELY nervous about how the paint job/color match would turn out since my car is a unique color. When Imperial returned my car to me, I couldn't even tell where my car had been scratched or where it had been repainted. I was really impressed. It has been a couple of months since the paint job and I still sometimes find myself trying to find where my car was scratched. It's that good of a job! read more

I was anxious that an auto body repair via insurance will be a nightmare when I drove to this repair shop. Patricia greeted me with a smile and gave a form to fill out. She was calm and friendly, responsive and even called the rental car to check my reservation. She checked the damage on the car and was gracious. She told me that the car rental will pick me up in 40 mins. Joe, the owner overheard this and told Patricia that he will call the Hertz Manager to get someone right away so I don't have to wait so long. When Joe cannot reach the Manager, he said to me, "I will get one of my guys to drive you there, Sir." as he walk out to get some one to get a car ready. I was out, in the car on the way to the rental place in 3 mins. The staff who drove me to Hertz, Angel, is a cool guy and we got to chat about where I was from. Upon learning that I was from the Philippines, he asked about my family after the super typhoon. he also told me that he and his fellow friends are planning a party to raise funds for the people affected in the Philippines. A testament that he does not only repair cars, he has a sense of community outside work. I received a call back from Joe on THU regarding the parts ordered to follow uo. The car was supposed to be done Monday at noon. I received a call letting me know one spare part came in wrong, so it may take a few more hours. I was told that Imperial Auto will drive the car to my place. I was impressed. Andre drove the car to my place and parked my car in front of the building. I have never seen such responsive, customer service focused establishment which made this stressful situation a smooth process. No one ever showed any apathy towards me, but friendliness and swift response. I want to thank you all for the superb service and amazing values you have on this field. Now if the DMV people can go over there and shadow for a week, it will be sweet. read more

I came to Imperial Autobody after receiving a $5700 estimate from another shop for work on my 2004 Toyota Matrix. Imagine my shock when the estimate from Imperial Autobody was $1300 for the same work! I got my car back a couple of days ago and it runs like it's brand new. I couldn't be more happy with the work done. I also have to give the front office and the mechanic I spoke to over the phone a lot of credit. I had a lot of questions and spent a lot of time talking over the different options for the repair work. The staff was really honest and helpful throughout the process. I chose Imperial for a rear bumper repair on my Mazda CX-5 based on their stellar reviews. Even did so despite their 30+ minute distance from my home. Boy did I make a great choice. Every step of the way they were clear, professional, and quick. Scheduling was easy, repair was done in no time, and I was kept fully informed of status and decision-making throughout. And where the other parties failed, Imperial stepped up. When Enterprise didn't deliver my rental as promised, the kind woman at the desk (sadly missed her name) made sure I had an immediate ride straight to the Enterprise office. When Geico tried to cheap out with poor-fitting parts and potentially unsafe corner-cutting, Joe both got me the right stuff and went to bat on my behalf. When insurance slowed down the process, Joe and his team did everything in their power to speed it up. And when child care made final pickup a serious challenge, Kevin went out of his way to get me my car the same day it was done. Glad I trusted them with this work. Imperial Auto Body of DC has renewed my faith in auto repair - they have kind and professional staff that have a keen understanding of what you and your car need. Example: the situation I was in was not pleasant - usually, having to take your car in isn't the most pleasant situation. For me, my brave little Toyota Corolla was a dented, but drive-able, wreck that insurance was in a battle with another insurance company over who-was-going-to-pay-to-fix-it. For the time being, since I stupidly did not get collision insurance (oh, you better believe I have it now) the poor schmuck who would have to pay to fix my dented quarter panel would be me unless I wanted to wait until WMATA's insurance adjusters finally returned the phone calls of my insurance adjuster (which hasn't been happening). Joe gave me the bad news that the initial estimate (which I had asked for earlier based upon a superficial survey of the vehicle) was too low because the damage was too great: I could either spend $4k to fix the car or, as he recommended, trade it in for a new one. Now, Joe and Imperial Auto would earn nothing if I took the second option--which turned out to be the best for me, but he still recommended it, they still put my car back together, and had it ready for pick up the next day - I only wish I could find a way to repay their kindness and honesty (I hope this post helps). read more

A few weeks ago I noticed that my passenger side door would not open due to a dent making the for panel and tire hub panel overlap. I stopped in to Imperial on the way home from work to see if they could do anything to help. PS. This was my first time ever using this company. This place was recommended by my insurance company and they were fantastic. The day I went in for a quote they told me I could just leave it there then and the rental car company would come right over and pick me up. Within the hour, or less, I was in a rental back in the city at work. Picked it up earlier this evening, 3 days and I was all fixed and then some. I'm very impressed with Imperial Auto Body. My 20-year-old car was hit while parked on a residential street and had thousands of dollars worth of damage. I was afraid they would declare it totaled. But once I mentioned to my insurance company's adjuster that I was willing to use after-market parts, my adjuster contacted Imperial and they started work immediately. I appreciated their willingness to work with me to find parts that were less expensive so the work cost less and did not reach the 75% threshold of value for my car to be declared totaled. Imperial finished ahead of time and under budget and kept me informed of what they were doing throughout the process. The car looks great and I'm so happy to be driving it again. Moreover, I appreciated that no one I spoke to was condescending or dismissive to me, a female driver. The facility is clean, the indoor employees were all masked, everyone I encountered was friendly and they even cleaned my car before I picked it up. I hope to not have to use Imperial's services again but I know where I will go if my car needs any body work in the future. read more

This is a great place. I have been there twice. Once for an insurance claim and once where it was on my dime. On both occasions, Imperial did a great job in a timely way. They are friendly and easy to deal with. Just dropped the car off for an estimate, received a call with the number a couple of hours later, gave the go ahead and that was it. My car was damaged in the hail storm a few weeks ago. Imperial Autobody was highly recommended by friends. I am so glad that I listened to them, because they did an awesome job in removing the dents on the roof, trunk, and side panels. The hood had to be replaced and painted over. I was very nervous that the new hood and paint job would be noticeable, so when they returned my car I was extremely happy to see my car as if the hail damage never occurred. WARNING: this place tried to seriously rip me off!!!! I have no idea how they have gotten so many five stars unless people just don't check prices elsewhere. I almost never give a review on Yelp, but had to this time. I got the most minor ding on my aunt's car on the back fender and wanted to fix it before giving it back to her. I was told it would cost me around $1300 and that it would require getting a whole new part and that it was impossible to bang out the ding because of the special material Subaru uses. That sounded weird to me. Why would Subaru use such a failing material on their bumper that couldn't be banged out? I asked several times if the guy was sure since the dent was so minor. I brought it to a second place where the guy said they could replace it new for $775, or that they could bang it out for $475. OK, much better. Then took it to a third place which said they could bang it out it for $275 with painting, which is around what I had expected, and a day later, it's absolutely perfect looking without a trace of the ding. Not even a the slightest hint of anything (it's almost too clean looking now so my aunt might get suspicious). So Imperial may normally might do a good job and be fair, but absolutely not in my case. I am still bewildered and disgusted by their brazenness of how much more they tried to upcharge me. Maybe it was just one employee who looked at my car who was clueless, but they should be ashamed. read more

I got in a wreck over 2 years ago with damages that were mostly cosmetic and I didn't actually need to fix to be able to drive. My car was fixed faster than expected, they were incredibly transparent about timelines, expectations, costs, and handling of my insurance. I felt very comfortable in the shop with COVID precautions, and each person I interacted with was welcoming. Imperial Auto Body definitely gets my recommendation. I called them at about 4pm on a Tuesday. They let me know they could see me that same day so I stopped in. Luckily they had a lift available to check out my car. The staff was really nice. The service was fast, even though I was just happy to be seen. I told them no rush. I was willing to wait my turn. I was in and out in 30 minutes. It's a big shop so there's more of a chance to have the work completed quickly. I was brought in to the bay to view my vehicle multiple times along the way so there was full transparency in the work being done.
