Great news: They matched the lowest price I found anywhere, local or online. Bad news: The printing isn't so sharp. You can see dots, like a newspaper. Small print has jaggy edges. They took a TIFF and ran it through Quark to print it - which reprocessed the image and reduced the quality. Great news: They found a mistake in my artwork and called me to tell me about it! That's great service. Bad news: They had already called me once that day, to tell me the artwork looked great, and to get my go-ahead to start printing. Then they printed 100 discs, then they found the mistake. They decided to charge me $90 for the 100 useless discs. Great news: They spend a lot of personal time with you, getting to know you, your job and your needs. Interactions are relaxed and informal. Bad news: Just because I'm younger than you, doesn't mean you can talk to me like I'm your son. Howard argued with me, over-talked me, and was beyond condescending. He interrupted me several times to say "This is about accepting responsibility" - when in fact Imperial accepts none, for a mistake they should be partly responsible for. They asked me to pay their cost for the bad discs - pay for the discs, pay for the ink. They accept no responsibility for telling me the artwork was perfect, when it wasn't. I have worked for duplication places in the past, and I have been on the other side of this same situation. If this had happened at one of my companies, we would have eaten the cost or split it with the customer, sharing equal responsibility. Pros: Friendly service, unbeatable price, fast turnaround. Cons: Sub-par print quality, hypocritical lecture. EDIT: To the reviewer who called out my criticism of the print quality, saying degraded quality is a consequence of thermal printing: you don't know what you're talking about. You can get fantastic quality from thermal printers, I operated one for 2 years. If you print from Photoshop, you'll get great results. Howard told me he was printing from QUARK XPRESS - 10 year-old layout software that uses a proxy image - a low-res copy of your graphic. That's amateur hour. That's where the jaggies come from, not from the thermal print. read more

DVD copies? Check. Good art work? Check. Great turn-around. Check, check, check! You drive up, thinking you're going to someone's house, and you're not. They're a business. Although, you may want to put a sign outside saying, "Hey, you're here!" That was a bit annoying. You have to grab a parking pass to park. So, you park. Get a pass, then go back to your car, then back to the business. Umm...that's annoying too. I had a somewhat awkward art session with one of their art guys. The meeting (which was priced fairly, $60 for about 30 minutes) made me feel uncomfortable. I was "cut off" when asking a question. He took phone calls, during our session - even stopped our session to google something for someone over the phone. That's sloppy customer service. Then, at the end, he asked me to "name a price" for the session. I was put under pressure and it made me feel uncomfortable. Sorry, this makes me knock off a star. The secretary was nice. She was very helpful. Quality is solid. And, like I mentioned before, EXCELLENT score on getting me my DVD's in less than 48 hours. Wow. read more

I got an urgent request from work to print one-off DVDs for a pitch and Imperial Media Services was the only one that was able to take my order, and they were in the area too! Howard and his team were amazing. They were so gracious, dealt with my crazy since I was under the gun and got everything done in advance of my deadline on the same day. Professional, quick, and filled in the blanks for me when I wasn't able to provide a proper answer (things like what rollover states do I want, things you don't think about if you don't create DVDs all the time). Our production company has been using Imperial Media Services for a while now and I don't think that we would want to go anywhere else. They are fast, efficient, and observant of their work. They always call us after placing the order to make sure that we gave them all of the correct materials. For the user below who complained about jagged edges on the DVD - one should know going in that short runs are not going to use silk-screening for DVDs, rather it's a thermal printing process, and that's not Imperial's issue. Of all the duplication houses I've worked with or even considered for both music and film, Imperial Media offers the BEST prices and BEST customer service. They've completed three projects for me thus far (Duplicating DVDs and Blu-Rays including packaging), and all have been flawless. My first call to them was with a rush order, and not only did they have better pricing than anyone else I called, they were willing to accommodate my crazy schedule without any added fees. The location is in a residential neighborhood where parking is scarce. To make it easy on customers, an Imperial Media representative will bring a temporary parking pass to your car so you can park right in front without getting a ticket! Now THAT is service. If you've ever done a web search for DVD Duplication, you that there are a ton of "disc farms" that promise amazing rates, blazing fast turnaround, and top notch customer service. And if you have experience with dub houses, you also know that most don't deliver what they promise. I wanted to get some DVDs dubbed, a relatively small run, and went on the search for a local operation, in the interest of supporting my neighborhood businesses. What I found was Imperial Media, who happened to be local but who also services customers worldwide. WHAT AN AMAZING FIND! What struck me most was their communication. When there was a small technical question pertaining to adding data files to a playable DVD, the owner called me directly to make sure he understood my request. We spoke several times and I was so impressed by how responsive and attentive he and his staff were. That's so hard to find these days, especially among online merchants. In the digital overload of just about everything, it's really quite something to encounter, not just humans, but NICE humans who are willing to guide you through a process you would otherwise get lost in. The fact that I found them through a friend, where I said, "Oh, I've never heard of them," just makes me laugh now-- because the company has been around for 30 years! And does work for Warner and Rhino Records -- and they spend all sorts of time making sure you leave with not only what you want, but what you need. They'll recommend holding off on a production step if it seems premature, even if it means that they'll be waiting on an order from you. There's only one word that can describe Imperial Media: OUTSTANDING!! Their facilities and knowledge are top notch but they pale in comparison to their customer service. Genuinely good people. I was in a real bind and needed service at the end of the business day. Howard had me come over and he took care of all of my needs: designing disc face artwork, fading out the audio on my .mov file, and transcoding my quicktime file (.mov) into MPEG II and .AC3 audio files. He then authored a DVD and duplicated 10 copies and printed thermal hi resolution images on each disk face. His services went far and above what I was expecting and he's a real pro.
