What can I say about LAX that hasn't already been said?…read more The Los Angeles International Airport is the largest airport in the region with the most flight options due to the number of airlines/routes. It also tends to offer lower priced domestic and international tickets, in most cases. For this reason, there is always a high volume of people who pass through LAX on a daily basis. So, plan accordingly! Although I have arrived less than 2 hours before departure to an international flight, I do not recommend it. Sometimes I've barely made it to my flight due to long TSA lines. If you plan to dine/shop at LAX, give yourself an additional couple of hours. Service is not always timely, so you don't want to be stuck waiting to close out a check or waiting in line to be rung up. Lastly, keep in mind that some dining/shopping options might be available in a specific terminal or in arrivals or departures and you can't easily go in between these areas. All in all, LAX is a powerhouse and with it comes good and bad. Keep your expectations realistic and give yourself more time than you think you'll need in order to have the best possible outcome while you're here. Happy travels!

If you have the choice, I would fly out of Burbank, Ontario or Long Beach. The wait times for TSA are really long and super strict. Make sure you check the TSA guidelines to ensure items you bring are allowed on your carry-on bag. Empty water bottles are allowed. You can fill them up after getting checked by TSA. There are refill stations near the bathrooms. I would avoid buying the food at the airport since it's so expensive try to pack a snack or have a meal before.

The lines inside are also never too bad. I can count on this airport and it's efficiency. Only downside is that I wish they had more flights or offered better prices. It is always more expensive to fly out of here but it does save you from the headache of LAX. You have to weigh your options and priorities. I am willing to pay a little more out of here at times. I prefer this airport but it will come down to the price and how much more it is. They don't fly out too late due to the houses around. SYOY!

I flew into John Wayne Airport (SNA) during my most recent trip to California. I was staying in…read moreNewport Beach for a few days and it was only natural to try and find a flight that landed here. The location of SNA is ideal if you're staying in the OC - the only other options in the area are SAN and LAX which are both over an hour drive away in either direction. The airport isn't large, but large enough to have several routes passing through it. The aesthetics are fine - not the most modern airport I've been to, and they seem to have a good amount of shops and eateries relative to their size. The rental car counters are super close to the terminal - I can't remember the last time I walked to one from baggage claim. My only real issue with SNA is that because of its size, you will likely be limited in routes. Flying from JFK to SNA was fine, but coming home my only options were connecting flights or a red eye. Neither were ideal, so I planned my itinerary accordingly to fly out of another airport. Overall, SNA is good for what it is, and a great option if you're visiting the Orange County area.

Always knew they had this but never been, so happy we went today. They have planes, helicopters, police cars and trucks, so many cool planes to check out. You can take photos in some of them which is really cool. It was sort of busy and hot so we didn't wait in the lines to do that but. They also have vendors giving out free things, they have an area in the back with the older planes they sell toys and things they also have a food truck. Baby girl got a free Outter pop so nice of them thank you so much, everyone was so friendly and had smiles even though it was hot. Great place to go for a bit bring kids your family and friends. Loved it would def go again, thank you so much for the wonderful experience and seeing all the beautiful planes and aircrafts. Loved it we had a great time. I've flown into the Long Beach Airport - LGB in California [4100 E Donald Douglas Dr] on Wednesday,…read more05/13/26, in the afternoon. The airline that I proceeded with was Southwest Airlines. I utilized this airport because I had a México cruise trip scheduled with Carnival Cruise Lines. Upon arrival, this airport felt unique compared to most airports. Instead of the traditional method of exiting the plane by walking on a jet bridge, passengers had to walk down portable stairs onto the tarmac (paved surface on the airport runway). Then, there was a designated walkway to get inside the airport to pick up luggage from the baggage claim area/carousel. I absolutely adored the gorgeous, open-air conceptual design of the airport. I was met with the fresh Southern California breeze, a plethora of palm trees, and beautiful sunshine from the sky. I also appreciated that this airport was considerably less crowded with individuals. The ease of navigation within the smaller building made a difference in getting in and out. All in all, the entire environment was picturesque, calm, and relaxing. There were a couple of eateries and a convenience store available for the general public. Since I was in the South Concourse, these options included Boathouse on the Bay, Sheldrake Coffee Roasting & Sweet Jill's Bakery, and Travel@Ease Gifts and News. I finally came back to the Long Beach Airport on Tuesday, 05/19/26, around 10:30 AM to travel home. The line with Southwest Airlines was a tad long to drop off luggage. However, the TSA line was very swift at getting people through. I will be flying to and from this airport moving forward anytime I need to travel to the Southern California region.

I was told I needed to pick up one of the big bosses at the Long Beach Airport (LGB). I got where to meet and what time. Basically you can't just hang out at the curb like the old days, you wait off site and then get a call when to pick your passenger up. Wow, this airport is bigger than I thought. I did park and go inside just to check it out and I guess it's a little more polite to meet a big boss at the gate then to just drive up to the curb like some taxi cab. I think this is about the size of the Oakland Airport (OAK), there different gat areas for the airlines and there's different food options as well. Everything from burgers to seafood even. Prices are airport prices that's for sure. I met up easy, since I knew what he looked like, I didn't have to hold up one of those stupid signs with a name on it! He was grateful for me meeting him and said he's gonna take me out to lunch. Sounds good to me. This is a pretty decent airport, everything is super busy down here in SoCal.

When I know I'm flying out of this terminal, I don't think about getting to the airport early. Whereas if it was another terminal I absolutely would. Staff generally are annoyed but not as bad as JFK. They ain't winning awards for customer service but they do explain things pretty well. This time around I flew out of gate 52D. If you're in any of the 52 gates other than A or B, know that you need to get to the 52 gate and then you'll have to chat with a gate agent, scan your boarding pass, then take another bus to your gate. Thats how big LAX is. You need to jump on another 5 minute shuttle ride to get to your gate. The 52 gates aren't world class. It's pretty old. Probably just neglected since most of the flights here are regional / short distance flights. There's flights to Seattle, Bay Area, etc from here. Overall verdict - you could certainly do worse. But for how big it is, I think it's a pretty well oiled machine. And that in of itself earns a 3 star from me.
