This airport is fantastic!!! It's close to the Long Beach Cruise Terminal. It's easy to get in and out of. It's not super busy like LAX. I enjoyed the outdoor seating past security. They had a local swing band playing called Hedge Hog Swing. The Public Affairs Team had a table set up. They were super friendly and knowledgeable. They were giving away some great goodies like magnets, stickers, travel sunscreen, beach balls, and local guides on places to eat. There were five different restaurants available to sit down service restaurants, a Greek restaurant, a Mexican restaurant and a coffee shop with pastries. The shop inside the terminal offered snacks, drinks, and all kinds of different local products. Please see photos below. I would definitely fly into this airport again!

Long Beach Airport is easy. Remember, they deplane from outside and it can be raining or super hot so be prepared. A lot of things have changed in the airport. They have some new restaurants and some of the car rental locations are inside now. LGB is an easy airport to navigate. Thank you!

While I'm down here in SoCal, I figured I might have to have some meetings with the big bosses of my company since it's based down here in SoCal. I was told I needed to pick up one of the big bosses at the Long Beach Airport (LGB). I got where to meet and what time. Basically you can't just hang out at the curb like the old days, you wait off site and then get a call when to pick your passenger up. Wow, this airport is bigger than I thought. I did park and go inside just to check it out and I guess it's a little more polite to meet a big boss at the gate then to just drive up to the curb like some taxi cab. I think this is about the size of the Oakland Airport (OAK), there different gat areas for the airlines and there's different food options as well. Everything from burgers to seafood even. Prices are airport prices that's for sure. I met up easy, since I knew what he looked like, I didn't have to hold up one of those stupid signs with a name on it! He was grateful for me meeting him and said he's gonna take me out to lunch. Sounds good to me. This is a pretty decent airport, everything is super busy down here in SoCal.

I've flown into the Long Beach Airport - LGB in California [4100 E Donald Douglas Dr] on Wednesday, 05/13/26, in the afternoon. The airline that I proceeded with was Southwest Airlines. I utilized this airport because I had a México cruise trip scheduled with Carnival Cruise Lines. Upon arrival, this airport felt unique compared to most airports. Instead of the traditional method of exiting the plane by walking on a jet bridge, passengers had to walk down portable stairs onto the tarmac (paved surface on the airport runway). Then, there was a designated walkway to get inside the airport to pick up luggage from the baggage claim area/carousel. I absolutely adored the gorgeous, open-air conceptual design of the airport. I was met with the fresh Southern California breeze, a plethora of palm trees, and beautiful sunshine from the sky. I also appreciated that this airport was considerably less crowded with individuals. The ease of navigation within the smaller building made a difference in getting in and out. All in all, the entire environment was picturesque, calm, and relaxing. There were a couple of eateries and a convenience store available for the general public. Since I was in the South Concourse, these options included Boathouse on the Bay, Sheldrake Coffee Roasting & Sweet Jill's Bakery, and Travel@Ease Gifts and News. I finally came back to the Long Beach Airport on Tuesday, 05/19/26, around 10:30 AM to travel home. The line with Southwest Airlines was a tad long to drop off luggage. However, the TSA line was very swift at getting people through. I will be flying to and from this airport moving forward anytime I need to travel to the Southern California region.

Love the simplicity and smoothness transitions inside this airport. It is well organized and they have coffee shops inside as well. It is a smaller airport compared to LAX but nothing beats smaller crowds & more relaxed environment before your travel destination.

Small but ample airport. Boarding and off boarding is efficient. Nice weather most of the time. Restaurants are good and expensive. Yet quick meal is ok. Often there are delays. But nice area to sit at for the wait. My favorite airport to transit this far. Not too large that it's overwhelming or too much to walk.

I'm a big fan of this airport. If my destination can be reached through this airport I definitely will choose here first. The layout is great! Love walking up the steps to the airplane. They have refillable water stations inside, some rescans food places, gift shops and coffee shops/stands. Love it! You can rent a car quickly or park your can nearby over night. Such a convenient and awesome airport. Can't wait to see the upgrades.

Note that car rental counters have moved into the historic terminal building as of December 2025. Check out the stately, historic Art Moderne facility even if you're not renting a car. They've restored the tile artwork inset into the floors and did a great job. It's so peaceful now that it's hard to picture this having hosted those very busy, jam-packed airline check-in counters back in the day. LGB just keeps getting better and better. I love this airport!

Still a great small airport to go. Was here to pick up family members. Easy and convenient waiting parking and easy getting in and out without any hassle.

This is still a marvelous place to fly out and into. If flying into LGB, you can sit at either end of the flight because you're de boarded on both sides immediately. If it's raining when you're here, cut through the restaurants to avoid the rain when walking to your gate. Checking through TSA is one of the smoothest things ever. Even when I was stopped, it took 4 minutes total. It is rather chaotic when it's boarding time as the airport is small so it gets crowded. It's still worth it here since the passengers here are much more friendly compared to LAX.

There is a sitting area behind the sign. It has a zen like garden feeling.

Long Beach Airport is one of the most convenient airports in Southern California. Its location makes it a perfect midpoint between Los Angeles and Orange County, which is especially helpful for travelers trying to avoid the heavier traffic and congestion of larger airports. The airport itself is refreshingly easy to navigate and never feels overwhelmingly busy, making the overall travel experience much more relaxed. They have many charging ports for your devices which is so convenient. Despite being smaller, it still offers a solid selection of restaurants and food options, so you won't feel limited while waiting for your flight. Overall, Long Beach Airport strikes a great balance between efficiency, comfort, and convenience.

I can see why this is considered one of the coolest airports. It's a smaller airport, so you actually exit the plane directly onto the tarmac. Surprisingly, that gives it a level of intimacy and charm that larger airports just don't have. The one thing that cost them a star was the assistance for wheelchair passengers. There was a long line of people waiting, and it took a very long time for anyone to help them. At one point, we even had to advocate for the waiting passengers to get the staff's attention. Other than that, the rental car process was super quick and easy both when departing and returning. Baggage claim is small but efficient, and there are some really nice seating areas along with a wide variety of food options.

Ask the Community - Long Beach Airport - LGB

Curbside wheelchair assist, I have an injury and need to be met at curbside to go to checkin, thru TSA, to the gate and on the plane. How does this work? The airlines say go inside for this but thats not physically possible. Thanks for information.

Not sure if the airport manages this Yelp page or if anyone with experience would answer in time for your journey, so please call the airport for timely information.

What time does security open in the morning?

LGB and all other TSA Facilities open at 4a.

Does Long Beach airport have fast food restaurant?

Hi! They have a couple of different food options, bars and some quick grab type places but I don't think they have any fast food restaurants inside the airport.

I read that Uber/Lyft has a fee charged to them. Will I be able to get an Uber/Lyft ride from Long Beach Airport?

Yes, you will be able to get an Uber/Lyft from LGB. It's very convenient. They have designated areas and you'll see signs curbside. Yes, there's a small surcharge fee (at least for Uber) in your receipt and you'll see it as "LGB Airport surcharge."…

Is there hourly parking anywhere? The website only lists daily rates for all the lots/structures...

Lot A and Lot B. looks like $2/hour

Are passengers with limited mobility asked to climb stairs into the plane or is there a ramp?

There is a steep ramp that they push you up in a manual chair I'll put up a picture

    Is the observation bar closed?

Everything is open back to normal.

Is Long Beach Airport Parking Lot B closed permanently (that is what it says on my Apple maps app)? If so, is Parking Lot A large enough? Seems that one cannot reserve ahead of time, so if A is full and B is closed, what other options exist?

Hi there, Parking Structure B is fully open and operational. Both of our ultra-convenient parking lots are a short walk to the historic terminal. No reservations are required and there is ample parking available.…

Is there long term parking at LB airport? Roughly, how much per day/night?

Both of our ultra-convenient parking lots are a short walk to the historic terminal. No reservations are required for parking for less than 30 days and there is ample parking available.…

How early do I check-in at Long Beach Airport now?

Give yourself an absolute minimum 60 minutes prior to take off time.

What's the difference between parking lot A & B besides a $2 extra cost a day for long term parking? We are traveling with 2 small children, car seats, luggage, and leaving it overnight for 4 nights. Would prefer covered parking. TIA!

Hi. The only difference besides $2.00 is the distance apart from one another. The decision comes down to the walk from the garage to the gates.…

What airlines fly out of Long Beach airport?

They currently offer flights from Southwest, Hawaiian, Delta, and American Airlines. You can check their website for current updates and flight routes.

How big is this airport compared to Burbank?

About same size, perhaps slightly bigger yet not by much.

How long do I have to park my car at the parking garage, when I'm on vacation?

Can you have just ice in a water bottle?

You can fill your water bottle after going through TSA. You are suppose to have empty water bottles. Since the ice can melt while waiting in line it would be best to fill up after. They have free filtered water stations as well for this purpose by…

Do I need to make reservations to park at the airport lot A or B?

No you can just go and park wherever there's a spot,

Any restaurants at airport before passing security so I can eat with family?

No, there are no restaurants before passing security. The airport is very small and there's just a little bit of food AFTER security. You'd might want to eat somewhere else in Long Beach before heading to the airport!

Where's the restrooms for the "cell phone waiting area"?

    No restrooms

Does anyone know what ID we have to use to fly domestic?can I still just use my regular CADL? I'll be traveling in August. I went to the website but couldn't find info.…

From CA DMV site: 8. Can I use my current California driver license or ID card to board a domestic flight?…

Does LGB have purified water stations where I can fill up my water bottles after going through security?

Yep! They have a convenient water filling station located by the restrooms near the Southwest and Jet Blue terminals. I would imagine it's purified for drinking standards. I fill up there every time before my fights.

Kid had a rough time & was crying on the plane due to skin infection but I was able to cope through the 4 hour 40 min flight by comforting him at the front of the cabin and we also stayed in the restroom for some time. First class passengers were accommodating for the most part and we had staff that helped with bandages and drinks. Overall the plane ride was good -- service was OK -- and I'm so thankful my family landed safely after enduring 2 hours of a tearful toddler feeling miserable on the flight. At least we had some quiet time for the other 3 hours while he slept from crying too much. Phew - just relieved the entire episode is over.
