They do not answer the phone, their website for members is unstable, and their quality of service is extremely low.

I was standing inside…read morenear the entrance looking at a purse when she approached me and, in a nasty tone, said "we close at 4." I checked my watch and told her I still had 8 minutes, then continued browsing. She immediately followed up in an angry tone with, "Seven minutes!" I fully intended to leave by 4. She eventually walked away, and I continued looking around. A moment later, I heard her loudly say "We've been here all day!" and I noticed her speaking about me with her two coworkers while they all stared in my direction. I approached the counter and asked for her manager's name. She gave it to me, and when I said I would be speaking to the manager about her behavior, she again responded angrily, saying " I'll make sure to let her know." For a shop that claims to be a charity benefiting domestic violence victims, the attitude displayed by its staff does not reflect the mission they promote. I am a long time La Grange resident, and I've both donated and purchased items here over the years, but after this experience, I will no longer be patronizing this establishment.

What a GEM! This is a resale shop that is organized by color and by size. But the best part about…read moreHope Chest is that all proceeds go towards survivors of domestic violence/abuse. They have a great selection of jewelry and even have some designer pieces (Tiffany) in a case by the register. There is a specific rack for vintage pieces ( but nothing there is priced?!) The gals working were lovely and seemed happy to be working! They have daily specials which I imagine moves their inventory quickly. Their prices are moderate to begin so having a deal on top is a bonus!

VFW Post 2801 - Fish fry on Fridays for lent, packs them in.

This place is anything but cranky old men complaining about the war. My first experience here was completely surprising. I came for the Friday fish fry with my father and the nugget, who was a baby at the time. During Lent, this place is PACKED with people on Friday nights. I could not believe it. While waiting for my fish to arrive, I got a glass of wine at the bar. I thought I misheard the price...nope I didn't...it was soooo cheap compared to a bar or restaurant. After I bit into a nice meaty piece of fried fish, I was hooked (buh duh cha). The fish fry continues all year long...not just during Lent. Don't like fish, no problem. They have Italian Beef sandwiches, hot dogs, and fried shrimp. The price of your meal also includes coffee, and cake for dessert. You can't go wrong. Don't forget to bring some cash for the raffles. They usually do a 50/50 raffle, and some other thing. For Valentine's Day there was a delicious pork dinner and a band. For St. Paddy's they do a corned beef dinner. High suggested! Tuesday is Bingo and Thursday is wing night. There is almost always something going on here. Check it out!

Guardians and parents are speechless at the lack of care and leadership that is provided to the clients. I won't talk about the "good old days" but now? It is an operation with heavy emphasis on management and not enough workers. It's a tough job for workers and they rarely stay because the pay is low and demands are high. State funding is inadequate, but no visible signs to alleviate the top-heavy organization are apparent. The saddest part is that as the guardians and parents grow older and are unable to care for their family member (yes, they are special needs and have been given no voice or ability to express their opinion) there aren't any other options. When our family members were born, law firms didn't take on cases that would provide families with financial assistance and put the blame on the doctors and hospitals that were responsible for many of their birth defects like they do now. RGA needs an angel to turn this once stellar organization back into one that is acceptably and efficiently run.
