I checked my watch and told her I still had 8 minutes, then continued browsing. She immediately followed up in an angry tone with, "Seven minutes!" I fully intended to leave by 4. She eventually walked away, and I continued looking around. A moment later, I heard her loudly say "We've been here all day!" and I noticed her speaking about me with her two coworkers while they all stared in my direction. I approached the counter and asked for her manager's name. She gave it to me, and when I said I would be speaking to the manager about her behavior, she again responded angrily, saying " I'll make sure to let her know." For a shop that claims to be a charity benefiting domestic violence victims, the attitude displayed by its staff does not reflect the mission they promote. I am a long time La Grange resident, and I've both donated and purchased items here over the years, but after this experience, I will no longer be patronizing this establishment.

Between the time you call to inquire about the program until the time you successfully graduate from the program you will feel the professionalism, compassion and love. If entered into the program they will partner you with people who will help you with your career, finances, budgeting, education, health and so much more. The amount of volunteers that go out of their way to help others in need are amazing! I highly recommend this program if you need help or want to volunteer and be part of an dynamic organization that is making a difference.

At this point, all required documentation has been submitted, yet the process continues to be unnecessarily delayed with limited clarity on why further time is needed. IMRF should improve processing efficiency and communication so members are not left waiting months after meeting all requirements.

This year we have been asked to move to the foyer or to whatever room may be available as they rely on rentals for these rooms. We agreed and we have been playing where they tell us to go. We pay $2.00 and now are asked to sign in and pay the fee. Additionally, we always were given water and coffee, and are now told that would no longer receive free water or coffee. When several of our members complained about this, a call was made to one of our members that we were rude to their staff, and they are not going to put up with this. I believe The Community House is ignoring the elderly in their community and are actually forcing us out of this venue in favor of younger members. Why else deprive us of free water.

This place is anything but cranky old men complaining about the war. My first experience here was completely surprising. I came for the Friday fish fry with my father and the nugget, who was a baby at the time. During Lent, this place is PACKED with people on Friday nights. I could not believe it. While waiting for my fish to arrive, I got a glass of wine at the bar. I thought I misheard the price...nope I didn't...it was soooo cheap compared to a bar or restaurant. After I bit into a nice meaty piece of fried fish, I was hooked (buh duh cha). The fish fry continues all year long...not just during Lent. Don't like fish, no problem. They have Italian Beef sandwiches, hot dogs, and fried shrimp. The price of your meal also includes coffee, and cake for dessert. You can't go wrong. Don't forget to bring some cash for the raffles. They usually do a 50/50 raffle, and some other thing. For Valentine's Day there was a delicious pork dinner and a band. For St. Paddy's they do a corned beef dinner. High suggested! They have a wide variety of items from fine jewelry to the most eclectic goods. From the outside you wouldn't expect it to be as large as it is, but it does span through multiple rooms. Many areas/rooms have themes like holiday, clearance, collectibles, household goods. It is very well organized. Store is pretty strict on "no large bag/backpack" policy but all employees were very friendly and respectful carrying it out. This place is not at all overpriced and you can certainly find some affordable gems without looking too hard.
