We got hit with a supplemental property tax assessment when we refinanced our investment property for a lower interest rate. The escrow company erred and listed a different type of ownership on the new deed. A year later, the tax assessor charged us as if we newly purchased the property. Calls to the tax assessor asked us for 10 years of IRS returns to start to correct it. We only had 6 years that we could find. We were denied a reversal. The increase in property tax stood.
