I called In-Style salon to ask if they take walk ins. They were able to set me up with an appointment only an hour later. Everyone was very pleasant and friendly. The ladies working in the salon are lively and talkative, which I love, they seem happy to be there. I hadn't had my hair cut in over a year, oops lol. My hair was very long, down to my waist. The salon itself is so clean and well managed. They took me in and started the process. All the girls there were so friendly and professional. I loved the way my hair came out. I went to this salon because the reviews were raving, but I had anything but a good experience here. The man at the front desk was lovely, but the woman had a ridiculous attitude. Snarky and unprofessional when I checked in and out. Then, the person doing my hair changed 3 times on me. I have absolutely no idea why. I asked for a full brown dye and wound up with black hair. I did NOT want my hair this dark, and I knew the girl messed up when the friendly man told her to give me a free deep conditioning treatment. The blow out was subpar as well. I cannot believe I now have black hair and BLACK DYE ALL OVER MY EARS!!!!!! See the photo. I have some black dye on my face as well, perfect for thanksgiving. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. The prices are great but it's obviously for poor service. read more

For hair cuts I usually get whoever is available and I've never had a bad experience. All the Stylists do a great job. Price wise they are a great value, for both hair cut and color. I have a hair stylist I love for when I get my hair colored but I needed a hair cut for between my color appointments and wanted to find a place close to home for that. The reviews looked good and so did the price for a wash cut and blow, it was $44. Valarie did my hair and did a wonderful job! She suggested some layers and did a nice blow out. I was in and out within 30 minutes. I would go back for my in between hair appointments when I need a hair cut! read more

This is my second time going here and i can honestly say i love it... the staff is all very attentive, caring and personable. Anna is amazing and has brought my hair back to life. I had been putting it off for years and using box dye and destroyed my hair but she brought it back to life and it looks amazing. She takes her time and makes sure that she everything is perfect!!! I have never written a bad review online, but I've got to help other "Bride-to-be's" My fiancé and I are getting married in April and I had been searching for a salon with decent prices and great reviews that would be available for a hair and makeup trial while I was in town for my bridal shower (I live in Virginia and was only in town for 2 days). I called about 2 weeks prior to my shower date to make the trial appt. I drove through a massive snow storm and reached NY the day before the shower, I spoke with a gentleman the day before who called to confirm my hair and makeup appointment. When I had made the appt, they recommended I come in at 8:30am, so I could have 2 hours for both hair and makeup. I arrived with a picture of the hairstyle I wanted as well as makeup. The stylist I showed the hair picture to said "I've got to get [another stylist] to help because I'm not so good at braids" - sign one that "In Style Salon" was not a good choice. Almost immediately preceding the hair ineptitude, the gentleman whom CONFIRMED my hair and makeup appt the day before, then came and told me that he had NO ONE to do my makeup. Mind you, I just arrived from Virginia (the day before) and did not bring any of my makeup brushes because I had a CONFIRMED my hair/makeup appointment with In-Style. Also, this gentleman insinuated that it was MY fault he did not have anyone for makeup, when I challenged him on his insinuation, he then admitted "Well, she just couldn't make it in". I suppose it's too difficult to let your customer know BEFORE she is sitting in front of the mirror at the salon?!? I'm sorry In Style, that is NOT good enough. I got back to brothers house with 20 minutes to do MY OWN HAIR AND MAKEUP, along with 3 kids, my brother and his wife and my fiancé. I will never use InStyle Salon in West Islip again and recommend that no one else rely on them, either. God willing, you only get one bridal shower and one wedding- Don't let them ruin it for you too!! So much for feeling like a glamorous bride-to-be :( February 2013 read more
