I felt compelled to write a review that shed light on what a great salon Vanity Square is. Like the previous poster, I too went to VSS to get my hair done for my wedding as did all of my bridesmaids and a few family members. Sebastiano and his team went above and beyond for me and my girls. I had my trial with Charlese who also did my hair on the day of. She did such an amazing job. My hair was exactly what I had asked for, it stayed in allllll day long and to this day (over a year later) people still comment on how gorgeous my hair was. Lara did two of my girls hair. She did a spectacular job in adhering to their requests and the end result was immaculate. All of the other stylist couldn't have been any better. All of my girls looks beyond phenomenal. I was the only one who had their makeup done in the salon and Jill was the one who did it. She was very considerate to my specific desired look. My makeup stayed in place all day and looked so beautiful not only in person but in photographs as well. Since VSS has moved to their new location I have gone for color, cut and blowouts. Their staff of stylist has doubled and the space has tripled. They're prices have stayed the same (which IMO, are pretty comparable to that of the area.... really not too bad) but their service has only gotten better. After my wedding and the service and professionalism that was shown to me and my friends they have gained a new customer. Catherine A.... no disrespect to you, but perhaps your bridesmaids chose "90s style" hairstyles that the stylist had no choice but to emulate at the request of your bridesmaids. And just bc it's your wedding doesn't mean that other customers waiting after you have to be held up due to your lateness. I am sorry to be posting a negative review of Vanity Square, since I have been going there for over 2 years, but the reality of what happened there leaves me no choice. In mid April, I took a friend there for a haircut. On the way out, she fell on the unmarked step leading to the parking lot. She was diagnosed with two spinal fractures and ended up in the hospital and in rehab for almost 2 months. As a result, she is now wearing a brace and using a walker. I approached the owner of the salon on three occasions to request that he mark the stair with a painted stripe or marker to make is safer for other patrons. On all three occasions, I was brushed off and nothing was done. When I realized that the owner was not going to do anything, I called the Islip Fire Marshall. A report was filed that there was no illegal code violation. The Fire Marshall was willing to make another trip to Vanity Square to personally request that the owner mark the step. When I called Vanity Square today to change the day of my appointment I was told that I am no longer welcome there! I am angered by the way the owner has decided to handle this and to ignore repeated requests to make a dangerous situation safer to everyone. I know that others have fallen there so I just want to let people know how this was dealt with. read more

If she looks beautiful, (which, btw, she always does), then her mission is to make you Gorgeous! She embraces the uniqueness of your hair and gives you not only what YOU want, but she will advise what is the best treatment for your hair as well! I really love this place. I love the high end salon feeling but the wallet friendly pricing and the small-town Main Street locale. I was referred by a friend and couldn't be happier. I have seen several stylists and have never had a problem or doubt with any of their ability. Their new location is much easier to get to than their old location. Beware: My daughter went to Razing Hair to get her hair lightened, she brought in a picture of very…read morelight hair so they could see what she wanted. She unfortunately ended up with mousy brown, grey, mud colored hair. She also came home and all the dark dye was left all around her face and through her roots. She had to plead to have them try and fix it. When she went back they (mainly the owner Chris) were rude and short tempered with her. They even said if you just keep washing it, it will lighten up, which means they only used semi-permanent color. They did blow it out and she was hoping she could live with it, but the next day she was crying that they ruined her hair. I then tried calling the owner to discuss having my daughter get her money back, since she was charged $245 for them to destroy her hair. Chris not only was rude and sassy, to say the least, he hung up on me twice and when he finally calmed down and would talk and not scream at me, he said he is sure the only reason my daughter hated her hair was because I told her she looked terrible and then of course he hung up. Even though I was completely disgusted by his comments, I called Razing Hair back to try one more time to rationalize with Chris, but he wouldn't get on the phone, however, when he finally called me back he said he searched and found a picture of my daughter on social media that looked like she loved her hair after it was fixed and he also went on to say that if I continued to call him about this issue he would call my place of work and get me fired for harassment. After all this, the terrible job they did on my daughter's hair and the way we were both spoken to, Chris, the owner actually dared to threaten my livelihood just so he didn't have to do the right thing as a business owner and reimburse an 18 year old, so she could go somewhere else to get her hair fixed. He even continued to say that the last person who tried this he (Chris) actually made sure they got fired from their job. I am flabbergasted that he even has clients. If you want light blond hair, without muddy ash, then Razing Hair is not the place for you. There are numerous talented hairdressers in the towns around where they are located and I suggest you try those, so you can avoid such a horrible experience with a person like Chris, and you will also avoid having him threaten getting you fired from your job just because you are not satisfied with the job they do on your hair. The most ironic part is his website states that they have a 100% satisfaction guaranteed!! Guess that is a lie!!

The only question asked was if I'd been there before, nothing about my hair length or thickness. I arrived at 10:30am, confirmed I just wanted a wash and blowout, and mentioned it was for a special occasion and I wanted a quick blowout to save time doing it myself. The wash lasted maybe 3 minutes with no detangling, and my hair went straight from soaking wet to a round brush and blow dryer. I showed a photo and asked for a bouncy blowout, but the stylist kept insisting on using a curling iron, which I didn't want. She also kept commenting on my hair's length and thickness. By 11am she had another client waiting and my hair wasn't even halfway done, and it felt like things were rushed from that point on. I eventually just let her use the curling iron so I could leave. She was friendly, but the result was not what I asked for. I ended up going home and curling my hair myself because it definitely didn't look like I had just been to a salon. Overall, a disappointing experience.

They said because they had to use 2 bowls of dye(one bowl would have sufficed, especially between the little gray coverage needed and the amount of product that needed to be removed from my forehead and robe) The 155 dollar price was also after cutting my hair from my mid back to just below my chin PRIOR to the color treatment. I have had my hair colored at another salon in the area when I had much longer hair and the price was always the same regardless of how much product the stylist used. I paid the full price for the services because that is the right thing to do but I will never go back and neither should you.
