As fIrst time Divers in Maui we held nothing back and did the shark dive. We always hesitated doing scuba because we have a large family and it gets expensive fast. On an anniversary trip we set aside any previous excuses and just did it. We had a splendid dive. As first timers we had to first do a "training" dive. We met at the Kahekili Beach Park. We trained in the parking lot and then a short walk into the beach. This was a good foundational dive but again also a lot of scenery. The 2nd dive we met at the Mala Wharf. It was only 10 minutes away. Nestled in an old bridge and broken railroad the ocean-life have claimed this as their home. It was amazing filled with large sharks, turtles and so many species of fish and in great abundance. This was amazing. The instruction paid off. As first time divers we had done "snuba" in the past but this really was our first dive. It did give us comfort but more importantly the instruction from Ty was on the money. If I were to give you any pointers: 1. Pay attention to the instructions. It will come in handy and make for a better dive. 2. Also don't be late. It takes away from the experience of others. If you are late it takes away time from others. 3. Make connections with others. Though I was frustrated for late arrivals we were friends and exchanged numbers and stories by the end. The other party was 10-12 minutes late which came close to them being canned with no refund. It just creates awkwardness. Follow the instructions in the email, follow Ty's instructions in the training and in application and you are guaranteed a good time.

We did two dives at the Mala Boat Ramp in May of 2023. One day with Mike and another with Kevin. Really knowledgeable divers and great instructors. Dive profile was very beginner friendly: 32ft max depth, 45min bottom time, high 70s-80F water temp. We'll be diving with these guys next time we're in Maui. Black Rock night dive next time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JaK6D-vLEI

Refresher Dive

Had a great time taking this refresher course. About 30 minutes of instruction and a 45 minute dive off the shore. Saw nice coral and a bunch of fish (which unfortunately I don't know the name of). The instructor was very helpful and made me feel at ease under da sea!

2 of the 10 turtles we saw at Mala Pier on our dive with Ty of In2Scuba

Just want to give a big thank you to Ty with In2Scuba! My dive partner and I knew we wanted to get some diving in during our vacation to Maui and spent a lot of time looking at companies still operating after the Lahaina fires. After a lot of research we came across In2Scuba who was operating in the area we were staying near Kaanapali. After some back and forth messages with Ty who was always quick to respond and answer any questions we were able to get a good idea of the state of things and what locations would be available to dive with our time schedule. Ty was extremely knowledgeable on all of the dive sites on the west side and current state of things. On the day of the dives we hit Airport Beach first and after a little meet and greet getting all of our gear setup it was dive time. Ty was a great guide pointing out numerous specifics of marine life and giving us a nice tour of the reef. From there we headed to Mala Pier which had been closed down to diving for a while due to the fires. We were Tys first guest back here since the fires and it was our second time diving this site. We saw 8-10 turtles throughout the dive along with numerous fish and marine life but the highlight was easily the 2 white tip reef sharks. Ty knew all of the hiding spots to find everything and we were very respectful of the marine life to not encroach on them but admire from a respectful distance. It was a great day of diving and I highly recommend anyone looking for a personal private style dive guide service to look into Ty and In2Scuba. Will happily be in touch with him next time I'm in Maui!

Nothing more important than safety for our family when we sought a scuba experience at In2Scuba Diving Maui Dive Co. My son took his first dive with Zach, who was exemplary as an instructor. He had such a great time he took a 2nd dive with Zach, and then a 3rd with Kevin and Mike. What a fabulous experience by this team who took great care of him!!!

I had a great dive. Wonderful time! Everyone was very nice and helpful! I absolutely recommend any of my Colorado brethren to use Tyanna's company. It's in the Way to go.

Ty's divers taught my son and his girlfriend at Olowalu, then we all dove Mala Wharf. It was amazing. This was just June 24. I wanted to see In2Scuba was ok and learned the business burned. I found their facebook page, where they put a FareHarbor link (their booking site) for anyone wanting to make a donation to help them. Check it out-- give them a hand if you can. https://www.facebook.com/In2ScubaMaui/ UPDATE 9/4/23: Ty sent me a message that they just made a Spotfund account so you can support them here directly if you like!! http://spot.fund/8j3j7ce

Some of the sea life spotted while diving.

We had a PERFECT experience diving with Ty. He knew the best locations and had high quality equipment. He was very knowledgeable and patient with inexperienced divers. We will definitely dive with him again next time we are in Maui. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Super convenient and great equipment. The owner gave us great tips and ideas on where to go for great sea life. It was so nice that he personally helped us out and felt like a friend! Thanks again! We had so much fun!

I booked this trip specifically because the Lanai Cathedrals page describes both First Cathedral…read moreand Second Cathedral in detail, which reasonably led me to expect dives at both sites. In reality, our group only visited one Cathedral site. The first dive was at a different Lanai location that was not one of the Cathedrals. After the trip, Dive Maui explained that they do not normally conduct dives at both Cathedral sites on the same day and that site selection depends on conditions and the divers onboard. I fully respect the importance of safety and found the crew professional and friendly throughout the trip. My disappointment is with the expectation created by the trip description. Had I known in advance that visiting both Cathedrals was not normally part of the itinerary, I would likely have chosen a different operator. Future divers whose main goal is to see both First Cathedral and Second Cathedral should clarify the expected itinerary before booking and compare the options offered by different Maui dive operators.

Such a unique, wonderful time!! We booked as a private group of 4 for the beginner off-shore diving…read moreexperience, as it was everyone's first time diving. Our instructor Sean was amazing!! Your first scuba experience may feel quite daunting (it was for me!) but your instructor goes over all the equipment, safety measures, and hand signals to know--that you are also required to go over in your online course, so helpful! LEADING UP TO YOUR DIVE: A lot of the prep comes before you even arrive for your dive: the online info courses and waivers (took about 20-35 min) and inputting the height and weight of each diver, so once we were ready to start heading to the beach, Dive Maui quickly got us into our wet suits, and later quickly had us fit for our masks, oxygen tanks, and weights for the vest. The indoor area where they go over the info and where you put on your wet suits also have a bathroom you can use before and after which was helpful to have a place to change afterwards. They don't have lockers or a designated place to leave your stuff, but it did kind of feel safe if you're just leaving a bag of clothes or shoes when you dive; overall, I'd recommend coming with less stuff though unless you have someone to hold your things. THE EXPERIENCE: 10/10 but that is just speaking for me LOL we got to see so much wildlife in their space: so many different kinds of fish, schools of fish cleaning off turtles (we saw around 10 turtles!), we caught to briefly look at 2 sharks chilling on the ocean floor, and saw a flounder fish in the sand. At one point, I was swimming alongside a turtle!! We had someone in our group who was not as strong a swimmer and was more nervous with all the gear so they had a harder time enjoying the experience, but our instructor was really good and intentional with making sure they were okay and walked with them slower through the experience. Otherwise, we overall really enjoyed the experience and have no regrets! It definitely feels like you get to see more of Maui's wildlife beauty in its natural place, as opposed to the more touristy, marketed Hawaii. They recommend all divers be a strong swimmer, to expand on this--as long as you are comfortable maneuvering yourself in the water (would you be able to quickly change direction if you notice you're drifting into coral or , able to swim deeper and manage how deep or shallow you stay in the water--no need to be on a swim team--it is not about speed or being able to literally dive LOL IMPORTANT: our booking did not do shallow water training at a pool or at the shore before going down to practice our skills test (how to blow water out of your mask, practicing what to do when our breather comes out of our mouth, clearing our sinuses, checking our oxygen tanks and responding to our instructor with correct hand signals of our oxygen level). So we knew we were going to practice these skills, but it can definitely be scary since you go 20 feet down and then do the skills. Yes, you need to be a decent swimmer, but I think it's more important you think about if you can stay calm and trust your instructor and the skills they are teaching you--the entire experience of using the gear and being 20-30 feet underwater takes some time to get used to, so make sure you are okay with knowing that you don't get shallow water training and can stay calm and remember to take deep breaths as you get used to breathing through your mouth only and blowing water out when you can't breathe in, rather than panicking. If you are typically able to pick up new skills and can stay calm under pressure, then totally try scuba diving!! Dive Maui will keep you safe! We parked in the nearby lot near the grocery stores. When you register, they give parking suggestions and specify where not to park to make sure you won't get a ticket or get towed parking in private spots. It would be great if they were able to have a photographer or camera to catch a few pics during the experience. Even if they charged for the pictures, that's one I would (and think many people would) pay for! especially since not many people want to bring their phone or have underwater cameras to bring along with them, let alone having to figure out how they want to hold or attach it to their gear with them (not even sure if they allow this)

I scheduled the class a few months in advance, and they even advertised it to recruit another student (after all, you can't rescue yourself!). I learned from the best--Kerri is a true expert in both diving and instruction. He is incredibly patient and explains concepts clearly. He took the time to answer all of our questions and really instilled the importance of dive safety--that anything can happen at any time, and you always need to stay aware, especially in and around the water. We practiced multiple real-life rescue scenarios in the water, which made the training feel practical and incredibly valuable. I learned so many important skills from Kerri--both ones I hope I never have to use and others that I will carry with me on every dive going forward. I look forward to diving with Kerri and the Maui Dreams crew the next time I'm on Maui!

I came back last week to finish my PADI certification with Brent after taking the online classes. He will also take the time to point out many sea creatures during the dives (and will write their names out for you) that you may have never noticed otherwise or may have never seen before! He really is a fantastic guide and his passion for diving is very evident and is a fantastic resource for finding out where the best diving is around Maui. We had such a fantastic time with him that we have booked several subsequent dives and are extremely excited for our next dive. The night dive we did the other day was spectacular! Recent…read moreMaui rains reduced visibility at many sites, but Gu adjusted the plan and guided us to the best possible conditions. That made the difference. These were refresher dives for our group, and Gu handled them exactly right. He quickly assessed each diver's experience, our small group included both newer divers with fewer than ten dives and others with more than 70, but with time since our last dives. His review of fundamentals, safety, and buoyancy control was clear and structured, without slowing the group down. He also reinforced reef etiquette and respect for marine life in a practical, no-nonsense way. This team takes responsible diving seriously. What stood out most was Gu's site knowledge. Not just which sites to choose, but where to position within each site to maximize visibility and encounters. He set expectations on what we might see, spotted eagle rays, green sea turtles, white-tip reef sharks, snowflake moray eels, and more, and then delivered. We saw all of it. With two divers carrying cameras, he was mindful of positioning, and I came away with great shots of eagle rays, reef sharks, and multiple turtles. The highlight was a turtle cleaning station at Mala Wharf, with six turtles active at once and eagle rays passing nearby. It was one of those rare dives where something meaningful is happening in every direction. The attached photo captures that exact moment, multiple turtles gathered at the cleaning station with eagle rays moving through the scene. Operationally, everything was tight: * Strong safety culture and clear briefings * Efficient check-in and gear handling * Well-maintained equipment * Good pacing, no rushing, no wasted time * Attentive in-water supervision without being intrusive * Effective group management for mixed experience levels If you are traveling to Hawaii with limited dive windows, this is the operator you want. They remove uncertainty and maximize your chances of a memorable dive. Highly recommend Extended Horizons, and Gu as your guide.

Phenomenal Dive Experience with Extended Horizons!…read more We booked our scuba diving excursion through The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, and could not have been happier with the experience provided by Extended Horizons. As newly certified divers, we were a bit nervous going into our first post-certification dive, but our Dive Master, Michael, made it an absolutely incredible and comfortable experience from start to finish. Michael was punctual, professional, and incredibly charismatic. He struck the perfect balance between being instructive and encouraging, offering helpful tips to improve our diving without ever making us feel overwhelmed. He really listened to what we were hoping to get out of the dive and tailored the experience to match. We did a two-tank shore entry dive, and it was spectacular. Michael guided us to some amazing marine life--green sea turtles, moray eels, cone snails, sea urchins, and even three stunning green lion fish. His deep knowledge and passion for the ocean were clear throughout, and it made the entire dive even more memorable. We can't recommend Extended Horizons enough--especially if you're a beginner looking for a patient, supportive, and fun dive guide. Thank you, Michael! We'll definitely be back.
