My partner and I did 4 dives (Molokini Backwall, Red Hill, Molokini Crater, Turtle Town) in June with MDS and they were incredible all around. We were lucky enough to have 100+ ft visibility for each dive and some solid recommendations from the captain on the best (and safest) dive spots. The dive masters (John, Josh, Nick) were extremely thorough making sure everyone felt safe and Josh was even kind enough to tinker with my brand new dive computer to make sure I had the right settings. The entire crew was great and extremely friendly. The service was over the top from breakfast, lunch, snacks, towels, cold towels for your face and even someone offering to clean your sunglasses for you. It was above and beyond any other dive boat I've been on. Kudos to the crew at Maui Dive shop. We look forward to diving with you again soon! read more

Had two great dives with Maui Dive Shop yesterday. The boat crew was awesome. Usually I can single out one or two crew members, but honestly the entire crew was great. Very attentive to the divers needs and safety oriented. Both dives , Molokini and Turtle Town, were a lot of fun. Saw plenty of turtles, an octopus, Morey eels, and plenty of topical fish. We also saw a huge Crow-of-thorns Starfish. Plenty of whales and dolphins on the trip to and from the dive sites. Will definitely dive with them again. read more

This was our second time diving from this boat and we had a great time on both trips. The check-in procedure is streamlined and can all be completed online before you arrive. The morning of the dive, the crew met us at the gangway to check our dive cards and confirm our reservations. From there, we were welcomed onto the boat with a hot breakfast, coffee and fresh fruit. The crew took time to engage with us and offer their experiences on the dive. After everyone was checked in, the Captain gave his safety brief and we shoved off for Molokini. While on our way to Molokini, we were divided into dive groups and assigned to a crew member/divemaster. Each group then broke off for their individual dive briefs and to review the dive plan. Introductions and dive experience, then we each had an opportunity to communicate our hopes for the dive. Upon arrival at Molokini, the crew got the boat moored up and us into our gear in an organized and efficient, yet friendly process. With very little delay, we were in the water and descending into the tropical fishtank that is Molokini. Our divemaster, Ernie, kept very good track of our location and air status, yet let us explore on our own as appropriate. As we got to the end of our air at different times, Ernie did a great job of sending up the people who needed to end their dive while allowing those with air remaining to stay down and keep exploring. After about 45 minutes, we were all back on the boat for roll call and more snacks. We departed Molokini quickly and headed for Turtle Town. Upon arriving, we moored and briefed up for our new location and dive. Again, we entered the water quickly and efficiently and descended together. This dive proved more challenging as we experienced a couple of equipment problems, but Ernie did a great job of managing it all and keeping us all exploring. At the end of the dive, we again ascended as needed but those with enough air were allowed to stay down to continue the wonderful dive. The ride back was smooth and uneventful, but the crew got around often to chat about our experiences, offer drinks and even clean our sunglasses. Upon arrival back to the dock, we were debriefed by the Captain and helped off the boat. The crew handled all the gear movement and cleanup. I highly recommend Maka Koa and their entire crew. We will definitely visit them again next time we are in Maui. We plan to try the Molokini back wall dive next time. read more

Booked two different dives on different days in advance and they cancelled both because they simply don't give a damn about you and do what they want with no regard to their customers' valuable vacation time. For one of the trips, they simply decided to sell our seats to someone else who offered them more money - words straight from the mouth of their employee. For the other trip, despite it being confirmed, they didn't want to go out because they wanted more people. Seriously if they're this incompetent at running their business I'm sure you're probably risking your safety going with these guys anyway. What other corners do they cut to pull more profit? Hope their business fails so that more reliable and honest companies who deserve business can do better than this place. read more

You know it's an amazing experience when your 8 year old screams with excitement: "This is the best day of my life!" We booked with Maui Dive Shop, so my husband can dive and our kids (8 and 10 y.o) and I could snorkel. One of the crew members picked us up from our condo in Kihei and took us to the boat. There were about 14 passengers and four crew members - captain Luke, dive master John (who took the divers on dives) and Jake and Mark, who stayed with the snorkelers. They first took us to Molokini craters where both diving and snorkeling were exceptional. We saw a huge variety of fish! Then, we went to Turtle Town where we saw turtles and some more fish. All throughout, the crew members were exceptional and catered to all needs. Grateful for an unforgettable experience! read more

Third time diving with these guys, but first boat trip after a couple shore dives in the last couple years, and definitely worthy of a five star review! We had a fantastic morning yesterday with Captain Gil, Jake, John and Josh. There were about 14 of us diving, and another group of snorkelers. They are extremely organized, friendly, focused on safety, full of personality, and just an overall top notch group. Josh was our dive master and he took the time to answer our questions both before and after our dive. The breakfast burritos were a welcome touch so early in the morning along with nice hot coffee, and the turkey sandwiches were fresh and hit the spot on our way back to the harbor. We saw several whales during our trip, more so than on our actual whale watching trip the week before (LOL). We did the double molokini dive and enjoyed great visibility at the crater and several octopuses. (On our previous shore dives, we also had great experiences first with Marc and then with the other Jake - super laid back and fun dive from Makena Landing not far from our resort.) I always try to find 1-2 things to work on after each dive, and this trip was no different with helpful input from the crew. Their gear was in good shape and you could tell they follow a rigorous step by step process on every trip - changing our tanks, checking our weights, doing roll call after each dive. While there our 12 year old son was able to get his open water certification along with being able to get signed off on getting his scuba diving merit badge with Boy Scouts and another BSA scuba and snorkeling award as well. My son had a great experience and as a parent I couldn't have asked for more, his instructors Kerstin and Jimmy were awesome! On our final boat dive we even got to see a manta ray when diving turtle town. We dove with this dive shop in September, 2021. We would highly recommend them! Their staff and crew were exceptional. They set your gear up for you if you want, and switch your tanks out between dives. This is "huge" for those of us that are "mature" divers and especially if you are feeling sea sick at all. This dive shop was outstanding. All crew members are very helpful, and they offer literally full service. This shop offers pick-up service and we enjoyed communicating with our dive master and the diving members on the way to the port. The ship was enough big and comfortable. They prepared the tasty hot meals and snacks, towels (very helpful!), various drinks, wet towel after lunch. We rented a BCD, and each rental BCD had the customer's name plate (I've never seen this nice service). I appreciate each single warm care, and will definitely come back to this shop. My dive master was Mike who was very knowledgeable and helpful, and the captain was Captain Luke who helped me to wear the mask every time. I can't express enough how happy I was today. read more

Our dive leader was Jess, and she was fantastic. Our dive site was Molokini and backwall, both great locations. Did you know there are no manta rays to see in Maui? Neither did we or the rest of the people who paid a couple of hundred a pop to go on a Manta Ray dive. It's not if manta rays may or may not be there, they are not in this area at all. Not only this, but the wet suits were inappropriate for cold water. Everyone in our tour group was freezing and greatly disappointed. Had we known, we'd have planned a different tour somewhere else. What a waste of time and money for a horrible experience. Everyone in our group decided this is false advertising. This place should not offer this tour at all. read more

This was by far the best dive boat I've ever been on! Noone else comes close. They pick you up where you are staying, they not only have hot coffee on board for you but a full breakfast buffet that includes fresh fruit, muffins and breakfast burritos! The lunch buffet is just as good and of course snacks. Also scented towels to wipe down your face after the dives and the crew wipes your sunglasses for you!! : ) ALSO for those of you like me who forget their dive books, they give you an individualized card with all the information on your dive and stamped by them so you can staple it onto your dive book back home. The highest class dive operation I've ever been on! Ernie was an AMAZING dive instructor-he fixed my weight issue that had me adding and extracting air and using up too much air on previous dives and he was SO chill. Nick was my instructor for the 2nd dive just as AMAZING. After the dives they both showed us all the sea life that we saw in the book and told us their names and then Nick gave an amazing biological presentation of fun facts about the different sea life. I cannot recommend Maui Diving or Ernie and Nick enough!! I will never dive with another company when I come back to Maui! read more
