This place no longer exists! We drove 35 minutes to get there from Lisbon, only to find out it's been out of business for a while now!

After an early start (by American standards) bar hopping on Pink Street it was time to fill our bellies. We were warmly greeted and shown a table. Our waitress was patient with our questions and made a few suggestions. We started with round of mojitos (the best we've had in recent memory) and perused the menu. Most items are tapas (small plates) so we ordered several dishes to try and share. We told our waitress to bring us the dishes we need to try as they all looked so good. She was enthusiastic and came up with excellent choices. While we waited for our food we chatted with a lovely couple at the table next to us. They were from Romania and visited Lisbon periodically to dine at all of José Avillez's establishments (I believe he has 7 in the Lisbon region). I knew we were in for a treat. Everything from the octopus and crab ceviche to the grilled octopus skewers to our beef Asian stir fry was flavorful and fresh. Our only regret was not ordering the 7 course prix fixe menu that our new friends next to us were enjoying. We finished our meal with coffee and tres leches to share. It was the perfect finish to a wonderful meal.

This is the only restaurant in Portugal that asked for a tip. Afterwards I realized they ripped me off because VAT was included in my meal price. Don't fall for the tip is not included, it might be because I am American. My server was on the grumpy side and never once smiled, but I think that is his personality, he smiled for no one. Food: I ordered the pasta with chile, calamari, and shrimp. It was a unique pasta with garlic and tiny amounts of ginger, that played very well and there was like 2 chile rings and then calamari and shrimp. The pasta was cooked perfectly and right amount of sauce that just played well together. The calamari was cooked to perfection as was the shrimp but a few were not cleaned properly but everything tasted good. The chile did have a tiny bite so somebody might think this is spicy but was not for me, finally something with flavor. I did not eat all the pasta because then I ordered the octopus. The octopus was not cleaned properly but the texture was spot on and the taste was great, I added some of my own hot sauce on the side to give it some kick. Odd to have a boiled egg with the octopus, good taste but the green ring indicates the egg was overcooked. Everything was temperature hot and served fairly quickly. WiFi available. I should have just ordered the pasta because that was fantastic! The octopus was okay but took some work to clean. The pasta gives this place a 5. Service and tip with VAT already included would drop to 2. The octopus is 3 stars. But the pasta was the best meal thus far in Portugal.

They describe it as a gastronomic experience, so to say that my friend and I were excited is an understatement. Already sat on the table were some tasty morsels - the bread Selection with homemade butters, tuna pâté, crab pâté and cheese that was marinated in olive oil and paprika. This was a charming start to the meal and experience. We quickly followed it with starters of roasted scallops with sweet potato purée and bacon and garlic Shrimp and green wine sauce. Our excellent waiter recommended the veal entrecote with onion purée and the whole grilled seabass for main course and we went with his recommendation. He certainly knows what he is talking about. Lesson learned - listen to your waiter! Making room for dessert is a speciality that my friend and I have mastered over the years. This time we made room for Cheesecake with Passion Fruit Coulis, Dark Chocolate Dome, Caramel and Cherry Ice Cream and Sardine Ice cream. Not our usual trio but tasted great. All the while, we watched the beauty of the ocean from our elevated view. It was an amazing way to spend a lunch. Highly recommended for anyone at any time.
