It's all about whose done what…read more That's why they call it the University Of WhoseDone. The alumni are a Hou's Hou of the top minds in Texas. However, I wouldn't say it's every Houstonians choice, there are still a lot of locals that go elsewhere, such as my sex goddess who went Ivy League, and her sister who went to Austin and so on. The old campus leaves something to be desired, so does traffic. The new downtown campus is amazing. The school is doing well in the rankings although outside Houston it's not really viewed as a big, prestigious school at all. Still a great school though. The sports teams are better than ever, the basketball team might be one of the best in the country.

I have been trying to get clear information about their aviation program for months, and the lack of communication and professionalism is disappointing. At this point, I honestly question how many of the positive reviews are from actual students, because my experience has been the complete opposite. I wanted to support an HBCU aviation program, but this kind of administration gives the school a terrible reputation. It makes prospective students feel like they are not a priority.

I'm a 57 year-old black man who's been disabled I have spent $2000 into this college to take three steps forward and three steps back because of my stature I have not gotten any help from professors or of the associate dean of students from the NW College. I would strongly urge students who want to go to this newfound for your college, not go. It is discriminating. It is gender ism on how the way the students not only feel but how they have been treated. This university needs to be seriously streamline. Advisors are very rude. Though HCC seems like the affordable option to better your life through education, at its core, it is an institution of moral corruption. Their graduation rate sits at 16.5% (out of 100%) and if you read their policies, you will see that they do not encourage students to advocate for themselves. They do not want to assist their students; they want to take advantage and keep the money. From deans to professors, they are only looking to keep their jobs and gaslight the students. Not a lot of people outside Houston even know it exists. But it has some really cool people attending and some good professors as well as a really nice campus in the most liberal District of Houston. The graduate classes costs about $1100 a class and range between 3-7 week sessions. During the hotter months, they are hesitant to turn on the air so it gets really hot and vice versa during the colder months. The plus is that there are some great teachers (even though most of them fly down from Dallas) Overall, I have enjoyed the majority of my experiences in the program and would recommend it to others.

I've seen other Fortis locations…read morelisted, but they have different addresses, so to be clear, this review is for the Fortis Institute located at 450 N Sam Houston Pkwy E, Ste 200, Houston, TX 77060. I attended this school for the Medical Assistant program to work toward becoming a CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant). At the beginning, my experience was okay and I didn't have many issues with my classes or instructors. However, as I got further into the program, my experience started to change. There were three staff members in particular that I had issues with. 1. Ms. Marin: I later found out that she would talk about me and my friends, and there were times when she would call us out in front of the entire class in a way that made us feel singled out or less than everyone else. I don't think students should be made to feel embarrassed in front of their classmates, especially by an instructor. 2. Ms. Nun: Whenever I had class with her, I felt like we barely learned anything. I specifically remember my friends and I asking if we could go through the skills list and practice different things to see what we still remembered and what we needed more help with. We were trying to make sure we were actually prepared, but our request was basically ignored and we barely practiced anything. 3. Ms. Moxcley: Toward the end of the program, we were told that we would receive assistance with finding employment. I remember reaching out to her multiple times about finding a job, but I would either receive no response or very little communication. Because I wasn't getting anywhere, I recently contacted Ms. Goss for help finding an MA position. I explained that I'm specifically interested in working as a Medical Assistant in an OB/GYN clinic. She told me she would call me. When she called, I happened to be busy and missed it, but I returned her call shortly afterward. She didn't answer, so I sent her a message letting her know I had called back and was available. This happened Tuesday. By Friday, I still had not received a response to any of the messages I sent afterward. I finally sent another message, and she responded saying she would call me "momentarily." I waited about two hours and still did not receive a call. That is what finally pushed me to leave this review. One of the things students are told is that Fortis will help them with employment after completing the program. In my experience, once you're finished with the school, getting that help has been extremely frustrating. Messages go unanswered, communication is inconsistent, and the employment assistance I was told I would receive has not been what I expected. I also don't understand the point of asking students what area they want to specialize in as an MA if the positions they are being directed toward aren't related to what they said they were interested in. I understand that nobody can guarantee you a specific job, but there is a difference between not being able to guarantee employment and simply not communicating with a former student who is actively asking for assistance. I completed my program and I'm genuinely trying to start my career and put my education to use. I'm not asking anyone to hand me a job. I'm asking for the career assistance and communication that we were told would be available to us. Unfortunately, my experience trying to receive that assistance has been extremely disappointing.
