The local continues to impress me more and more every time I go. First, great coffee. I recommend a green tea latte, but you really can't go wrong with anything I have tried so far. Even their tea selection is spectacular. NOW they have CIDER and BEER! Are you kidding? It is the perfect place to study or work. My friends and I recently attended a Saturday music night 7-9. The place was packed, the music was nice & the games were fun. I wish they had more games to play. They had a nice little snack menu. My only complaint is I wish they were open on Sundays, but I like their new later hours Thurs, Fri, & Sat. I recommend this place because every time it gets better and better. read more

I moved to Richland from Seattle because of my husbands job, and I was a little worried about leaving behind my favorite coffee shop. Then we stopped into the Local- I felt right at home! The coffee is delicious, and their baristas are knowledgable, but unpretentious. They also carry a number of non-dairy alternatives, and great tea blends. My husband is still mourning the fact that they stopped making sandwiches, but I've noticed that beverage service has gotten faster- so that's good. read more

While just beginning this coffee shop has only improved with each passing time I've been in the store. Constantly adding new ways of preparing their drinks which certainly shows their dedication to providing quality. Their prices are low - in fact they could charge more and I wouldn't mind (if the owners read this don't get any ideas ;) exceptional friendliness also adds to their greatness. I go here regularly on Thursday mornings as part of a local church men's group called the G-Men. The fact that they put up with us in the first place is pretty awesome right there. A short story, though to expand on why The Local is a great place for the reason mentioned above. Back around April, the last Espresso World shop on Clearwater went out of business and closed for good. It was, for me, the go-to coffee shop in the Tri-Cities since my first college years at CBC around fall of 1998 until summer of 2000. Since then, even with Roasters somewhat taking over most of Espresso World's market, including two of its shops (the original Richland shop and Red Lion Inn Pasco near CBC), Espresso World was still one of my favorite shops. It had what I used to think was the 'thing' that all good shops should have - from the good service, friendly baristas that knew your name and drink, to even the extra local musician events (usually jazz combos or maybe a gunge or ska band) -, and so, I kept going to the solo Clearwater shop that remained in business until about April of 2015. Before it closed, I was going there weekly with the local G-Men group mentioned up until the final day that Espresso world closed. After that, we shopped around for another coffee shop that we could call 'home'. Some were not close enough for those that worked to their regular commute. Other shops had too loud of music for our conversations. Finally, we decided to try The Local, and it just had everything perfect for what we needed, and thus have continued our weekly early morning meetings at the Local ever since. Only thing that would improve the experience is if they had shades in the windows. In the morning, when the sun comes up, as beautiful as it can be to watch, the rays can get tough on the eyes. Other than that, The Local is an excellent shop and one I'd suggest to any coffee, or even tea aficionado that may come to the Tri-Cities. Speaking of teas, I would suggest the huckleberry or blood orange. You can even sample their aroma right at the counter since the tea is freshly bagged and steeped. read more

Loved the people and environment of this place. Had a cardamom vanilla latte and my friend had the golden milk. Would recommend both. They have several alternative milk opinions which is great as I avoid dairy and react to soy. The gentleman at the counter was super nice and kid friendly. read more

I had my doubts when the former Espresso Bar sold that anyone would make a go of it in this location. They have. It's a great little place for a quick mid morning pick-me-up or for a good laid-back lunch. It's just the right atmosphere, plenty of place to sit alone or with a group, do a little business, or get away from business in the corner for 30 minutes. Nice simple lunch menu.
