I went here as a child, so my experience up close was not pleasant at all. It was a nightmare…read more I was afraid of this man every time I went in because he would threaten to send my mom out of the room when I would refuse to stop squirming in the chair or crying. That would get me to stop only for a couple of seconds when he would intentionally jam a sharp tool into my gums to hurt me. My mom didn't see it at the time because she thought it was just a normal thing to be scared about the dentist. I don't blame her at all. But the one day we came in - Dr. Gordon pushed too far and hurt me to the extent of me taking on about 5-6 of his assistants to hold me down so he could get some 'work' done. And yes, I have read the reviews. I can confirm that he himself or his assistant has forcefully held a kids head in place to perform dental work. Because it happened to me as well under his care. His behavior all around was creepy and pretty sure he took some sick pleasure in hurting kids and watching them cry. And the place was constantly dirty and smelt like fluoride, teeth dust, and used gloves. I felt sick every time I went in. I feel bad for all the kids that were there when I came in to have some work done because all I could hear was screaming and crying. This man should have lost his license years ago when started abusing children like this. I'm glad it closed. I would give this 0 stars, but I'll have to give it a 1.

My daughter had her first cleaning a couple days ago and we encountered a couple different issues…read more 1. We were at the office for two hours just for a cleaning which is completely ridiculous. 2. The office was cramped and they had more patients than they could actually see. Dr. Gordon doesn't even have a hygienist so we had to wait until he was done. 3. He said my daughter needed two filling, and stainless steel crown, and a pulptomy and thank god my mom is an EFDA and told me to get a second opinion because all she really needed was two fillings. He was going to do things that didn't need to be done just to make extra money from me. NO THANKS. We will not be going back.

This is the first official healthcare provider I found on my own ... and anyone who's just gotten…read moretheir own insurance and started digging through providers can attest to why I feel proud of that! Although I don't live in Independence, this Mortenson location had the soonest available appointments when I was booking, and I don't mind a short drive if it means I don't have to wait two months for a teeth cleaning. Scheduling my appointment online was quick and easy - I've done it twice now with no issues. The office itself is simple to access in a strip mall type setting, and exceptionally clean inside. At both of my last two appointments, I was in and out in 45 minutes! The technicians are efficient, kind, and incredibly thorough, and Dr. Thurman was friendly as well. He answered all of my questions conversationally, instead of using a lot of doctor jargon, as many medical professionals do. I plan to continue visiting this Mortenson Family Dental location as long as I'm living in Northern Kentucky!

That was it! No help even though I was in pain. He gave me the name of a specialist and I left. I got home and called the specialist and was told that I would meet with the specialist for an interview no service just to meet me and get my history and it would cost $225!!!! Needless to say, I did not make an appointment. I then went to a Dentist my son liked and found out that I did not have Periodontal disease at all! She x-rayed my tooth and said it looked like it needed to be surgically removed and sent me to a Dental surgeon who found it to be cracked, removed it and now I am finally out of pain. It is obvious that Dr. Thurman just wanted to get rid of me. I would not recommend him at all.

I am new to the area and was reluctant to find a dentist but am so glad I found Independence Family…read moreDentistry to do my crown (2nd time) and filling. It was the best experience at a dentist office I've ever received BY FAR. Dr. Nakhla and his staff at Independence Family Dentistry made this an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by friendly staff who made me feel comfortable approaching them even though the office was busy (special thanks to Vicki!). I thought I was at a bed and breakfast with how approachable the staff were. The waiting area was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, which immediately put me at ease. During my appointment, Dr. Nakhla took the time to thoroughly explain my crown procedure, making sure I understood what to expect and addressing all my concerns with patience and clarity. I initially needed a book for dummies with how clueless I was but his thorough communication made me feel confident to do the procedure myself. The clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, which made my treatment not only quick but also incredibly comfortable. This isn't the first time I'm getting my crown fixed and I told him I wasn't excited about the gummy feeling after doing impressions for crowns- but guess what?! They have a machine that scanned my tooth in the blink of an eye! I felt like I was in a space shuttle with all of the neat equipment. During the crown procedure, I didn't feel any discomfort I normally would have felt. I can't recommend Dr. Nakhla and Independence Family Dentistry highly enough. If you're looking for a dentist who is knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated to providing top-notch dental care, look no further. Dr. Nakhla, is without a doubt, the best dentist I have ever visited, and I will definitely come back!

My first appointment, someone made the wrong type of appointment for me and after I sat around for 40 minutes, was told I'd have to come back another time. Never even saw the dentist. Then when I finally did get seen, an assistant removed my permanent retainer and said I'd have my permanent retainer in 2-3 days, dentist popped his head in to "meet me" and didn't even say 2 words. After I called them repeatedly after more than a week, I FINALLY got to pick up my retainer and it's disgusting. Looks like someone else has already worn it instead of brand new. Save your time & your money, and go elsewhere.

I mentioned maybe wanting to fill in a chip on one of my teeth and he said let me look said yeah we can do that and began showing tools in my mouth with out asking me if i could even afford or approve the work he was about to do. I foot the bill and scheduled for my next cleaning 6 months later. I was told to floss more and on my way. I've been flossing much more. Went back in yesterday and was greeted by the lovely staff. They took me back got me cleaned and then it was time for Dr. Kang to come in. He was very short didn't talk to me in the same way he did the two women in the room next to me. He looking my mouth told me to turn my head back and chin up. I did as much as the chair would allow and he said more and gripped me by my front teeth and pulled my head back. Then tells me my teeth are awful there is soo much plaque and asked when i was seen last and by who. I said you 6 months ago. He said we need to do a deep cleaning now you're going to loose all of your teeth in the next 5 years max. Then told me to floss twice a day and do better. He said "do you want to keep you teeth?" I replied yes. Then he asked "i know you want to keep eating food. I know you love to eat". For reference I'm a plus sized woman. I was mortified tears ran down my face. He spent about 5 minutes deep cleaning and sent me to the front. I went to check out and asked what i would have to pay and she said well you had a deep cleaning so the deductible is $50. I paid and was told i needed to make a post op follow up for one month. After i left i was researching how to help my teeth on top of flossing twice a day. And found out deep cleaning are a long procedure that takes 45 mins - 2 hours per side of the mouth. Yet mine took all of 5 mins 10 max for my whole mouth. I called and got a second opinion and canceled my post op appointment. When asked why i was canceling i explained all this and she said Im sorry you felt that way im sure he didn't mean it. Take what you want from this.
