I initially was planning to get training at another local part 141 school (if you know, you know)…read morebut they weren't taking students at the time so I looked around for other schools in the area and boy, am I glad that I did. Immediately after I reached out to Maura, she got back to me and set up a meeting with the school's director and owner, Chris. We went over how the school works and the general process and then Chris set me up with my instructor, Rick Inzerillo, who did a fantastic job teaching me to fly. He's a former airline pilot who's enthusiastic and knowledgeable not only about aviation, but teaching aviation as well. I could not be happier with my experience with him and I highly recommend asking for him as your instructor. Rick, if you read this, thank you! The atmosphere was friendly and other instructors went out of their way to answer any questions I had if Rick wasn't there (Special thanks to Brad, Zach and Chris). The planes were all well maintained and if anything went wrong, quick to be fixed and put back on the flight line. Finally, after I'd gotten my certificate, I was able to rent the planes for my own use. If I had to make the choice again, I would do it with Hewison in a heartbeat!

The club has two aircraft, a Cessna Skyhawk, 172P and a Cessna Cardinal, 177RG. Both have an excellent suite of avionics featuring a Garmin 430 which makes moving from one aircraft to the next a cinch. This club emphasizes pilot training, as a matter of fact it is part of the club's mission statement. Both zero time pilots and pilots with an ATP are encouraged to always be learning. Upper Fifteen offers the best path to learning to fly, in terms of cost and continuity with your choice of an instructor who will be with you from first flight, to solo to earning your private pilot certificate. Sometimes flight instructors elsewhere are building flight hours so they can move on to a commercial pilot job, leaving their students looking for a new instructor. The club has monthly meetings the first Wednesday of the month where all interested persons are welcome to attend the meeting. The club also has occasional open houses and aviation seminars.
