Had my son's transmission rebuilt here about three years ago. Less than 20000 miles later, it needed to be rebuilt again. I contacted this shop to see if they would give any consideration due to the low miles on their rebuild. I was told no. 12000 mile warranty was up. Never mind the fact that when i pulled out of the shop after the original rebuild, my heating and ac was stuck on and could not be shut off without disconnecting the battery (possibly a coincidence at the time however considering the (lack of) longevity of their work I'm not so sure. This ended up costing another $1000 to eventually fix. If you only want 20k on your rebuild, this is the shop for you. I went across town and got it rebuilt again for about $800 less with a 100000 mile warranty. The numbers speak for themselves. No wonder they only offer a 12k warranty...... read more

Almost all of the reviews here are "as good as it gets". I concur. There are two "terrible" reviews which I can't for the life of me figure out. Maybe they took their vehicles to a business that was here before Independent, or they were paid to write a bad report, because they could not possibly have had those experiences with Independent. The owner is incredibly keen and his staff very able. They have had our business for several years. Independent prices are even with or lower than other highly rated shops. Highly recommended. I have a great experience at independent transmission! The owner,Chris is really nice guy!!!I took my car to Chris after 3 other shops could not repair my car correctly. They had the correct test equipment and know how to find out why my car kept stalling and repaired it right the first time. Chris and Juan(mechanic) were both very friendly and helpfull. When I picked my car up it was washed too! They said that no car leaves their shop dirty. This was the best experience I have evre had at independent transmission.Thanks, Chris!!! read more

I am a single mother who works part time in a restaurant, I took my car into this location when I started having transmission problems. I was able to drive my vehicle into the shop to get it diagnosed. The owner then told me he would need to pull a part the transmission in order to completely diagnose the problem. They told me that it would be a charge of $750 and that it would also go towards whatever cost to fix the car. Before he took apart the transmission he quoted me no more than $3000 with the $750 it would be no more than $2225 when I called back the next day he told me it would be over $4000 worth of work which is much more than he quoted before he took apart my transmission. Also more than my car was probably worth. I asked the owner to then just put my transmission back so I could take it to another expert. When I got there my transmission was in pieces inside my trunk. Apparently for $750 you can get your car totaled at independent transmission. I had to get it towed away from the shop which costed me even more money. I then got a call days later that they had given me the wrong paper work and needed me to come it to give them back their copies. I was not in any rush to get them their paperwork until they told me they had parts to my transmission they had not given me. I was very disappointed that i paid $750 dollars to loose my car. All in all I felt scammed I would never recommend this establishment. read more

Have heard of Chris at Independent Transmission so I decided to give him a call. As I explained to him my transmission on my 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS is a SAAB transmission which requires special tools and training and being that SAAB is no longer in business and the parts are hard to find, he assured me that he can take care of it. Just to explain what the problem was, at 40 mph and above it was making a loud hum/growling noise. After I dropped the car off he informed me that I had a bearing on the differential carrier assembly that had pitted and needed replacement. He also suggested that I replace all the bearings as a precaution to prevent this from happening again, and I thought it was a sound idea. So I went ahead and authorized the repair, A couple of days later Chris called to inform me that the replacement bearings are only available thru the local Chevy dealer and that it would take about 2-3 days to get them. I agreed and about a week later I had a freshly repaired transmission installed and couldn't have been happier. I am a weekend time attack racer and a entry level service technician, and I can say that I trust Chris. On a side note...about 2 days later I had another noise from the front again, Chris was able to squeeze me in the same day and found out that the L/F wheel hub bearing had gone bad, a quick 30 min and the repair was done. read more

I towed my 99 Nissan Altima to Independent Transmission because it was making a really loud grinding noise and it wouldnt go forward or back I was stressing I thought it was going to be a major repair but within minutes of being at the shop the very friendly mechanics at Independent diagnosed my car and let me know what was the problem, they found out my trans-axel was broken which made my car not able to move. After ordering the part they needed for my car they stayed open longer than usual just so that i was able to drive off in my car that same day they were very quick and very clean and their price was very reasonable. I am Forever Thankful to Independent Transmission and whenever my car has any problems again I Guarantee that i will always take it to them! read more
