My truck was running really rough, so I brought it in for a diagnosis. I told them a specific part had been replaced recently, but they insisted it was faulty and replaced it anyway, costing me several hundred dollars. They claimed they had test-driven the truck and that it was now running well. When I went to pick it up, however, a different employee admitted they hadn't test-driven it at all because the fuel tank was too low. The truck was still not working correctly. When I asked for a refund for the unnecessary part, they refused and told me to bring the truck back in for another look. I decided to get a second opinion and took my truck to DMC Automotive Repair. They figured out the real issue within a few hours after dropping it off and fixed it for no additional charge. I highly recommend DMC Automotive Repair and wish I had gone there first! read more

Just went there to get a two tires changed, tpms connected to the car and alignment done and the guy told me a good price that sounded great to me and then had them start on the car. It's on factory suspension and stock tires sizes and the guy gets all worked up and says how hard the tires where to change and how the suspension is hard to adjust and is aftermarket when it's all factory. Then gave the guy doing the alignment the wrong specs so it took him much longer and he ends up charging me 80 dollars more then we talked about because they couldn't figure it out the first time and didn't connect my tpm sensors and saying they probably won't be working on my car anymore so I tell him they definitely won't be working on my car anymore. Only reason I'm not doing 1 star is because the alignment feels great. The guy doing it did a really good job. read more

Scammers. My Grandma went in to get a $200 part changed and got up sold "raped" by a salesman. She got taken to the back and told stories about babies and "personal life" while her car was up on lift and he rambled off things that "needed to be replaced". My mom took her to pick up the car. Seeing the itemized bill, the first thing was $3400 for labor. They had her car one day. Maybe 9 hours. On menu it said $150 an hour for labor. After bartering, they brought labor down to $1500. And after all the other parts "that needed to be replaced" she was charged 5,200 on a car that is worth 8,000. So no, I would not recommend ever taking your car here. read more

After lifting my 06 Dodge I went to America's Tire and grabbed some new rims w/35" Nitto Trail Grapplers and so of course I needed an alignment which I thought they did... but they don't so the guy told me go to Hays automotive it's less than 100 yards away so I did . The guy in the office (Dave) was cool and very up front about how long it would take and they actually got it done early. Ruben is the mechanic that actually had hands on the truck and he thoroughly explained what he had done and told me that I should install some adjustable ball joints so he could align it perfectly... fast forward three weeks later I dropped my truck off in the morning to get adjustable ball joints installed. A couple hours later I got a call that my truck was done so I went down to pick it up and Ruben explained to me that he put the truck on the rack and he got it to align perfectly and didn't need to spend the $300+ on it . I know I shouldn't be amazed when people do the right thing but so many people are dishonest or just want your money ... Hays Automotive could've easily just done the job and taken my money but they did the right thing . Took my car into Hays for a replacement of a idle air control valve. From making the initial call to dropping it off and to picking it up i'd say my experience was great. I supplied the part and all they did was the labor to remove the old one and install a new one. I was quoted 1 hour at a labor rate of $90. Which I felt was very reasonable because I work at the city and our labor rate is $85. Dropped off my car at 9 am and picked it up at noon. There were no surprises when I picked it up and they didn't suggest any other repairs. I just paid the $90 they originally quoted me. They also returned my old part back as I requested. Very professional and friendly staff. This was my first time going there so I was definitely pleased. Would definitely do business with them again. Oh I gave them 4 stars as this was my first visit and all they did was replace a part, they didn't perform any diagnoses or anything it was just their straight labor to install the part I supplied. read more

$100+ to take my car for drive to see if they had an idea of what a very apparent noise is. Thank goodness there are mechanics and auto shops that will take a customer that has spent money there several times before, and simply do them a solid and drive a car around the block to get an idea of a noise. Someone called and told me the whole AC system would have to be replaced at the tune of approximately $1600. We declined. He then stated even though you didn't request it we checked your vehicle's brakes and front ones need work. $350. However the brakes had just been replaced approximately a year ago. Then Dave brings me the receipt! $90!! That is information he should have revealed at initial consultation! He took much needed money from 2 traveling students.
