It's very hard to find authentic stuff from India in Arizona. The Hindu and Sikh communities are small, but thankfully this store is here!!! I like this store. I like smaller mom & pop Asian stores better than Lee Lee's. I just don't like hiking 5 miles throughout a big store trying to find what I need. I really enjoy going to a store where everything I need is within two isles. And that is what India Dukaan is like. Two isles. That's it. Everything for your India make-at-home cuisine. The lady is very nice and helpful, too. Prices are very reasonable. I mostly go in to get mango pureé to make mango lassi. What a great drink. Goes especially well with tikka masala. Yum! She even has it at the very front on an end cap. Both kinds, too, Kesar and the Alphonso variety. (Kesar is sweeter and better for lassi). Make this your go-to India grocery store. read more

My friend Sandy and I were shopping for ingredients for our first ever homecooked Indian meal. Needless to say, we were a bit confused by some of the ingredients having only ever seen them on a menu (and some never at all). We decided to try India Dukaan since it was nearby. I was very pleased with the store. While it is tiny (barely enough room for the two aisles) it had all the basics necessary to stock up on ingredients for our meal. The prices were also quite good. I had expected to pay and arm and a leg for things as often happens at specialty grocers, but was pleasantly surprised. We were even more impressed with the shopkeeper who took her time to help us find what we needed and to even explain what each ingredient was and how to best use it in our recipe! With our first try a rousing success, we'll be back when we need to re-stock! read more

We've been shopping here for a couple of years. Sometimes the service is friendly and polite, sometimes not. Prices are about average and you do need to check the expiration dates on items. Good shop for chutneys, dried beans and lentils and spices. My husband likes chevro (chivda) and he picked up one that looked good. Tastes okay, but it has raisins in it which is quite unusual. read more

A hidden gem. I love cooking indian food and a lot of the spices required I couldn't find in Fry's, Alberston's, or The Sunflower Market. Super happy to have found this place and its pretty cheap compared to the price you would pay in a super market. read more

About me: I'm South Indian, and have been to India stores all over the Southeast of the US, New England, the Bay Area and here in Tucson. I have to say, India Dukaan is one of my favorites. First, I find the owners to be really nice, helpful and friendly. This is in comparison to most India stores I've visited. One example that has always stuck out to me is that when I wanted a somewhat specialty item (in this case, "Madras Sambar Powder" vs. just regular Sambar Powder that they didn't carry, they made sure to order it for me, and then keep it on the shelves. At other India stores in town they've said 'all sambar powder is the same...this is what we carry.' The people at India Dukaan go the extra mile. Second, I find their prices to be quite reasonable. They have fresh vegetables, as well as various sizes and brands of other staple items (like ghee and dal). If you want spices, you'd be a fool to buy it anywhere else. Things like Saffron are 1/4 the cost at India Dukaan than the nearby Albertsons. All in all, I think this place is great, and go there for all my Indian grocery needs. read more

Shopping at India Dukaan is such a great experience! Everything I have purchased here has been fresh; the spices are fragrant, the lentils soak and cook nicely, and the flours have a wonderful flavorful, including the chapati flour, which has a relatively short shelf life. In other words, the inventory is very well-managed and you probably won't find a single expired item on the shelves. The store itself, although small, is exceptionally clean and well-organized. I can find almost everything I need here quickly and easily. read more

The shop carries dry goods (various legumes and flours), dry instant foods, frozen meals and items, drinks, desserts, spices, personal care products, and Indian movies for rental. read more

The owner of this store is wonderful. My son has multiple allergies and she has given me recipes for delicious dishes which he can eat. It's a great resource. I don't know if her prices are higher than other groceries. What I do know is that I do not get this kind of help anywhere else! read more

Basmati (long grain) rice is what attracted my purchasing at the India Dukaan (store) more than five years now. It's always fresh, down to the very last kernel. I like their variety, reasonable prices, (especially cardamom), and its a change in my diet that I've never regretted-good quality food-staples and spices. I have been shopping at India Dukaan for over 4 years and am very happy with the prices the merchandise and the service. Ive walked into other ethnic stores and certain scents are just unpleasant but it always smell nice a mixture of chandan and spices. several times ive chatted with the owners who have suggested items to try (navratna) and then too have been pleased. Sure the store is small when you compare it to safeway super walmart and such but this store has the necessities. they even have a selection of fresh produce announced in the emails as to their arrival. This place gives a wonderful feel of a slower time when things were more basic with out all the fancy glitz.. Thank you for being here India Dukaan. read more

An excellent shop with a small but very well-chosen selection of frozen foods, as well as a nice assortment of dried beans, spices, and other ingredients. All of the prepared foods I have tried have been delicious, and I have received some nice recommendations from the couple who own the shop. I have always found them to be extremely pleasant to deal with; they are warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and unfailingly polite. Although it is a small shop, yet it keeps all the materials needed by preparing Bharati and Pakistani dishes. Being a Hindo shop, no meat or fish is available here. This store is really nice and people friendly. Owners are very friendly and go out of the way to help customers. Prices are kept very reasonable and competitive. They are running a business very efficiently and I applaud their hard work. I don't like thing flashy and fancy, I am a practical person. his store fits all my needs as far as Indian Grocery is concerned. Besides, the owners are very active in the Indian community events. I am in their email list. I get email as soon as they get fresh shipment of Indian vegetables and produce like tindoora, curry leaves, etc. Also notification if there is a Bollywood movie showing or something like that.
