Good service and kindness is what making me write this. I visited this place yesterday, 2-21-2026, I picked three items, green tea, and hot curry, Coriander seeds. There was a young man at the cash register, he started ringing the sale. Hot curry powder came $1 more than when posted on the shelf, I mentioned to him, he checked and then said "I get you" and charged me $1 less. I walked away, and looked at the receipt to find another mistake with the green tea price. I went to the shelf and brought the shelf tag to him, he was polite and easy with me. I told him the price is $2 lower. He checked and said something like different product, I said I bought and my decision was on the price. He said "I get you" and refunded $2. This is a dream of a shop! All things Indian ... and more! My first time here and thrilled to folks it brimming with goodies, fresh and packaged and in between, e.g. semi freshly packed mithai's and baked stuff, as well as all sorts of roti's and paratha's, plain and methi. Yessss, methi. I. Mean. The place is saturated floor to ceiling with not only produce of esoteric freshness, e.g. curry leaves in a zip lock bag for .99 cents and kerala plus okra and those tiny eggplants. The tinned aisles are equally seductive ... if you can think of it, they pretty much have it. They've got stainless steel and copper cook ware plus serving ware, pickles if every variety, snacks imported from India. Everything to love is here, parking out front for free and customer service efficient and friendly with prices being more than reasonable! I have found the owners to be courteus here. Last month I walked in and grabbed fresh green chutney from prepared food isle not knowing I had to buy dhokla box along. Owners cited this at the register and I mentioned that I do not need dhokla but chutney from last buy was fabulous. We have been doing our weekly Indian shopping here for 3+ years. I like it better than the south bay stores. The staff is very friendly and the store is clean. There is parking in the gas station next door which is easier to get in and out of. Our usual staples are idli, dosa batters, yogurt and frozen parathas. I also like the frozen chicken here as well as sweets. I like this store so much better than the Indian store in foster city. The produce is much better here and the batter is always fresh. read more

I would come here every week to get supplies for my business but not after tonight! I can easily get it straight from the supplier but I like to support small local businesses especially my neighbors. Hours say they close at 9pm. I come here on December 13, 2021 12 Minutes before closing and the guy in the store gives me a look of annoyance and then looks at his watch! He says "go ahead hurry up if you got something important to get". Wtf? I said "nah I'm good" and walked right out. If small businesses fail it's usually their own fault. This is my favorite Indian grocery store in the Bay Area! They have all my spices, snacks, and produce I need. Prices are in line with other Indian grocery stores. The staff is very friendly and helpful when I need something. I usually find what I am looking for, and they try to help me locate whatever I can't find. I also love the fact that they keep this place so clean. I highly recommend this place if you are in the need for groceries, especially ones that come from India. read more

This is now an excellent store for Indian groceries. Was not so good a couple years back, but it appears to be under new management (not sure about that, though), the current people seem to be taking much more interest in running a tight and clean store. Well-stocked, properly shelved items, excellent variety. We used to shop at the other Indian grocery in Belmont, (at El Camino and Ralston), but a recent visit has completely changed our opinion and this will be our regular go-to store. read more

I had an unopened spice bag that the lady at the desk refused to exchange. I didn't have a receipt but who keeps grocery receipts anyway? I mentioned I have an account with them and she still gave the same spiel. I asked my parents to drop whatever they were shopping. I walked out leaving the spice bag on the counter, saying "Thank you". I have never had anything like this happen to me at other grocery stores, e.g. the Indian store on Ralston that too for such a small non-perishable item. I used to come here fairly frequently and often racked 100+ dollar bills. I frankly don't understand the meaning of an account if the customer service is so poor. Two big issues with this place. First, arbitrary prices. The prices are not marked and the guy at the cashier charges what he pleases. Second, bad customer service. If you don't buy big there is a scowl and rudeness. And this is not a one off issue. It's happened many times. This is the worse of at least 3 Indian groceries in they area. read more

So glad I have discovered this place! I used to go to Namaste Plaza in Belmont, which is very untidy and sometimes even has defrosted frozen stuff. This place is such a refreshing change - could be any regular grocery store (aka clean, well maintained, well stocked with polite staff) but just happens to be specializing in Indian groceries. DO NOT shop here. They cheat on the bills. And if you end up shopping here, please check your bill. We bought a few items today and when I checked the bill, I noticed they had charged us for two items we didn't buy. When I told them that, they took it off. I then paid and before leaving the store, I checked the bill again. This time they charged us for 4 of the same item when we only bought 2. This unethical and immoral behavior is completely unacceptable. We'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Finally an Indian grocery store in San Mateo! It opened up in mid-November 2016, and the place was still being organized when I popped in on Dec 13. It's a bit of a small location so the variety might be limited, though they carry most of the big brands. The owners were friendly and the prices reasonable.
