I love Bianchini's! Great selection and quality of produce, fresh meats/seafood/cheeses/eggs/baked goods, packaged goods and flowers. All the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. l don't know them personally but I'm a fan of each person for different reasons. One time I was buying persimmons that were kind of pricey... and the cashier paused to let me know the cost. It was expensive but I really wanted them so I nodded for them to cross the scanner but I appreciated him pointing it out because I hadn't looked at the price tag! The store is always fresh and clean, as is the parking lot. I appreciate that they have ample parking and you can enter/exit from 3 different streets. Other helpful features: * They have plastic bag recycling outside, and other machines inside that I haven't used (locker, CRV bottle recycling, maybe a coin counter?). * They are open throughout the year with the exception of just Christmas Day. Bless them for being open on the eves and New Year's Day! * If you shop here regularly, be on the look out for their annual Cyber Monday Gift Card sale (pay $75 for a $100 gift card). * On Fridays, there is a van that sharpens knives while you shop! Very well stocked supermarket. A highlight is definitely the sand dabs at $11.99 a lb. These are seasonal and not easy to get. The ones I saw were fresh and by far the cheapest anywhere. Sand dabs are excellent broiled at high heat to make crispy and then seasoned with herbs, garlic and butter (with a splash of lemon to top things off). This is the way that Sotto Mare prepares their sand dabs and it's incredibly delicious! Their branzino also looked really fresh (you can tell by the condition of the fish eyes). It also seemed like they had some attractively priced grass fed steak. I unfortunately did not bring a cooler with me but I intend to give some of the products a try the next time I am in town. read more

Major sticker shock from very mediocre food. First time at this place and was getting some grab n go items. I got five items (2 sandwiches, poke, chicken pot pie, berry pie) and it came out to over $50! If I knew that was going to be the case, I would've just gotten takeout. Now the food review. Sandwiches (chicken and egg salad) had zero flavor. Threw out salmon poke after one bite - it was super chewy. Chicken pot pie was good, I would get it again. And berry pie was good but from woodside bakery and was $10 for a tiny pie. Maybe going directly to the bakery will have lower prices. Sorry won't be stopping by again. read more

This is another gem of a local market that seems to be in almost every town in the South Bay. Great deli, cheese section, local produce and goods, plus a fantastic butcher meat counter. While visiting San Carlos for a week I picked up some fantastic beer from a nearby brewery, a NY Strip from Humboldt, and a couple of super tasty house ground burger patties. It's not necessarily cheap, but for the quality of what you're getting on some (not all) of what you're buying it is a solid and worthwhile expenditure. read more

They have food that's prepared that you can actually eat although I wish they had enough staff to make more varieties of it. I have zero complaints about the staff. I like browsing local grocery stores like Bianchini's. They often stock local goods like desserts which I always like browsing and will often pick some home to try out. This place is definitely not the cheapest so I don't really recommend to shop here on a regular basis. But it seems good for one off or emergency purchases. I stopped by for some produce recently. Their produce section is decent. I've picked up some potatoes, blueberries and peaches here before. This store is a bit small but seems like a good size for downtown San Carlos. Love Bianchini's for their deli and prepared foods section. Great made to order sandwiches and soups as well. The sandwiches are filling and sometimes come with a small piece of Andes mint chocolate. I find that they are layered beautifully and the meat tastes great. The french sweet roll is usually my go to, though the focaccia bread is also fabulous. If you join their app card program, it's buy 10 sandwiches get one free which is pretty sweet. The soups are also pretty good. The clam chowder is awesome. Also enjoy the tomato bisque. I like that they charge you based on weight/ however much you want to eat, that way you don't have to fill up the container so much. When I go with my friend, sometimes we order a few sandwiches and just split to try everything. The Godfather is really good and so is the 49ers sandwich. I came into bianchinis market on 9/5 around 5:15 Pm and I was looking for some lunch and wanted to grab a drink that's when I saw a employee a fat ginger kid facing the sodas I politely asked "may I go in" expecting him to scoot over but then as I went to grab the soda he try's to slam the door and it hits my elbow then fatty said "should have said excuse me " and then was like "yeah that's why your elbow hurts" luckily I'm a friendly person and just thought he had a mental disability but I don't think the next person would have let that slide read more

Unfriendly vibe with the workers in this place, and very expensive pricing. A small example: we bought a single Serrano pepper and it cost $1.20!! The same pepper would cost about $0.15 at Safeway. That's because it weighs 0.7 oz but on the Bianchini's scale it's 3 oz! And on top of that, the cost/oz is double. How many other items are rounded up with an inaccurate scale? The lady checking people out in the second to last isle from the front door has the most attitude ever. did not treat me with respect. Makes me never want to come back here again. This is one of those specialty grocery stores. Reminds of Mothers Market in Southern California. Small and clean, they have their own parking lot. Was looking for desserts and didn't see anything special. This seems to be the closest grocery store to our destination, so we stopped here. The prices seem high and the selection isn't that wide overall. Although I have a feeling we will stop here again in the future as there are no other grocery stores nearby. read more

I picked up freshly cooked whole turkeys for our work potluck here. First impressions: plenty of parking in their dedicated parking lot, inviting market with lots of specialty products, and helpful, efficient staff. An employee helped me and the turkeys to my car. The turkeys, while on the pricier side, were the best I have ever tasted. Both the white and dark meat were tender and flavorful. Funny story: we forgot to bring a carving set to our potluck. These turkeys were so tender we literally cut all three with a plastic butter knife. Incredible! I look forward to returning and exploring more of their offerings. read more

Great selection of cheeses! This location has the best house-made salmon poke and shrimp crab cakes - (not a fan of the crab ones though) If you time it right, they have one of my fav creamy artichoke soup either in the cold case or in the hot bar. Butchers here are always cheerful and friendly and helpful with recommendations too. I do hope they bring back the salad bar! But good news that the soup bar is back. Also a nice variety of hot foods, and deli - lots of stuffed potatoes, thick fritattas, all sorts of salad, easy to put together meals when you want a night off. read more

It's awesome and super generous for $12.99. I had it twice now and each time it gets better. Generous crab chunks, aioli sauce, Swiss cheese, avocado and tomato all on toasty goodness sliced sourdough bread. A must try if you're a crabbie McMasterson! The deli staff love the sandwich, they're all really accommodating and super nice. They have an excellent hot food area. The prime rib and kielbasa sausages are so good when they have them. They're not available daily only certain days. I think on Fridays. The soup and salad bar are pretty good as well. I love the olive bar, nice variety. The soups are great, my fav is Italian Wedding w/meatballs. They have about 6 soups out daily, broth or creamy options. Meats and seafood area has an awesome selection, very pricey but excellent quality. The bakery area has loads of specialty breads and desserts- unique items. My wife & I stumbled here after having lunch in the neighborhood. We found parking in the lot right after 1:00 PM on a Saturday. There were not a ton of people shopping (hence finding easy parking), so it never felt crowded or unsafe. I was delighted to discover some local artisan breads here (specifically from As Kneaded and Sconehenge). Any shops that sell those breads are high in my book! I also enjoyed the cheese selection, as they carry flavors that are not super popular at the chain stores. While I didn't purchase any meat or fresh fish, I did notice the large selection, especially of their house-made sausages. Check out was easy, as there were 3 lanes open, with no more than 2 customers in each one. All the staff I saw were wearing masks, and social distancing was never an issue. read more

We were searching high and low for a standing rib roast for a birthday dinner during covid 19. We finally found Bianchini's ! We had never been here before covid19. The standing rib roast was $14.99 /lb vs $ 19.99 and what's more is that they had a roast in stock. Everyone else failed to have any in stock. (Piazzas , Lunardis, Safeway etc ) We had the best prime rib roast ever and the fresh corn we ordered was the sweetest we'd had this season ! I understand it is a family or neighborhood run market but that still doesn't sit quite right that the majority of items cost way more than something from say a Safeway. This review is purely for the catering services. They have an extensive menu composed of sandwiches, salads and a variety of meat/fish entrees. Had the Skirt steak with tomato, parmesan vinaigrette that came with grilled corn and vegetables. The grilled corn was the highlight as it had a great smoky flavor. The steak was flavorful, but a bit on the tougher side. Hard to know how it would be if eaten immediately. It's always a treat to come here and I always find myself dropping a lot of money just because of their unique and curated selection of specialty and local items! My husband used to work out of this area and this was his go to lunch spot. He loves their deli sandwiches so when a craving hit on a Saturday we ended up driving this way to enjoy a sandwich....
