Took the fam here on Sunday for buffet because of the 4 star rating. Will not be going back. The restaurant was not very clean, including buffet serving stations, and it had a very meager selection of items. The items in salad bar were all wilted and brown and you had to use the same tongs on the main buffet for multiple items. Only the tandoori chicken and naan tasted good, everything else was meh. My parents were in town over the holiday weekend, and we convinced them to try takeout from India Hut. They had a bad experience about 30 years ago with an Indian restaurant that, according to them, just tasted like curry (spice). After recommending an Indian restaurant that they adored in Rochester, they were open to trying India Hut. We got everything medium heat (my parents are a little heat-sensitive), and tried the chicken curry, the shahi paneer, vegetable pakoras, paneer pakoras and butter chicken, all with entirely too much delicious garlic naan. Everything was fantastic! The paneer had a great flavor in both dishes, and I enjoyed the various sauces they were cooked in on top of the naan. The pakora paneer seemed a little skimpy compared to the vegetable, but they were each quite large. The chicken curry was a little greasy - or looked it - but the flavor of everything was awesome. Would definitely be open to trying any of these dishes again, especially the paneer. Parents have definitely re-opened their mind to Indian food, and husband was thrilled, of course, with how everything tasted. The food is very delicious! It's served family dinner style. The portions are fantastic for the price. My friends and I ate buffet style trying a little from everyone's plate. It's so tasty I'm craving butter chicken now. We were able to eat left overs two more times. The staff was highly at tentative and kept us filled with drinks. I got a level two spicy and it had the right amount of kick. I like spicy food and have a high tolerance. My friends felt it was really hot so go mild if you can't handle spicy foods. read more

In terms of good Indian food in El Paso, there are not many choices, but I'm glad this place opened up on the West Side because I've been dying for good Indian food. Food: We came here for both dinner service and for their $9.99 all you can eat Indian buffet. The food was great and fresh. We got the lamb korma, fish curry, and tikka masala with a side of garlic naan for dinner. Fish curry was not that great - I don't recommend ordering it but the lamb and tikka masala was FIRE. The naan is super garlicky, which we love, but if you're wary of garlic, stay away. The lunch buffet offers a lot of options for both vegetarians and meat-eaters. The chicken they offer is juicy and the staff keeps the line stocked, so you're never out of options. They also offer a salad bar, but let's be real here, are we really here for the salad? The only gripe I have is that I feel like the dinner serving sizes are small for the price you pay. Service: For dinner, we had a cute Indian lady help us and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant for mid-day dinner service. We like that personally. Lunch was definitely more busy than lunch but for the most part, both services ran very well. Ambiance: You can literally smell the beautiful aroma of the Indian spices as you walk through the door - amazing. I had been craving Indian food for a few days, and when my sister let me know that she was bringing some dahl puri with her from Maryland, I researched Indian food in El Paso. India Hut appeared to have the best reviews, so I ordered Goat Curry, Lamb Vindaloo, and Coconut Fish. Each entree came with a container of rice, and each was absolutely delicious! When I went to pick up the order, the woman who completed the transaction was ultra pleasant, something I was not used to in Indian restaurants in multiple states. My sister, spouse, and I had a terrific impromptu dinner courtesy of India Hut. The actual building is pretty old so don't expect a beautiful environment inside, but the food is excellent. Surprisingly good amount of spices and authentic flavors, similar to what I'd expect in San Francisco or Atlanta - aa big city, not El Paso!! We got a variety of meat platters here. But honestly, I do not think this place was up to par with the quality/the way they cooked their meats. My fiancé and I both b liege that the meat dishes were below average at best and were sort dry. I believe this India Hut usually prepares their food to be served buffet style and we did get our food as takeout, so that may be the reason why the meat/the food in general was not as juicy and tasteful as other types of Indian restaurants that prepare the same type of food, but overall, I wouldn't expect too much from this place. Two times in a roll they have said 30 minutes only for it to take over an hour for our food to be ready. I know that the lunch buffet doesn't really strongly indicate the quality of an Indian restaurant. However, having said that, the lunch buffet at one of the two new Indian restaurants in El Paso (here's a hint at the name: "Me***an") was SO AWFUL that I can't even force myself to go back and order a la carte. On the other hand, the lunch buffet at India Hut on North Mesa was very good. It wasn't the best I've ever had anywhere, but it ticked all the right boxes and was a definite step up from the other local options (especially Me***an). There was a great selection of both veg and non-veg dishes. They were served temperature-hot and were thick, tasty and packed with meat and/or veg. The plain and especially excellent garlic naan were kept replenished on the buffet table, as was the subtly flavored rice. The Tandoori chicken pieces were big, meaty and identifiable as legs, thighs or breasts (unlike the meatless, anonymous fragments at Me***an). South Indian idlis, sambar and potato dosas were a welcome find at the end of the buffet table. You won't find them in very many Indian restaurants in the U.S., which usually exclusively serve North Indian cuisine As usual with buffets, the spice levels of all the dishes were obviously toned down for American tastes. But that's forgivable, and I did occasionally taste tantalizing hints of authentic ingredients that bode well for a la carte dishes that can be ordered to the diner's preferences. Next time you're looking for Indian in El Paso, just bypass Me***an and head toward town on North Mesa. India Hut will welcome you with open arms and some excellent food. read more
