Wow wow wow! My husband has visited twice in the last week. He was at a business dinner the first time around and got me a few bits to try. Delicious butter chicken and keema naan. We then ordered their food for dinner a couple nights ago and MY GOODNESS it did not disappoint. It tastes just like the Indian food we are used to. We ordered Karahi Chicken, Chili Paneer, seekh kebabs, keema and garlic naan. Customer service was above and beyond. The Seekh kebabs were the best we ever had in the Washington area so far. Kudos! I was craving Indian food for lunch so I had Indian Bistro delivered. Super satisfied! The only reason I'm giving it one star less is because I ordered the food at a spice level 2 but it's completely mild. I never know how extreme the restaurants take their spice levels but I was expecting at least a little bit of a kick at L2. I'll try it again and level up the spice to see if that's any spicier. It was one of those nights, the time was after 8pm , suddenly I had a craving for an Indian food and found this place nearby that is still open, not requiring a big detour and offers dine-in (not preferred given the pandemic but we were not exactly close to home). The restaurant is located in a strip mall next to a car rental place. Not exactly descript but the parking lot was well lit. Got seated quickly, the restaurant was lively but we got seated at a booth distanced from other patrons (although I did notice a group of more than 5 people at a table ). The starter (complimentary) was papadums and presumably cilantro and tamarind chutneys. I had goat curry and Mughal biryanis with a side of garlic naan. Both were delicious and tasty. Would return to this place, but likely a take out next time. Why the 3 stars? Well, the dishes were likely prepared in a high sodium environment. 30 minutes later I found myself chugging a gallon of water. I had never been to this restaurant before so was looking forward to going and brought by friends of mine. We ordered the chicken tandoori, lamb curry, chicken curry, butter chicken, garlic naan, paneer pakora and vegetable samosa, a few of these a couple orders of each. While I think the people who owned and worked at the restaurant were extremely nice, I have to say the opposite of the service. It was slow and beyond slow. There weren't many people there at the time and we weren't in a rush, but it was painful. Also, as you can see by the picture, the vegetable samosa was almost to the point of being burnt and was totally overdone. Felt that the dishes were also on the small side as far as portions. I'm supposed to be taking another set of friends in the next couple of weeks but hesitate. Food: Never had coconut chicken before, figured I'd give it a go. I think I have a new favorite now! I like Tom Kah soup, so it shouldn't be a shock that this dish is now one of my favorites! I like the decorations and they were playing this music which was Indian renditions of more recent pop music. I thought that was pretty cool, actually. Service: Server and waitress were both nice, no complaints on either one. However, I did notice, as I was eating, that a few people came in and waited a while. I'm not sure if this was because their orders were not ready or they got mixed up... I dunno. But, this is a busy place even at 8:30 at night! Price: Middle of the road. 13$ for a dish, 6$ for naan and 3$ for a drink. It's not cheap, but if you want good Indian food, you're gonna have to pay a little for it. Flavors can be a bit unusual but the standard items like Chicken Masala and such, while in small servings, tasted good and as expected. I was excited to find a place south of Seattle that serves my favorite Chicken 65. But this was disappointing. It doesn't have the special curry leaves which are the essential part of Chicken 65. I tasted like sesame oil and soy sauce, NOT Indian flavors at all. This gives it a sweet taste and I ordered 4-star on the spicy scale, another disappointment. Not going back to this place. Had a very interesting experience. We placed a very large order via Uber eats. The delivery driver was dispatched to the restaurant in a timely manner and texted when he got there. 30 minutes passes, then 40, then almost an hour. The Uber driver texts and calls to say the restaurant is delayed and will not give him the food. He is audibly flustered. I call Indian Bistro several times. The phone just rings. In the 4th or 5th try they pick up. I explain that the order was placed at 7:50 and it's now 9:15pm and the driver has said he is not being given the order. The woman answering says that the driver is refusing to leave but that my order of chicken... is finished. I corrected her and said my entire order is vegetarian. She then stammers and says there was some confusion and it will be a few more minutes. I'm not sure if the issue was the large order size or the restaurant refusing to service and/or listen to the driver when he stated which order he was picking up. Regardless the person answering the phone was disparaging the driver and unprofessional. We haven't even tasted the dood yet, but I cannot in good conscience ever visit or order from Indian Bistro again. read more
