I hate to be the fly in the ointment but I tried this place tonight for the first time. Placed an order for mango chicken. I was surprised at the size of the container, meaning small. Inside was 2/3 gravy and 1/3 chicken. It wasn't even enough to fill me up. Picture this a bowl a little bit bigger than a soup/cereal bowl. That was it to my whole order. I called but they pretty much said it is what it is. Not going back. Not worth $19!

This is essentially an East Indian restaurant. The curries were tasty as well as the biryani.

We just ate here and it was some of the best Indian food I have had in the Seattle area. And it was so affordable! We had channa masala, Mattar paneer, samosa chaat, garlic Naan and rice. We also got to try the mango Lassi. Everything was outstanding! It is some of the freshest Indian food I have ever had. I was pleasantly surprised that the channa (chickpeas) in the samosa chaat were spiced completely differently than in the channa masala. Both were excellent. The staff was very attentive and made sure our water was always full. Even the rice was fragrant and tasty. The garlic Naan was hot and delicious. We literally ate and left no crumbs. We are already planning our next visit.

We decided to try the new spot that finally opened in Jack's Country vacated space in downtown Des Moines. First of all, I'm glad they took their time because the space is now very, very clean and fresh with a new kitchen. Two of us had vegetarian dishes. The Palak Paneer (2 star heat) and Shahi Paneer (1 star). They came with a bowl of Basmati rice which was plenty for us. Both dishes came beautifully presented in authentic metal bowls filled to the brim and were hot, fresh and delicious. We also ordered the garlic naan which was well worth the $5.99. Well charred and buttery. Perfect for swiping every bit of sauce. One person ordered the 2 piece fish and chips. He said the cod had a crunchy coating and moist flesh. The chips were standard but were crisp and well seasoned. We took home enough of our vegetarian dishes for at least 1 or 2 more meals. The fish and chips realized that the naan was so tasty that he polished that off instead of the fries. Don't let the name fool you. This is a terrific Indian restaurant. We will be back!

The spread was ridiculous (in the best way): close to 50 dishes. Lamb, mutton, chicken, paneer, falafel, hummus, nihari, kababs... basically a United Nations of deliciousness. They had mutton haleem, which is basically a unicorn at buffets. Most places go the chicken route which is not the same. Haleem made with chicken is like the lead singer lip-syncing at a live concert -- sure, it looks right from a distance, but deep down everyone knows something sacred has been compromised. Not only was it mutton, it might be the best haleem I've had in the Greater Seattle area. I considered asking for a to-go bucket (for research purposes). Plenty of vegetarian options too, including hara-bhara kebab, so nobody at the table feels left out (or tempted to switch teams mid-meal). Dessert was some ground-breaking stuff. Ras malai, gulab jamun, sheer khorma, and Umm Ali (if you haven't had it, imagine bread pudding that went to finishing school and came back rich, elegant and sophisticated). And these weren't "buffet versions". Most buffet GJs taste like fried dough and the rare Ras Malai tastes like boiled paneer. The sweets at Aadar tasted like the real stuff -- rare! Service was on point. Seated immediately, water glasses magically refilled, plates cleared like a Formula 1 pit stop. One of the best server-to-customer ratios I've seen at a Desi buffet. The ambience is classy. Spacious, tablecloths, good cutlery. Felt like those 5-star hotel buffets back in India. Definitely triggered some nostalgia. At $40 per person, it might feel a bit premium for a buffet, but this was a special Eid spread, and between the quality, variety, service, and overall experience, it absolutely earned it. I'm genuinely now curious (and excited) to try their regular buffet next. Kudos, Aadat team for nailing this!

The curries were very heavy and thick, with a lot of masala and cream, which made them feel a bit overwhelming. Nothing really stood out flavor-wise. On the positive side, the restaurant is very clean and well maintained. The experience wasn't bad, but it also wasn't memorable. Decent option if you're nearby, but there's room for improvement in balancing the flavors.

Our server was attentive, present, and genuinely eager to learn and provide a good experience. There was a level of effort there that you don't always see, and I can confidently say there was nothing negative about the service. Now, the food. We started with the Cauliflower Manchurian appetizer, which was the standout of the night, beautifully spiced, well-balanced heat, and exactly what you expect when you go out for Indian cuisine. It delivered flavor and depth. We also enjoyed our Garlic Naan. For our entrees we ordered Prawn Malai Curry and Chicken Saag. The prawns were clean and cooked properly, but the dish overall felt under-seasoned and lacked the heat and boldness typically associated with Indian food. The chicken itself was moist and cooked well, but presentation was noticeably different from the menu photos. The saag, in particular, was more of a purée rather than the textured spinach shown, which was a bit disappointing from a visual and expectation standpoint, And again, it lacked the bold, heat generally associated with Indian Cuisine. Where the experience struggled most, however, was the ambiance. The restaurant felt unusually quiet. ((It was a Thursday Evening around 6pm)) We were one of only two tables dining, and the overall atmosphere came across as somewhat uncomfortable and, at times, a bit eerie. The exterior signage also doesn't align with the cuisine; it gives off more of a fast-food or taco truck impression rather than an inviting Indian dining experience. Additionally, the gold-toned plating and utensils felt more distracting than elevated. The finish appeared worn and tarnished, which unfortunately had the opposite effect of what was likely intended, as it felt more gaudy than refined. Overall, we did have a good experience, largely due to the service and a few highlights in the food. However, the restaurant is still finding its footing. From what I understand, they've only been open about six months, and it shows. With some strategic adjustments, especially in ambiance, branding, and consistency between menu presentation and actual dishes, this place has real potential. I hope the owner takes the opportunity to refine these areas, because there is something here worth building on.

We used to come here before 2020 at least once a month, other than our grumpy Indian waiter lady , we were ok with this place. Now, The place looks run down and the crowd is non Indian mainly. Which is probably why everything looks curry like but nothing tastes like authentic Indian food. It's a no for me. If you want traditional Indian food, this will disappoint you. The staff here is non Indian , is almost mechanical, and regurgitate learned information about the menu, they don't ask you what you want to drink , they are just marching around cleaning but no effort of being personable. They have signs : 1) no cell phone, 2) you will be charged for food left on your plate, 3) an extra charges for using credit card. It's feels like you are eating in a catholic mass you will be punished if the matron finds you are misbehaving. If you have read this far, find a better Indian restaurant, but you will be disappointed if you are Indian or love true authentic Indian cuisine and go here.

Chole batura - the baturas were small 3 baturas which were ok but the channa masala had 4 tsp of oil which i had to throw before even I tried to taste. Chicken biryani - this was a let down, the biryani has a rose water or a different unusual flavor that was making this biryani different than other biryani I have eaten.
